I'm from Seattle, lived in Austin, and just moved from Portland, Or. to Charlottesville with my husband. We are considering a move to Richmond for work and, for the life of me, I just do not understand the housing prices in Richmond. For the size/things to do in Richmond, and the quality of the housing, what gives?? Totally insane.

Thanks for your comment... If you're from Seattle then you are definitely familiar with HIGH priced real estate! My Admin is from there and has been an agent for 20+ so we've had alot of conversations about the real estate market there. Richmond is a small city with a big city vibe and comparatively speaking, it's much less than other nearby cities such as DC, VA Beach, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York, etc. If you're considering the move here then maybe you should consider some of the suburbs such as Chesterfield, Henrico, Midlothian, etc. I have a few videos: The Highlands, Brandermill, Woodlake, and Chester that highlight those areas and may interest you. Let me know if I can help!

My husband and I are looking to move to Richmond in about a year but we are looking to rent. Not buy. My daughter went to VCU so we know this old great city.

That's great! What's prompting the move and what types of things will be important to you when looking for a rental?

@@RichmondVirginiaLife places to eat and museums art galleries parks to hike. City vibe. We are from New York so I love the city but have been living in Virginia Beach and Fairfax Virginia for close to thirty years. I’m retired and I’m an artist so looking to break out into the art scene. Our youngest daughter went to VCU and graduated with two bachelor degrees in journalism so we got to know the city on long visits we fell in love with the Cary town area. Fan district. Now looking to make a big change. Virginia Beach is great but not much to do here. I’m a very active seventy year old and looking to explore myself in a great city. I love the old houses and buildings and Richmond’s charm. Yes we are seriously considering Richmond

That's great, it certainly sounds like you know exactly what you want and the areas you would like to be in, so you have a nice head start for sure! Richmond definitely has all the things that you mentioned therefore would be a perfect fit for your needs and interests. Let's stay in touch, I'd be glad to help y'all in anyway that I can. Is your daughter still in the Richmond area as well?
