Thanks for the tips! The truck kept kicking me off the WiFi connection with my iPhone for CarPlay. To get around this, turn off the truck, get a usb battery charger (portable like you use to charge your phone on the go). Use the “data cable” that comes with the cam. It will provide power to the cam while your truck is off and you can have the WiFi connection with your phone w/o the truck killing the wifi connection to the dash cam. I decided to get the Gen5diy rear view mirror adapter so I wouldn’t have to run power from the kick panel. If you want to access the vid on the SD card in the cam while you’re on scene of an accident, carry a portable charger and USB cable that plugs into your cam.

Looks like you can just buy the hardwire kit and install it on most cameras!
