Interesting. But for the lay-person like me, any indication of age, era, origins? Presumably Roman? Or is there a possibility that pack animals were dragging weighted litters?
These "ruts" represent a serious mystery. Virtually every attempt at an explanation ends up debunking itself because of the inconsistent nature of the damn things. I would love to see somebody solve it, but I am skeptical that it will happen in my lifetime.

Having seen Land of Chem, it is easy to speculate these channels were conduits for some type of dynamic flow systems. Water? Electricity? These areas would have been higher elevation plateaus to a much lower sea level. Where would the lightning strike in this area?
