    I love Ti! Not as much as Ni... But the two cognitive functions work so well together!

    I'm INTP. If anybody want to train Ti, I'd recommend studying mathematics (you don't have to be a mathematician for that): mathematics it is Ti in action. For those of you that find math difficult, try to watch a movie or a series in which there is a crime and the path to solve it is through deductive reasoning. You can also watch Dr. House, he's INTP too and gives you an idea of how works an introverted thinking dominant.

      My math and seductive reasoning are awful. Autocorrect changed it to seductive. I ... kind of like it. Definitely need to study math again though.
      I did enjoy what I watched of Dr. House.

      I compare being a Ti dominant with a kind of "architect" of ideas, building blocks being the assumptions, and out of it, slowly creating the whole structure. That's why INTP are so finicky about definitions and inconsistencies, because we understand how a particular system of thought, theory or ideology can collapse if the foundations are not solid or do not really match.

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  Před 6 lety +2

      I wonder if ISTPs see Ti differently. I’ve heard the term “Architect of Thought” for INTP before. Love it.
      I can see how things would spiral out of hand and become more and more incorrect if 1 piece of information were inaccurate.

      Weird but I am an INTP that sucks at math. I really struggled with Algebra 1 & 2. Geometry and Statistics came a little more natural to me. Maybe I am a dumb INTP variant 😂

    • @antoniofdez
      @antoniofdez Před 6 lety

      Geometry and statistics continue to be branches of the mathematical tree, if some other branches are tougher to you, I don't think it denies your INTPness. But in general, I think INTP are adept to be mathematicians (not saying all INTPs are mathematicians necessarily), but just as I think engineer is suitable for INTJs, I see math as a basically big INTP enterprise.

    Hi Sherman, your video makes sense to me. - ESTP
    As a kid I took everything apart, radio, skelter, moped, airgun, just to learn how it worked. I wanted to understand the function of every part and how the parts worked together as a system. My ENTP son does the same, he took apart his computer last week and it took quite some time before it worked again but he knows now what all the parts are doing. :)
    Learning more about cognitive functions to expand my Ti model for MBTI is another example.
    I'm also very much into the right definitions because one different word can completely change the meaning of a concept to me.

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  Před 6 lety

      Thanks for the comment! You TPs are so intriguing. That seems like a really good thing to share Ti-Fe with your son.
      I used to be really interested in building computers and websites as well. Wonder where that part of me went lol.

    • @baaf10
      @baaf10 Před 6 lety

      Yeah, it's cool to have an ENTP son. We are both very curious and independent thinkers. He's more into theoretical possibilities while I'm usually more into the practical applications but with our Ti-Fe mid-functions it sometimes feels like we are at the same wave-length. :)

    I think I use Ti in an odd way. I always,struggle to explain things but I try.

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  Před 6 lety +1

      Same. It was a big struggle when learning Japanese, but it taught me to find other ways of saying what I wanted... going the long way around or use metaphors.

    "Ti" is my main function. I love puzzles since I'm a child... hehe... All the functions you said are related to me. I think "Blast" can be really useful or completely dangerous... (I've been trying to keep it calm since I'm a child). ;-)

    I love the fantasy themes man! Class design/character building in RPGs is probably one of my favorite things as an INTP. I especially enjoy older style RPGs because they tend to have deeper/more complex systems of character progression which tend to give you plenty of options to play around with. Not to say that newer ones are bad or overly simple, this is just something I have noticed.

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  Před 6 lety

      Thank you thank you. Too complex of a system breaks my brain because I see all the possibilities but can't "store the data" well enough to make use of em! That's my excuse anyway lol.
      With Geek Psychology, I've been getting stuck recently with creating a system that has tons of options to cover every facet of personality I can think of, or streamlining it so that I can quickly introduce people to personality type and personal growth. It's been a strong push-pull for a long time now.

    • @Not_Morgoth
      @Not_Morgoth Před 6 lety

      I get where you're coming from. I imagine it's a fine balancing act between simplicity and depth, for the sake of conveying the message in an approachable way that still retains the necessary amount of nuance/descriptiveness. From what I've seen so far though, I'd say you're doing quite a good job of it!

    Interesting.. you know what Ive always wanted to create an all-magic role rpg game. No Swordsman, archers etc. Just wizards, sorcerers, warlocks and witches.
    I think I'm gonna make my main character who's a wizard an INTP. The sorcerer will be an INTJ for sure.

    What i hate about this kind of explanation is that people think the storage and processing of data and the way it's used is a conscience thing. Most of the time it's not. For example, i solved a complex pc problem and that's no problem for me but if they ask me how i solved it i can't explain the process backwards .

    • @GeekPsychology
      @GeekPsychology  Před 5 lety

      Yeah. Introverted Judging can be rough.
      What helps you explain it? Metaphor / analogies? Clearly defined terms?

    • @robertboender5816
      @robertboender5816 Před 5 lety

      @@GeekPsychology it's difficult to explain in words but will try. Image my brain is a tornado with all possible outcomes and puzzles pieces floating around. New pieces are added all the time and different outcomes swirl around until the puzzle piece is found to come to a conclusion of the problem or part of a problem. When it's part off a problem the process starts over for the next part. This process can go very fast or slow depending on the complexity of the problem.

      @@robertboender5816, Carl Jung said Introverted Thinkers have difficulty with explaining things not because they find words difficult, but because the entire time they're explaining it, they're thinking about the material, and not the student.
      If you've ever had a substitute teacher walk into a classroom and just start doing a bunch of equations (while only just reading *straight* from the textbook), than you know what it's like to have a Ti dominant try to explain something to you.
      They're really good at explaining it to *themselves* (because they already know all the terminology), but by definition, due to repressed extraverted feeling, they can't imagine NOT knowing all their own words.
      To be frank, what you're describing sounds less like thinking, and more like intuition of some kind.
      Ti-dominants can (and will) talk for *countless hours* before going "but, I mean, that's just the gist of it".
      If you're having more of a problem putting something into words, and less of a problem "getting to the point", you're probably struggling with some kind of Ni-Se axis (introverted intuition and extraverted sensing, by definition, are initially non-verbal in nature), as opposed to Ti-Fe or even Ne-Si (as always imagine INFP as the really quiet kid nobody talks to, and then one day you say "hi" and come to find out why -- they *never shut up about their fandoms, lol*); Ne-Si is verbal, and expressive in nature -- my Grandmother is ISFJ, and despite being Introverted and a sensor, *nobody that knows her even a little bit would ever suggest she's anything less than a chatterbox*.
      I've heard ISTPs have a hard time explaining themselves, but that's because of how blunt they are -- they see themselves as just "saying it how it is", while Fi axis (by definition) see that as putting on heirs, or making a show of it ("he's so insensitive" or "why is he trying to act so macho?")
      Tbh, I'm not sure what you mean by your metaphor -- you talk about the complexity of problems, but you never mention how that ties in with talking to people.

    i think you are doing quite well though, that's definitely more than just trying.
    But tbh the "Blast" kinda gets you into trouble,even though you are pointing out just the discrepancies just to help the other party make things better, you are perceived as someone who can't appreciate things and focuses only on the negatives or is being a jerk....and definitely not having a filter is another add on...and idk if im making sense but not doing it seems more suffocating (for the lack of a better term) in a way.
