Hi, Street Justice, thank you for your comment and support. The video is introduced the sections in the routine of Weng Chun Din - 11 Kuen (Fist), in which explain why we need to learn it and how to understand the arrangement, the purpose of every movements in the routine.
Weng Chun Din - 11 Fist (pronounced “Sap Yat Kuen ” which mean there have eleven sections of skills) the 1st and the 2nd Kuen
The Sap Yat Kuen is the basic routine of Southern Shaolin Weng Chun Din using bare hands. As named, there are eleven boxing skills which demand tremendously on our core training. Stillness1 and six body power positions2 are the key foundation of the Sap Yat Kuen . It also pay much attention on defence and basic techniques.
The wise proverb says: “Learn stances first before boxing”. It is the way to achieve the power from the earth in order to move like rabbit freely but attack as fierce tiger; quick and accurate, agile and orderly. Therefore the 1st to the 4th sequences are proceeding through stance with stillness while practising hands and body structure. Importantly, this routine enhance the power of lower body all the way to the bottom. The style of Southern Shaolin boxing can contribute greatly to our physical health by concentrating our focus on coordination of muscle and joint. Harmonise our body and mind connecting our spirit.
Since the 1st to the 4th sequences are practising on a fixed place, it facilitates learners better understand the concept of defence and attack. The correct positioning and coordination of hands and elbows. Meanwhile it makes the way to activate impulsive force effectively and the basic techniques of combat.
This video demonstrates the Sap Yat Quan the defence and attack styles and how it can overwhelm the enemies quickly. Last but not least, we can learn the basic concept of short and quick striking, stable defence and sudden attack method when facing enemies.
Note 1: three structures are - attack, retreat and stillness.
Note 2: power from head to toe - our head, elbow, wrist, hip joint, knee & feet. The overall key power means, to gather all those six body power positions to produce the best energy on practices.
