The Harpy Eagle nests at least 90 feet up in trees, NOT on the ground under a porch. If you are going to tell a story, please have the decency to be upfront that it is not real.
Harpy Eagles are beautiful majestic creatures and very strong. Very few people handle them and all of them treat them with the utmost respect. Nice little story but not true in my book.
with all due respect, for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that having spent many years studying, raising, observing, and training raptors of a host of species, I am EXTREMELY sceptical of this story. I would very much like to know where this incident is supposed to have occurred, like on WHAT continent to start with, as it would not be from an english speaking locale... Secondly, Harpies are in most cases NOT friendly to humans and do their utmost to avoid them if at all possible. Also, this is the first I've heard of any supposedly enhanced intelligence. They are modern dinosaurs and have very little in common with humans. Many Eagles, including the 20-30 lb "Berkut" (a type of Asian Golden Eagle) have been raised, and trained by special handlers in Mongolia for over a thousand years, and at least when I was there, only a few bore the scars from an angry eagle. All eagles are extremely powerful, and possess truly fear inspiring weapons. and it would be a brave woman indeed who simply sauntered up and stroked the feathers of a mother harpy already under stress in concern for her injured offspring. The resultant wounds would be horrific. For anyone not old enough to have seen or remembered Marlin Perkins' "Mutual of Omaha's WILD KINGDOM" program, Perkins had an associate on that show, I believe it was Jim Fowler, who decided he wanted to train I think a Marshall Eagle. I and a number of others advised against it, several of us even co-signed a letter cautioning about the danger.. Well, needless to say, the man suffered serious wounds experiencing severe lacerations to his arm, face and eyes, and this was from his own eagle, much less a wild one... In any event, as I said I'm extremely doubtful of the validity of this story. The timeline and circumstances of the discovery of the chick, the examination by the vet, and the remarkable coincidental and contemporaneous appearance of the bird "expert", just stretches my credulity beyond the breaking point. One thing I AM curious about is the id of the extinct eagle with which the Harpy was first confused.
i have worked with raptors during high school at the local zoo... yes, I agree... this story is ... "off", imo... how would the mother raptor carry the baby anyways? i can understand mammal mothers... but birds of prey? idk... i've noticed a number of internet videos have these kind of "something sounds off" stories... plus, they use photos/videos completely unrelated to the stories... i like geobeats videos, though.. lol
Nedoporučoval bych nikomu, brát tyto ptáky do holých rukou...zasluhují velký respekt...
Yap, Yap, Yap, Yap. Full of BS. How would that egles nest get underneath the siding/porch of a house? CZcams has become inundated with blah, blah stories, pulling in the gullible as click bait. It's just a scam.
It is really annoying that you do not just tell us what species the bird is, *especially* when you are willing to show several pictures of it. Stop playing coy and just give us the information.
The "expert" is clearly an actress. This whole episode is very likely to be a fake. If real, it would have been reported in e.g., Science magazine, and I would have seen it.
Harpy Eagles are found in Central & South America. Someone could have smuggled some in or it escaped from a zoo. Some species of birds can pick up their babies that have fallen out of the nest
This story is not likely, though. You depicted the egg was laid and hatched under the porch. So the mother in that case couldn’t have brought her baby to humans. And birds don’t do that anyhow. If the baby is injured it often gets tossed out of the nest. Harpy eagles are very big birds. They don’t have predators so are not too afraid of humans. And a really hungry chick might take food from anything. If these birds nest so high in s tree, I doubt the baby could fall out and survive. I think maybe this is a captive eaglet being rehabilitated, or from a captive pair. Would have been nice to know what “extinct bird” they “thought” it was. Cute photos and videos but this is not possible. Nobody would hear a tiny bird over a lawnmower, anyway. And why would the mother eagle walk from the man’s garden into the woods? She’s going to fly; she’s less vulnerable in the air. The real story would be better!
Harpy Eagle? Guessed before the reveal,, but these are common in So. America, no? It's claimed they have such a strong grip they can crush a person's wrist.
I believe you are right. Harpy Eagles are from South and lower Central America. We assume or are somewhat led to believe this happened in the lower 48 states. Pure Fiction. By the way, they can easily kill a human. There is a bit of a disclaimer at the beginning of the video.
I thought it was a great story, I enjoyed it. I have never raised raptors on any continent, nor am I experienced in breeding them or knowing their habits. What I do know is, this content creator told us a story that was captivating. Does it have to be a true story? Can it not be fiction? This is YT y'all! Appreciate the time someone took to entertain you for a bit and stop picking stuff apart. Good grief!! Thank You Americans Channel for entertaining me with your narration! I don't need to see your qualifications on bird story telling. 🙄🙄
Nice story, but guessed that it was an Eagle, as probably many others did........Left it for humans.....,please.....,,,lots of leg pulling here😮😮😮😮😮😅😅😅😅😅

And the mother bird flew the baby up to the trees in the end. This belongs as a children’s story. 😊
This is a Harpy Eagle found in Central & South America

Thanks for sharing. At least we got yo see the baby Eagle up close. Janice😢
What a load crap, Harpy eagles build a very large nest high in tree canopy, not a tiny nest under a porch.
It is really annoying that you do not just tell us what species the bird is, *especially* when you are willing to show several pictures of it. Stop playing coy and just give us the information.
If you listened, you would have heard that the bird was a Harpy Eagle. Stop rabbitting on and listen !
Did you watch the video? She clearly identifies the harpy eagle. You should delete your comment.
It's a harpy eagle.
I agree
Do what I do when they talk too much. Fast forward toward the end, or read the comments.

I just can’t believe that 242K people subscribe to this channel based on this type of presentation.
Thank you very much for sharing. I hope that this Harpy Eagle family makes a go of life in their new surroundings.
Harpy Eagle? Guessed before the reveal,, but these are common in So. America, no? It's claimed they have such a strong grip they can crush a person's wrist.
What species of bird is it?😮
If he had left the nest alone, the mother would have come back.
Pretty story. :}
I've noticed Russian sites will tell these stories to see how we respond. It pulls the heart strings, but gives very little information
I watch a lot of wildlife documentaries. I knew right away it was an eagle.
Still needs a father to fertilize thé egg so they would bé 3.
Pure FICTION.

Love how you put human type feelings on wild animals......yeah sure
TOO MUCH SUPERFLUOUS DETAIL………WOW. This story could have been told in 5 minutes. 😊
Nice fantasy story, but definitely not a true one.
Actually the drama intro was definitely misplaced.
huge massive LIE
A whole load here ! The father swooped in and carried the baby away? Hummm!!!!

Nice story, but guessed that it was an Eagle, as probably many others did........Left it for humans.....,please.....,,,lots of leg pulling here😮😮😮😮😮😅😅😅😅😅
Way too much fluff. I'm out.
Why are the words dancing on the screen. Terrible choice. Great story?
This is exactly how you DON'T want to make a video.
Terrible quality in every way.
