To those who criticized her appearance: I've seen contestants all kinds of odd, messy outfits. I believe Susan did her best to look nice, wearing what she considered appropriate for her performance. By doing that, she showed more respect for the judges and audience than they did for her.

She had people rolling their eyes in the audience, the judges giving that "here we go" look, and blew the place away. Audience and judges were giving a standing ovation but when she was given a pass, it was like a shock to her. Her voice and personality is wonderful but her humbleness is inspiring.

I wasn't so thrilled with her Albums; overseers tamed her gorgeous voice; but when seeing her singing on stage (via CZcams) there's no one to boss her around and she lets her voice sore to the heavens. Those are the gems I copy to listen to, though I have three of her albums.

Just watched it again, and I always will. As I have said before, this changed my whole life. I did not even know what Le Mis was, or the song, but, it saved my life, from suicide. I am still alive, because of Susan Boyle. We as a family, have bought all of Susan's C'Ds, My elderly mother too, and my grown up sons took me twice to see Les Miserables at the theatre. We do own the DVD of the movie, as well. Hugh, fantastic! Anne, brilliant! Russell, was, trying his best.

I have watched this over 100 times through the years and still have the feeling of exhilaration and inspiration from Susan. I watch it when I need to be inspired and have put it down as my most favorite video ever . She is amazing and they weren't expecting much from her and had no idea a Legend was about to be born in those few moments.

She has such a haunting voice. It's amazing to me that she hadn't been "discovered" until this audition. In an interview once, I heard she'd done recordings for something or other. Whoever she did that for missed the ship, BIG TIME! Just so very happy for her that her dreams finally came through, and that she had/has friends who are caring enough to help her navigate these waters. I can't even imagine how fast her life changed after this. Not sure how many would be able to handle something like that. God bless her.

My introduction to Susan Boyle was because someone sent a link to me. I have loved her since. So many years later I want to say again that I hold her very close. Susan is, and has always been, a class act!
I know Susan, im from Bathgate. Shes a lovely person. The fame hasnt gone to her head. If anything she gets embarrassed talking about it. We are licky as she drinks in our local when shes home and is always on the karaoke. So we get free comcerts. She still uses public transport around town amd lives in her mums council house that she bought. Not a mansion. Shes so humble. If you ever get the chance to come to Scotland, come to Bathgate and go to a bar called The Bilbardie and if Susans in town you will get to meet and chat to her!

People always say "Don't judge a book by it's cover." And that's admirable. But they are referring to people with "hidden" talents brought to light. I am so happy for Susan Boyle's success! But what if, by chance, she or someone else disparaged for his or her appearance, failed in the attempt to showcase those talents? Are they not worthy just because they exist, but having no apparent "value" to others? Yes, they are more than worthy! And society demeans those that cannot impress others, for whatever the reason. Just a thought... 🤔😔💕

I have watched this clip so many times since she first performed and it ALWAYS brings tears to my eyes.
I have watched this over 100 times through the years and still have the feeling of exhilaration and inspiration from Susan. I watch it when I need to be inspired and have put it down as my most favorite video ever . She is amazing and they weren't expecting much from her and had no idea a Legend was about to be born in those few moments.
I never get tired of this. A truly tremendous woman.

She has such a haunting voice. It's amazing to me that she hadn't been "discovered" until this audition. In an interview once, I heard she'd done recordings for something or other. Whoever she did that for missed the ship, BIG TIME! Just so very happy for her that her dreams finally came through, and that she had/has friends who are caring enough to help her navigate these waters. I can't even imagine how fast her life changed after this. Not sure how many would be able to handle something like that. God bless her.

I agree this performance was much better than her performance of the same song on AGT Champions.
But she IS a champion, ever since that first day on BGT in 2009. She's great.

My introduction to Susan Boyle was because someone sent a link to me. I have loved her since. So many years later I want to say again that I hold her very close. Susan is, and has always been, a class act!
I know Susan, im from Bathgate. Shes a lovely person. The fame hasnt gone to her head. If anything she gets embarrassed talking about it. We are licky as she drinks in our local when shes home and is always on the karaoke. So we get free comcerts. She still uses public transport around town amd lives in her mums council house that she bought. Not a mansion. Shes so humble. If you ever get the chance to come to Scotland, come to Bathgate and go to a bar called The Bilbardie and if Susans in town you will get to meet and chat to her!
