Discovering Tibetan Nepal: Manaslu Circuit Trekking, Nepal Himalaya

- 21 days of silent hiking on the Manaslu Circuit, through the Nepal Himalayas, close to Tibet and Annapurna. Join my friend Hung and I on our trek through narrow valleys, along rushing rivers, and over majestic mountains. Rest with us at a Tibetan monastery, go hiking with dogs, goats, yaks, and donkeys, and experience authentic Tibetan and Nepalese life. Trek was in December 2021.

Prayer flags sending wishes in the wind with every thread, sunsets setting fire to the mountains, cheery nuns cooking nourishing treats over a crackling fire, energetic monks playing football over a cliff, loyal dogs guiding lost trekkers along the trail, squeaky prayer wheels spinning endlessly, furry yaks eying strange non-furry humans curiously from afar, swaying bridges hanging high above rushing teal-colored rivers, weary donkeys hauling heavy supplies, shoes sinking abruptly into the snow, majestic mountain goats strutting across the field, milk tea melting treacherously frozen lakes, all powered by Dal Bhat 😋
There were countless little beautiful moments on this trip. We went during the off-season, which primarily meant cold and snow. But it also meant empty tea houses and every opportunity to sit in the kitchens while the tea house owners cooked us dinner, and made a roaring fire with equally warming conversation (most of which we couldn’t understand as it was in Tibetan 😄).

Been 4 times in Nepal for trekking and your excellent video brought back all the beautiful memories. Indeed the best video of Nepal i have watched. Thank you so much
Thank you so much for your kind words 💛🙏🏻 It makes be so happy to bring you back. All the best 😊
This reminds me of all the Tibetan places in Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Sikkim in India. Where ever the Tibetans settle, the areas look very peaceful and comforting.
Arunachal Pradesh and North Bengal too.
That was all Nepal before.
Heaven is myth , Nepal is real . Thanks for such an amazing footage .
Truly 😊 Thank you 💛🙏🏻
THANK YOU FOR Visiting NEPAL..❤❤ These was the best vedio I had ever seen..so peace and relaxing....
Thank you so much for your kind words. It was my pleasure to visit Nepal again ❤

How about you actually go there rather than simpering "of course I felt like I was with you"...??
Talking about treks in Nepal, people mostly know some famous trek destination like EBC or ABC but beside them there are plenty of hidden gems like this. So thank you so much for visiting nepal and showing such hidden sides of nepal to the world.🇳🇵🇳🇵🇳🇵
Very true! I feel that there must be hidden gems all throughout Nepal. I can't wait to come back. What is your favorite hidden gem in Nepal?

@@farhancekh6901 You are just reciting places in Nepal... "Kathmandu" is not a 'hidden gem', it is the capital of the country! You are clearly a moron.
Beautifully edited. Loved your choice for music, minimum dialog. It was akin to hiking with you. Nepal is on my bucket list as is Dharamsala India. Blessings on your journeys.

@@NicholasEager great composition too , top work

Because of the Dalai Lama's association with the CIA, (credit MIT world history) and the US State Department's funding of the DL's compound in Dharmasula, (credit US State Department website), I'm careful what views I accept. My wife is Tibetan, because there were no roads, bridges, airports, trains, indoor plumbing, hospitals, schools, electricity, or infrastructure under the DL, she had to hike with her sick mother and family from Lhasa to the Chinese border as a 12 year old child. I love the entire region including Xin Jiang, but the politics sicken me.
I am from Himachal, India. Dharamshala is kind of like overrated by foreigners and is nothing beautiful according to Himalayan standards imo. There are more beautiful places like Manali, Parvati Vallley, Lahaul Valley, Spiti Valley, Kinnaur, Ladakh that you could visit. The landscape is more beautiful and the surrounding mountains are way bigger. Although if you do want to visit Dharamshala, try doing Indrahar pass trek if you can or you can go upto Triund.
What a great title, discovering Tibetan Nepal. That’s the side of nepal I want to explore, the Tibetan side of it! Thank you for the video.
Thank you so much 💛🙏🏻 After spending five months in Eastern Nepal a few years ago, it was quite interesting to see the cultural differences when trekking in this region. Such a wonderful place.
Stunning! Amazing, thanks for letting the landscape and cultures speak for themselves
Thank you 💛🙏🏻 it’s best if they speak for themselves 😊

Absolutely stunning 4K capture of the beauty of these fairly pristine parts of Nepal. Immersive and serene. Added to my non-EBC bucket list. Thank you.
Thank you 💛🙏🏻 I hope you can check it off your bucket list soon!
The bottles of Coke and Mountain Dew for sale in that café made me smile. The logistics of getting western soda into the mounrtains of Tibet!
It made me smile too! Donkeys are used at the end for sodas, bridge pieces, and all sorts of things 😄
Since I was a child, I've wanted to get to know the Himalayan mountain ranges, along with the culture of Tibetan Buddhism. Hello from Brazil 🤩📌
Thanks for watching 💛 I hope my video gave you a little insight into that culture, and I hope you can visit for yourself sometime soon. More videos in the Himalayas coming soon 😊
did EBC in 2017, always want to do Annapurna Circuit. after watching your video, I think I need to go back. Nepal is just purely amazing country ~~~~~~~~
Nepal is waiting for you to come back. Thanks for watching 😊

Nice to watch something relaxing as this. Just beautiful scenery and peace. The place looks awesome.
Thank you so much 💛🙏🏻 The place was awesomely beautiful and peaceful 😊
Nicholas, your trekking video was like an meditation exercise for me. So tranquil, constantly on the move, no needless hurry, a beautiful story weaved through the magnificence of the Himalayas, Nepal & Tibet border. You & your partner's spinning the prayer wheels at every monastery was truly spiritual & playing with cute pups & furry friends was so genuine. I thought the smart black four legged fella would accompany you guys till the end, he was a traveler. Also, the various cuisines shown along the way were pretty appetizing. Many thanks & kudos on a fantastic travelling experience. Wish to see more of this. I do wish to undertake some of these journeys at 66, let's see how far i succeed in that bucket list.
Your words mean the world to me 💛🙏🏻 I wish our little trekking guide would have followed us longer! See you on the next one 😊
Great filming, great editing. I felt as if i was there on the trail with you. This was therapeutic to watch.
Thank you so much 💛🙏🏻
Nicholas, I thoroughly enjoyed your trek. It was like I was hanging out with you the whole time. I liked the minimal voiceover and all the cute dogs too. I hiked Nepal in 1986 (Khumbu and Annapurna). A highlight of my life and it will be the first place I revisit when my situation allows. I would seriously consider doing the hike you have shared with us. Thanks again.
Thank you so much 💛🙏🏻 I’m happy you enjoyed it. All the best on your trek. Contact me if you have any questions 😊

Very beautiful video! Magic mountains... Cute dogs too! 👍🏻♥️😉
The cute dogs are the best trekking guides too! Thank you so much 💛🙏🏻
That was wonderful, Nicholas and Hung! I did the trek a few years ago and this took me right back. Beautiful film, thank you!

My beautiful Nepal ! Even more beautiful when you watch it on CZcams 🥰🙏🏽
Nepal is truly breathtaking 😊
Thank you for sharing your experience in such an eloquent manner. Insightful and unobtrusive. I see the same scenes I saw in '76 but from the Nepali side. The Himalaya is the home of mindfulness, something humanity needs to regain.
Thank you for your kind words 💛🙏🏻 It touches me to know that I could remind you of your own experience. The Himalayas are truly beautiful and bring mindfulness to any who visit. All the best.
This is also from Nepali side. If i am not wrong, there is no Mansalu trekking route from Tibet. And also Tibet is a plateau and is very dry closer to the Himalayas since those mountains block the moisture from reaching Tibet.
What a journey - this was just incredible. Thanks for the clear HD views!
Glad you enjoyed it! See you next time 😊
Velmi dobře udělané , dokumentární , poznávací video se vším všudy . Jsem ráda , že jsem účastna , děkuji . ♥️♥️♥️

Excellent! I really love your video. Beautifully composed, shot and edited. The contrast of the monastery, stupas, Prayer flags against majestic, awe-inspiring snow-capped mountain is visual poetry! Thank you so much for not contaminating the beauty and sacredness of the himalayan mountains with incessant meaningless dialogues nor using using some YOLO style music so favoured by countless travel bloggers.
Thanks for your kind words and for watching 😊
This was so amazing and calming. I laughed at how jealous I was when you were having milk tea on the frozen lake. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful trip. Look forward to seeing more!
Thank you so much 💛🙏 The milk tea on the lake was definitely a highlight of the trip haha. See you next time 😊
Beautiful filming and music, so calming to watch. Very professional job. I really love how you let the landscapes tell their story, with barely any voiceover. Kudos to you, and thank you so much for not using those headache-inducing jerky handicams that so many others use in their travel videos. :)

Thank you Nicholas for this beautiful movie! 🙏 You have inspired me to go to Nepal. 🙏
Thank you so much 💛🙏 Where in Nepal do you want to go?
@@NicholasEager I loved the trekking you had done. I have never been to Nepal. I would like to do some kind of pilgrimage. I practice Buddhist meditation, Bön, and Buddhist ones.
Manaslu Circuit with Tsum Valley is a good one then! There is a circular route called the "Kyimolung Pilgrimage" that crosses through Tsum and Nubri valleys, and into Tibet. You can't do the entire loop unless you have permission to enter Tibet (and a Chinese visa). But if you do the Tsum + Manaslu circuit you will be able to do nearly half of it and see many Tibetan Buddhist sites. What do you think?
Feel free to send me an email if you'd like more details 😊

Appreciated the silence, how you blended people, critters, scenery, bridge, meals and accom ... those last three are well above those I experienced when I trekked Annapurna and Everest base camp before you were born. In April of 2015, I was booked to go from Qingdao, China to Kathmandu, Nepal. I had already rented a motorcycle, in advance, because scooters and motorcycles are not easily rented after you arrive. Wham bang, the 7.1 Nepal earthquake struck and there was no airport in Nepal. I called China Eastern and they suggested I trade my ticket for. a different destination. Of the choices, Taiwan proved to have the best connections. I enjoyed Taiwan but wish I could visit Nepal. I'm 73 in September and I may not make it back to Nepal. Win a few, lose a few, and a few get rained out. Satchel Paige.
