    Did you know Singer makes their own proprietary snap on presser feet and snap on adapters? If you have a Singer machine, it can be confusing navigating which foot goes with which shank. In this video, we describe the difference between the Singer "skinny" proprietary feet/adapters and standard snap on feet/adapters.

    Thank you so much for this very helpful video. Ive been very frustrated with my sewing machine for almost a 9 months now trying to figure out how to use these pressure feet that are "universal" i got off of Amazon. I will now be shopping with you all so I can know I will be getting compatable products. I hope to upgrade some day but that is costly. Looking forward to watching more of your videos!

    THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU! Clears up a lot of confusion I had. I was given a Singer machine that had the "skinny" adapter and mating feet you describe. I ordered a set of feet online, and then I found this video and realized they wouldn't work with my machine as it was. :( You saved me $20 since I didn't open the feet and can take them back. :)

    I threw some purchases. Have ended up with several of these skinny adapters feet but I don't have any adapters. I just figured I was going to put them off to the side. There wasn't anything in spectacular. Impressive about them and I'll just keep using the original feet that I'm accustomed to seeing and using and maybe some of the wider adapter snap on adapter feet cuz I do have a few of those

    buying all the presser feet. Now I am ready to junk the machine after having it serviced twice and still having the same
    TENSION problem. eRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
    Can I buy an adapter to allow my sisters era 1972 Singer 513 to use my presser feet? Her Shank
    is definitely long, skinny and straight. What is the purpose of an Adapter if not to use on a different machine?

    • @SewingPartsOnline
      @SewingPartsOnline  Před 2 lety +2

      I don't have a video specifically on that; however, if you put your presser foor lifter down and measure from the middle of the presser foot screw to the needle plate, that can help you determine the shank. If it is around 1/2 inch, it is low shank; around 1 inch, it would be high shank. If it is more than that, it's possibly a slant shank. I verified your machine is a slant shank.

      Oftentimes, a generic shank was changed out at some point and that is the reason the new shank isn't working. I normally recommend 446014. It comes with the shank and 2 corresponding feet. That eliminates the guesswork. It is currently out of stock; however, you can still place your order and we would ship it just as soon as it arrives in. Some of the presser feet for the older Singers are all one piece; there isn't an adapter. However, if it does have snap on feet and the adapter doesn't have a button, you can lift the presser foot lifter to put your foot in the high position.
