- SWIMMING WITH CROCODILES, my home on the Bloomfield River. This was my childhood home, yes we swam in the river inhabited by crocodiles but that was along time ago and when crocodiles had been hunted to near extinction in Australia. We had our own jetty and trolley ramp to retrieve our vessel. Great place to live and grow up chasing barramundi and redbream in the rivers and Crayfish and coral trout on the reef.

Was your dad's name Ben?
Sure was buddy and I remember your family too wow how are you guys
"Little bit crazy" you said. Yep "Gone troppo" is a very real state of mind in Northern Australia. It happened to me when I spent a few years in Cairns. Had to to fit in though. 🤣🤣 Gorgeous part of the world though. Just got to be croc and stinger aware.
I remember that house! Used to look at it every morning from the school bus window. Still look into the vacant block every time I'm back up home👍 like you say, it'll always be home❤
Thanks for the comment, appreciate it buddy, It was definitely a special place to grow up for sure.
looks like a magic place to grow up.....fasure
Glen, it was. As a kid I always had a set line overnight for a barra or redbream, the river was majic early mornings going to check the line.
I know that spot. What happened to the house? Tell you what google maps sends you to the Bloomfield near Wujal if you search for Woobadda Creek, a camping a swimming spot on the cape trib track. Very confusing for tourists like me. Could have contributed to the recent attack.
Hi there, yeah house was torn down. Yes sometimes the maps are well off, I have noticed that too. I hear what your saying about the confusion although there are crocodile warning signs at each river access point. It amazes me that people still do crazy things when there are sign posts warning not to swim there because of crocodiles.
John dockrell... Dockrell landing hey...
That's it hey bro
Was that in the late 80’s
Hi Peter from the early 70's through to late 80's
Where's the crocs?
They saw me but I didn't see them.
Considering moving there hey. Be a real adjustment Im sure
Its so close to Cairns now days about 3hrs as apposed to the 12 hour drive when I was a kid. like anywhere it has its challenges but its still the best place I have ever lived although I am very bias.
@@DaintreeJD My concern is isolation, and not knowing how the people are there? That said, I LOVE nature even crocs. I think there is a good lifestyle waiting to be carved out
@nobodyproductions9453 fair call, yes we had the crocs to consider but common sense kept us safe. Back in the day, there were some sketchy folks and probably still are (like everywhere), although that aside it still beats the city life for me.
