    That was a theramin that Jimmy was playing around with. He had so much fun with it.....did you catch the huge grin on his face as he and Plant played off each other? Jimmy was never as happy as he was when he shared a stage with Robert.

    It is interesting how 2 legendary bands differ live Pink Floyd stay as close the the studio version as possible and then just stretch your soul just a bit more, but Led Zeppelin had the attitude that you've heard the studio version so many times let's just have some fun and totally jam the fu*k out of it.

      Yes! I think Zeppelin was the pioneer of changing up concert songs. My favorite is the half hour version of dazed and confused.

    Flippin' Heck, what a killer guitar solo from Jimmy Page!! Wow!! They really went to town on this version - mind blowing! An incredible band, all members playing an equal part - fantastic drums from John Bonham, wonderful bass from John Paul Jones (such a talented musician who plays many instruments), Jimmy Page, one of the best guitarists ever and brilliant vocals from Robert Plant. Whole Lotta Love with its unforgettable riff - there's not a lot more you can say really. Many thanks for the reaction guys, I can see you really enjoyed this one!!

    they were at their best during this tour.Zeppelin always made there songs better live. their show built up to just under 4 hours long. George Harrison from the Beatles went to see then during this time and asked a friend how long their show was. he said 4 hours Harrison said"im not staying here for 4 hours". George then admitted he stayed the whole time and was never bored. best band ever. best live band ever.

    1975 Seattle 17 years old and not quite ready for Zep they literally felt like a hard heavy wind pounding you with volume all night long so cool!!!

      Yes yes yes. Also, I mean this completely utterly totally: All Led Zeppelin. As genius and legendary as Page and Plant are, Jones and Bonham are even more so. They both have influenced pretty much ANYONE playing bass/organ in Jones’ case and Drums in Bonham’s. Read John Paul Jones’ career boo sometime.

    Jimmy uses a theremin (the object he's waving his hands around to make radio noises). Jimmy was a wizard that night lemme tell you.

    I highly recommend reading "Light and Shade, conversations with Jimmy Page." The nearly decade of studio work before Zeppelin is astonishing. He played with everyone from Tom Jones to James Bond soundtracks. And Jones too.

    "Is that an antenna?" Yes, actually... the vertical antenna controls the pitch of the theremin; the horizontal antenna controls the volume. The theremin responds to the proximity of the player's hands within the electromagnetic field around the antennas. It's the only musical instrument that doesn't need to be touched to be played.

    Wisest thing my daddy ever did was not to allow me to see Zeppelin in concert in 1977 when I was 15. I would have been lost to the road. Robert and Jimmy are THE definition of rock gods. Love your passion guys!!! Great reaction! 👍👍

    Jimmy is using a Sonic Wave theremin during the wild middle part of the studio and live recordings of Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love. The Sonic Wave features only one antenna, controlling the pitch, while loudness is controlled by a volume knob. The man is a genius.

    Man this is old times, I was having my 3 rd kid when this came out in 1969 radio played the hell out of this song. Not this version. But the old version which is much better.🎶🎶🍻🍻💗💗

    Brilliant concert - Comments have mentioned "Dazed & Confused" - from the same concert......If you thought you have seen it all - be prepared for one hell of a surprise.....I wont give any spoilers & ask others don't. You all know which part I am talking about so let's get a reaction when they see ..... & hear. Omg ! ! ! - It's not called Dazed & Confused for nothing, although this live version could be called - Stunned & blown away. Truly awesome experience. Great reaction to this & the Theremin antenna.

    Harrison or Lennon said they played for 20 min's sometimes didn't bother tuning the guitars since the screaming girls drowned it out. They asked Jimmy how long they played? Page said 2.5 to 3 hrs. Blew everybody else outta there.

    My favorite version of this song is the Knebworth show in '79. No bells and whistles. Just straight up rock and roll and it sounded just as powerful.

    Jimmy is using what's called a theremin. It's kind of the equivalent of an invisible string instrument. He waves his hand in certain positions in front of it to produce the sound and the pitch. Pretty funky!

    That thing is using is called a thermone. It uses static electricity to change the pitch and sound

    I was there I saw that same concert at the L.A. Forum back in the 70s I don't remember it was like 1975-76 and then they came back one last time a couple of years later to tour their Presence album and I saw that also.. this is kind of an old video and nobody will probably even read this. Does anybody remember Linda Lovelace? she was at that concert and she introduced the band...
