Do you ever wonder what conifers you can grow in your zone? I know here in the South (zone 7b) I get asked all the time what conifers can thrive in this area. I have experimented with growing conifers in this climate for the last 5 years and in this video I point out some of my favorite varieties.
So sit back, relax and enjoy this tour of one of those most beautiful shipments of conifers we have ever received!
    Hi!
My name is Justin and I have my managed my family's business (S&K Greenhouse) for the last 10 years! It is a local garden center in Shelby, NC that my family started around 25 years ago.
We have a strong desire to discuss and teach gardening to the online community and welcome anyone who wants to learn. Though we have been involved in the plant world for decades we have found that there is always something to learn when it comes to gardening.
Whether you are a master gardener or just starting out this channel is for you. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch our videos!

I would be at your nursery all of the time if I were closer. Nurseries around me seem to be scared to bring these in. I think customers fear planting them too. Drainage and sun requirement are key.I would also mention to viewers how each handle significant icing events being in a battle zone climate. Also, a lot of cryptomeria do well in our 7b.

One of the best conifer videos I've seen. My zone 7b is a lot different than your 7b. Oklahoma gets so much wind combined with drought/flood/drought/flood. But I think with watering many conifers can get through the heat and droughts. It's the bugs! The growing season for bugs and diseases is so much longer in bad places like this. I'm curious if you have the same fungus issues with blue spruces that so many have, and...boring beetles. Do they kill your trees? They do here.

I have several Hinoki in pots in 7b that seem to have issues with dropping all of the shaded needles. So the interior will hollow out if the tree isn't pruned to allow light penetration. These are nice thick trees but they will thin themselves if need be.If the tree is young they will bud back. The slender may not be as bad, at least that's what I'm seeing after having them 2 to 5 years. In the ground I'm sure would be a bit different.
