I just bought one and I love it. I have not taken advantage of the Encore program. I have not found any bad points about it, this car can last and be owned for life
When the video started I thought the roof hoop - roof rack was a bit over cooked. Then I realised that it was the Sydney Harbour Bridge well behind. Seriously Tom, I see Lexus as an alternative to the German brands especially for the driver who'se aspirational but also values almost hyper reliabiltiy. The notion of the whole Lexus stable as being available for these drivers is pragmatic and potentially a profitable business plan for Lexus 'going forward'. As for the Lexus LX 570, I surmise that the driver who sees it as it is, is going to 'go for' a 'king of the road' stance, albeit trucklike.
I really like the LX. It's probably the only large SUV I properly like. It looks great, is supremely comfortable and very well kitted. I don't even care if it doesn't have phone mirroring. I don't need that kind of stuff. But I also feel the main problem for the LX is not the age or thirsty engine. It's that it's a flagship with flagship level pricing. And as a flagship, people expect more. Much more. And as a flagship, it doesn't have features that the lesser models have (such as smart phone mirroring) which makes it a hard pill to swallow. A pity really. Such a lovely car imho (I know some find the look hideous).
@@chasingcars Yeah, but then other manufacturers would have moved on to 3rd generation stuff. The Japanese are whizz kids when it comes to tech, so there's no excuse at all. Even the engines are outdated.
You’re right, but the point is that they do it on purpose - they know the cars don’t have the flashiest features. They prefer tried and tested methods. That won’t suit buyers that need the newest convenience features right now, but Toyota doesn’t really care about that.
Hot tip for you, it’s to big, I went from a Prado to the LX diesel, got rid of it after 12 months because it was a pain in the butt in a car park or on tight roads. I wish Lexus would do a GX in Australia which is basically this car but in a Prado size.
Hi, you mentioned, three times, SNOW!!! Must to be a realy tough winter this year in AUS. I live in Alps mountains ( EU not NZ) and for the last 10 years we did't get any.So lucky you. If you know, how to drive in snow conditions, all you need are good winter tires, without them even Lexus will not go far!
This is crazy. Analogue instruments. Toyota’s outdated infotainment system (are those rear seat DVD players???). Side folding rear seats. Half-arsed powered tailgate. A long list of missing tech. They’ve just thrown a few “luxury” touches on a fundamentally agricultural base. It’s generations behind the Europeans luxury brands. A lot to compromise on for “Lexus” 4WD... just buy the Toyota version if you need a true off-roader with hints of luxury.
Toyota has a lot of money but their Lexus products always look a generation behind other manufacturers. No Apple play or Android features. I've checked the 2021 Escalade - it is so advanced an sophisticated in execution it makes the LX look like a horse drawn carriage. I have a soft spot for Lexus but their conservative approach of always lagging behind is a deal breaker for me.
@@chasingcars Fine, reability and other fine stuff are not mutually exclusive. These days insurance companies offer roadside assist cover. If your car breaks down you immediately give them a call and they send someone within 30 minutes while you check the internet on your phone.
Thanks for the review. Impressive vehicle if and when you have the need for something of this type. The vehicle subscription concept seems good but as they say the devil will be in the detail.
I don't think it's a car subscription program...more of a complimentary service program. Lexus encore really is quite awesome. For one us owners of lower models get to loan a hilux for free amongst other perks.
Depends on the way you look at it, but the new On Demand feature isn't to do with service. You get 4 bookings of up to 8 days in length within your first 3 years of ownership - you don't need to give up your own car to get it
Absolutely laughable that still no smartphone integration and they've even got the joystick controller which is older than the even worse touch pad. Lexus are living in another dimension.
Tell me, why do the Japanese take forever to update their cars? Look at the Germans. The cars are improved noticeably every model year or so. Generations replaced every 5/6 years or so. But this car? 10 years now

Not a deliberate oversight. It's a point I have made on so many Lexus videos - having driven a lot of them in recent weeks, I've probably gotten used to it, as many buyers will too. It's far from the best, but repetition does breed familiarity
Damn legit of this huge luxury suv! 😍 . But sadly in Malaysia, in my country it price cost more than 1 million ringgit. Which is cost so huge amount for us living here 😂. The price without insurance and roadtax is RM1.2million tho. After calculate with insurance and roadtax it be RM1.4millions 😂

Rather stupid of Toyota not to give the option of the V8 turbo diesel on the top spec model! And STILL no Android/ Apple?! Absolutely unforgivable! Too many out of touch old farts in Toyota's top management tier!
OMG that's gaudy! What's with the teeny weeny bottle tops for brakes? Can those 3rd row seats and tailgate be operated manually after the corrugations have killed the electrics? how much fuel does it take driving in city/hway?
Except the cockpit/ infotainment is far outdated!
