      You show in your video which oil to put into steering(ATF OIL),and,in the first comment line you recommend another type - CHF 11S . Why is that? I have common problems with CHF 11 S and i want to try ATF version. This thread confuses me allot.
      My conclusion is: In the workshop programs the only liquid for steering is CHF 11 S .At Servo steering cap it write: ,,ATF OIL ONLY,, .So which type is correct for optimum condition?Thank you

      not true. from 2000 bmw and mini, went to CHF11S. cheap one is FEBI, green bottle. Very happy, cause synthetic, and more stable viscocity during warmup temp changes. I lost all problems. pentosin is even better. go with GREEN.doesn't pressure steering to make a leak.

      Hey Nathan, Good Video, I Had My Water pump, Steering Belts and Hosing replaced this past Christmas, now my steering is tight and turns weird, I feel the mechanics are giving me the run around, I spent $3500 getting all these things fixed, now they want to charge me again for diagnostic and said it might be my steering pump that needs replace, looking at your video I think they're trying to make a bigger fix to get me to spend money, is there anyway I can check to make sure I don't have a steering pump replacement issue

    I had the CHF 11S PSF at home, which is the synthetic version, so I used that.

    • @veryslyfox
      @veryslyfox Před 2 lety +1

      CHF202 and 11S are oil-based, so baby oil could be an emergency solution, but it's not good long-term because it has no anti-wear additives. Your pump is slowly degrading. Also, in cold weather it's much thicker than 202 & 11S. If you're too cheap to buy the real stuff, at least use racing oil (0w10 or 0w synthetic). It's very similar to CHF202. They have identical viscosity and similar additives.

Fuel filter changed at 50k, pollen filter changed every 15k, it's had the Forte engine flush and diesel fuel system treatment just done at 91k miles. I bought the car with full service history 19 months ago with 41k on the clock, so I've gone 50k miles since, South of France twice, Belgium and Amsterdam.

    Some of these use ATF but if it is not that get CHF-11S. You will know if CHF-11S is in there because it is green. CHF-202 is compatible with CHF-11S and is less expensive sometimes. I have heard that there is a green sticker on the ones that are supposed to use CHF-11S.

    Today my stepmoms 02' 330i apparently was in motion with very hard right turns then smoke started coming from right side under the hood. Pulled over and towed home. Upon inspection the PS resorvoir was empty, then while cleaning up the mess found several slits at the 90° bend on the bottom resorvoir return hose.
    *What other type of damage could have been to the power steering system at this point?
    *I would like to purchase all replacement parts and fluids at once but not sure if ill need more than the new hoses and new resorvoir.

    There was not any sign of power steering fluid anywhere other than it was supposed to be so I'm not thinking I have a leak but it was still low. I did everything you said but I still have rather sorry steering. I still have power steering but it just seems too tight to me. Am I expecting too much from an old (2001) car? Maybe it is because I go from my newer Toyota from this and I'm expecting too much?

      need to replace power steering reservoir and lines every 10-15 years. Mybe even sooner if they are hard and dry.
      Depends on climate where u live, rubber will dry out in hot climate much sooner than in normal climate.
