- Let’s not kill each other over a music festival 🙏🏽🙏🏽 Sabaidee fest is a big event for south East Asian culture in America, it take money to make money. I’m sure their’s drama here and there but this is their 2nd year, mistake gonna happen. As for me I don’t blame ppls for getting mad, they have the right to be mad if they were mistreated, but at the same time we dont need to go out n discredit them for trying to make it better, at the end of the day , it just a music festival. How they make $$$ is none of our business. If u can sell drug n become rich, power to u, I wish I can do the same 🤷🏾♂️ everyone hustle is different 💪🏿 I do SBDF because I LOVE MUSIC, I want to have fun, and be part of the culture movement. I dont think about money and all that stuff!! SBDF aint gonna pay for my mortgage , I still have to keep my day job to support my family. You can’t blame Fresno Airbnb for last minute arrival. You knew they gonna be there that week. I knew they gonna be there that week. They promote the event 3 weeks earlier so there is no excuse there. Be accountable and take ownership to poor planning.

Lao people do support Lao people that is why most of our events is successful. For example, Lao Food Festival, Lao New Year, and Sabaidee Fest. One hater does not account for all Lao people. It irritates me when people say "you Lao people this and that, we/they talk a lot of shit". No it's that one individual that is hating not all Lao people. Hating is individual not universal.

Do people just doesn’t want a southeast Asian festival anymore because that’s what going to happen. Give them a chance to make things right, I don’t support the so called mistreatment or the disorganization or mismanagement, but I do support the future generations of culture, unity and friendship of our people. And I want to continue supporting the international artists also and seeing them come overseas to perform here.
You can tell the Lao artist overseas are very happy and very grateful being here. You can tell because they cry because of being here.
They get to experience the America lifestyle.

I think there were several mistakes that happened. If you know Salong, you should advised him to get a project manager to organize and plan. It will save from future chaos. In terms of Fresno, I think the most shocking part was that the hosts didn’t stay with the performers. It’s basically saying the location doesn’t feel safe enough even for us, but we’ll leave you stranded there to fend for yourself. Additionally I’d recommend contracts, specifically non disclosure agreements for influencers, staff, and performers in the future.

lol with the NDA they won’t be able to complain haha unless they want to be sued. 😅 I think that’s just the mistake… when you have these events, most do have contracts generated. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to do them and most are for media coverage. Just a bit of advice to reduce some future hassle. I think ultimately those that want to attend will continue to support and those who won’t, were never supportive to begin with.
Most of these mistakes have little to do with Salong, it’s the people he assigned to take care of the artists that didn’t do a very good job. The Fresno, the girl who rent the Air BnB are not even from Fresno and that Idiot driver (Jack) knowing the place is not safe and he still abandoned them with host.

There was a data leak indicating projected ticket sales of $4.3 million. In addition to ticket sales, there will also be revenue from merchandise sales, sponsorships, and donations. Furthermore, there were performances by the artist at various locations - The amount of money you profited from this artist, performers, and volunteers because you made them believe this is for the culture is beyond. If you can't define that as pure greed and abuse - I don't know what else to describe that. Evil?

I agree it’s not all salong fault . The intention could have been there but the direction started to spread out too thin , financially. Having VIP sections , different stages , merchandise with the logos , sabaidee logo buses etc . The money spent on that could have been directed to other financial areas that are needed . Keep it humble and simple . I’m speaking from years of experience in special events project management and artist bookings working with tour management and contract negotiations. I understand how the financial aspect , next time he should keep it simple and humble it will help with a lot of the headaches etc

It sounds like organizing was a problem. Especially if you have so many people involved there is bound to be miscommunication. Hopefully everyone learns what works and what doesn't.

The way Vanda took advantages of the Audience to promote his tour as if he is something big to everyone in USA but only a National star to Kamen. Vanda also fly in 1st class with his production and stayed in fancy air bnb. Let me breakdown to you in finances.
Ticket sales avg $150 x 7,000 people. Even with vip, free admissions lets say he makes 3500 people pay. 3500x$150= $525,000!!! Low park estimate
Merch look like 50% was sold and got from Laos slave worker for $2-5 merch sell for $20-50 net profit $50,000
Beer and drinks. $15 plus $5 refills. 7,000 about 30% might buy on market avg for events which comes out to 2100 customers spent avg $50 -100 on drinks in 3 days bc there was no ohtsode food or drink allowed in park unless RV.
$100 x 2100= $210,000
Parking fee and RV = $20 x 2,500 cars
$100 x 50
Net profit $100,000
Sponsors I saw was cambodian cogniac and a few big sponsors. Easily additional $100,000+
Vendor booth @ $3,000 each. Lets say some got free. Lets ball park 15 booth paid 3,000 ..
Net profit $30,000-50,000
Lets not include the rights to the artist musics by pimping Sopana as Suge knight recruiting and exploiting Lao artist for dirt cheap working on a side gig for sholong racking in additional $$$
Also pimping out PAP Beat to Hmong Enertainment group like Silver young..
Plus tours.. last year made $20k avg per tour.
Add that up!! Total net ball park net profit $2.5-4million not including tour, exclusive music rights, etc and sponsorship. Thats why he wont file the business as a Non Profit because that finance is easily public info. Of course he will say its a lost because how else you going to get a big business loan in year 3??? When you have $3-4million in capital

On top of that, he goes and put our community money back into white man by renting out venues like in Fresno art theatre. How come he dont reachout to the community and host it there and recirculate the money back into our community??? We have halls thats own by Hmongs in Fresno. People support him but he is nowhere to be found when local business can use the artist for business tractions. How about all the business that help hang that stupid SBDF posters on their windows? How come he dont have artist go say thanks to community for promo??? Where is Aebae bae and Mr International? Lets bet if Cooking with Nana husband non profit organization wasnt there she wont even cook for free unless she has some benefit to it.

You say Sabaidee Fest won’t need local artists but they absolutely do. It’s a win win for both parties in that the ‘Fest don’t have to pay the hefty fees bringing headlining artists would and it’s giving exposure to these “local” or underrated artists that many people may not have heard of before. I can honestly tell you that I’ve followed more influencers/artists because of Sabaidee Fest ☺️

First and foremost read and understand the CONTRACT.
You signed the contract and that’s how it rolls.
if they broke the contract then it’s a different story and time to lawyer up.
People expect too much. This is a huge event, especially for ASIANS. I know for a fact I can’t operate something this grand so
Mistakes will be made.
HOPEFULLY they will learn from their mistakes on their future events.
Even an event that is so huge like EDC, their events aren’t perfect.
i think i can go on and on to the haters out there, you can either keep hating and bring the Asian Community down, ignore SB Fest, or appreciate what they have going thus far.

The team he put together is garbage, most of us can see that. They're either Inexperience so they just use whoever sounds good like they know wtf they're doing that's willing to do it for cheap or free volunteer publicity exposure or they can't afford people with real Experience with these types of even coordination because it ain't cheap if you want quality people with years of experiences. I understand why people get mad because they Paid and Spent XXX of money and didn't have a good experience. THE VALUE for their dollars WAS NOT THERE. Compare to something like EDC Las Vegas where tickets were $500+ for a 3 day event. If the value was there, I'm sure Majority of people wouldn't complain as much. Then the treatment of Artists behind the curtains too. that's a double whammy.

Wow for someone to consider selling their property just to cover cost of event. That is really a big sacrifice. If the budget not there i would not recommend such a big event and barely a budget, at the end of the day we ourself will be broke. I never been to festivals i avoid drama and jail lol

Local artists should understand they’re really just fillers, they’re not headliners lol. “Influencer” are used to advertise the fest. It all comes down to what their agreement is. If you don’t like your contract, dont do it. If you did it, then stop crying about it and take it as a lesson. lol

There's mistakes... I think he needs to get a real organizer to help him. Local artist can't get mad cuz im sure they was told. I wish someone local could of help with the AirBnb booking. Lesson learn. Everyone want to voice their opinions but has anyone tried to even do what he do. It's a bizz local artist aint needed. Sooner or later local artist not needed. I have a friend who’s a local artist and he was asked to perform at SBDF, the contract was that he get a stage time to showcase his talent. He asked for a commendation for travel, hotel stays but they don’t do commendation and he was not happy about it. Oh well 😂😂

Lao New Year in Texas, Tennessee, Louisiana etc get bigger every year due to Lao people Huk Pang Gun. Lao people are generally hospitable and enjoy hosting visitors. Last year I was shown some of the books by xxx and only the Pechanga show made some money. All other shows either breaks even or took a little loss when you factored expenses into hosting the artists. Now for planning for a year and still have this much issues, the planners need to be fired. Lao people can’t do anything right too many people hating on their own people. If you added in the fees per the transaction of the event and security were it cost the most, guy barely break even after all the payout. Just like EDC, they nearly went bankrupt, until the 5 years where they started to see some profit.
