      @@vladimanisor1562 I have spent much time in Romania over the years and I discussed this with many Romanians and there is I would say: a 50/50 opinion on this matter? :-) I liked it as a country and was very surprised how european and enchanting it was? However, there is a considerable underbelly of corruption that greatly hinders it as a country, albiet a very lovely country, and Ceaucescu is a very big part of of Romanian history and I would say he did many great things as well, however, we don't hear very much about those - just western propaganda emphasizing and demonising his downfall - namely because he didn't fit into their world view in the scheme of things?!

    • @vladimanisor1562
      @vladimanisor1562 Před 2 lety +2

      @@GG-hu9dn I agree with you. Ceaușescu was a patriot and wanted our country to thrive but he was also inarguably a hypocrite (owning a bonafide mansion during an age of systematization, having an entire country to “godify” him and Elena, the couple owning numerous fake titles such as chemestry engineers etc. etc.). Sure, he did wonders for Romania’s economy but the way in which he did this were unprecedented (reducing imported goods, forcing Romanian citizens to bare power and food shortages and basically SELLING german and jewish ethnics to their respective countries). He DID lead an oppressive regime and he DID abuse of human rights (freedom of speech and freedom of movement, per se). So comparing these to what we have today, with some small exceptions, I’d say we have it better today.
