I became a Kpop stan in 2011 and so this video was like walking down memory lane! I remember at least 80% of the music and videos. My first Kpop video ever was Super Junior Mr. Simple and Super Junior continues to be one of my favorite groups. So many songs, groups, and artists I have forgotten over the years❤ it is fantastic that this video exists because we can show newer Kpop stans what Second Generation was all about and they can hear the unique sound Kpop had at the time. I will definitely keep coming back to this video for the nostalgia!

golden era of kpop for sure
This was the year I discovered Kpop so it was so great to look back on songs I was so obsessed with and all the songs I completely forgot about!
2011 I think is the golden age of kpop.
There are a lot of hit songs.

This is the era where downloading is more popular than watching yt. Streaming back then is alien to us. this is during my first year high school. We listen to all kpop groups. Not unlike today.
The pain of trying to stream mv back then still haunt me to this day 😭

It's also painful to try to watch MAMA live and comebacks of your favorite groups. People today are so lucky to have youtube and strong internet.

The nostalgia!! I've listened to Kpop since 2010, and while I do enjoy plenty of 4th gen releases, nothing will ever hit the same as 2nd gen. I hope this helps newer Kpop listeners respect the music that inspired THEIR idols over the years!!
Okay even though T-ARA, SISTAR & GG are my favorites of this year - KARA & 2NE1 truly stand the test of time. No one can deny these songs.. What a year!

The Popasia TV show started in Australia in 2011, so many of these videos got played a lot on Australian television (the show sadly got cancelled in 2018, just as K-Pop was going mainstream).

because there are ads now, if you look at views without ads there's still inflation but no where near as bad

The fact that SISTAR's SO COOL is only #13 on the list is a crime, considering it ended up selling more than 98 of the songs on this list (and it's one of the very few Kpop songs to sell over 4M downloads in South Korea alone).

Personally, you can't talk about 2011 in K-Pop without mentioning the drama Dream High. They really caught lightning in a bottle there with that cast (IU was fresh off Good Day, Suzy and Kim Soo-Hyun became SUZY and KIM SOO-HYUN with this, Bae Yong-Joon came out of retirement for this, I could go on). It's because of Dream High this was the year I took the leap into K-Pop and never looked back (miss A, IU, 2PM and T-ara were naturally the ones I started with).
I thought I knew a lot of songs from this period I only knew 26/100 lol
