Arrogance when you win, tears when you lose, that's the basis of south american football. It comes from how passionate we are over here in general, but mostly with football. Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay have been by far the most successful national teams in South America being the only ones to win the world cup, all at least twice, and having won the copa america the most times. No one shies away from a little condescending attitude here when it comes to football, like Colombian players dancing after a goal, Brazil's president saying they'll win 5-0 ahead of the final. It's part of football's folklore and it's what keeps it alive imo
Beating Brazil in their homes holy ground in a Major Tournament... that was some job by Argentina. It might not erase the pain of the past but I bet there are still Argentinians hungover from that game who feel like its all been worth it in the end.
7 major tournament finals .....7 finals , enough to judge how great their team was , just their final touch wasn't enough , a bit of bad luck , a bit of players errors at the wrong moment but i've never doubted this years team they were the best in form , every segment of their team from defense to goalkeeping , mid field and their attacks all went to full aggressive mode , they were focused committed and had winning mindset , and on top of that they had leo messi , fought tooth and nail to get argentina this victory
I really don't understand how everyone was judging Argentina for not winning ''anything'' (Because Argentina won Olympic gold in 2008 with Messi, Agüero, Di Maria) while you have countries with a world cup that have won absolutely nothing for over 50 years, the pressure for Argentina was unreal, while like i said, you have countries that have been chilling with a 50 years mark without trophies and no one seems to care enough to judge them.
That's the pressure to have a genius player like Lionel Messi be in your national team. Luckily he already won everything and has nothing else to prove 🐐 🇦🇷 🌟
I started to notice something special was happening in this Argentina team when they played against Bolivia for WC qualifying in 2020. It was a hard away match and Argentina won 1-2. They played with their heart and they looked united than ever.
As an Argentine, I can tell you the key is Scaloni, he managed to give the national team back it's mystique and unity. Riquelme said in an interview "this squad is the first in a long time that plays as a team and not just as a national squad"
Two things that should be considered here. 7 finals for a team is a major achievement, which is often not taken into account. In itself reaching the finals for a nations team is already a victory, but in these cases it is not counted as such. To belittle a gold medal is an insult to sport in general. It does have special rules regarding the players but it is still an Olympic gold medal.
I understand where you are coming from, but everything has to be put into context. What you say is true for most countries. But Argentina, like Germany, Brazil etc is an elite country. To not win is a dissapointment- does not matter if they simply reached the final. And as for the Olympics, that must also be put into context. I did state that my intention was not to belittle the trophy. But the level of competition in a World Cup, Euros or Copa America is many levels above what you'll find in the Olympics. While this is a fantastic achievement, put into context, several Argentines remained dissatisfied.
@@FootballIconic Fair enough, but still 7 finals shouldn't be seen as a "failure" just because all were lost but rather an achievement by playing them. And even more so if you take into account the multiple socio-economic differences of the countries you are comparing.
Only if Aguero was the 1st choice striker in the finals Messi has been, he would have won everything. And Di Maria, he is the unsung hero of the Argentine team. Aguero, Di Maria and Messi has been playing together and won the U-20 World Cup, The Olympics. Messi did everything when he was needed but players like Higuian, Palacios had that opportunity to perform and win for Messi and Argentina, and they failed. Messi is not to blame, he is a true captain and leader who does his job i the pitch. People who criticize Messi doesn't, I think knows how much he wants to win for Argentina. Messi is the GOAT of the GOAT for me.
Doesnt really count when there was no audience and most brazilian people was against the cup being here. Basically it was the same as a neutral ground, the discontent was big and not many people cared that we lost
Lionel Scaloni's team has several players from the 2006 Pekerman's team. Though we didn't reach the semifinals Argentina did a great World Cup and measured toe to toe with Germany itself (reminder, they were the locals)
Short time ago I sat down and watched hours and hours and hours with Messi playing. Driblings, passes, goals, close fighting and so on. Before watching I believed Messi was equal to the new Ronaldo. After watching? To be honest Messi is miles ahead. Ronaldo is a great player. A better version of Gerd Muller but he is not even close to Messi.
That's what I keep telling people. Messi haters need to stop listening to what people say about him and watch him play instead. I reckon most of his haters only watch English league, they only see him when he plays against English clubs in champions league. U can't appreciate a champion when you don't witness his struggle
Good catch Klaus ... most of the time I do not understand why people compare Messi to Ronaldo. There is not comparison. Messi should be compared to Maradona, Pele, DI Stefano or Johan Cruyff. CR7 is not even closed to those players. I am argentine but I stick to the common sense in order to be objective and not subjective and it is easy to see the huge difference.
Tactical aside, the Argentine players showed more hunger than determination than the other teams including Brazil. Even when Neymar get pass 2-3 players there will be another 2 players stopping him. This was what Chile did in 2015 & 2016 finals and Argentina at the time relying too much on Messi that they didnt have plan B. Even when Messi was surrounded by 4 players, they still passed to him all the time.
Respect to those that came to this channel before me. But it's gonna blow up for sure, awesome work man. I cried when Argentina won as I was watching their broadcast and it got so emotional. Messi has been my favorite for years, the lost finals have always left me feeling so sad, and I'm not even an Argentine.
Yea the feels of me watching Messi win his desired trophy after all the frustration he had to endure with our National team was incredible, I even had to drink 2 beers to survive the nerves of the match and when it ended I couldnt stop myself from crying like a litle kid I wanted Messi to win more than Argentina winning . The fans in Argentina would take it so hard on him and hate him compare him with Maradona when he has already proven he's on another level. In the end Justice was made and he got a major Trophy for Argentina. It took a lot of pain and suffering but he earned it. Football is a little bit more Fair now that he won
The beauty of this vídeo is absolutly amazing!!! Congrats man! I'm argentinian football lover, the last words about Messi... That was incredible breathtaking! Viva Argentina y Perón carajo!!
Argentina did not have to wait soooo long for a medal. I still recall how Redondo got dropped from the 1998wc squad because he had long hair Then in the 2006wc Pekerman ignored Messi and somehow stuck with Tevez Then Higuain came in and the coaches stuck with him even though he was average at best. The upcoming worldcup will be awsome... there are sooo many good teams both in Europe and South America.
Man, i love the way you talk and simply things, and especially make it so clear that its just your opinion, and youre allowed to share your opinion, as well as the others with respect. Big big up! This video was well made, and yeah i agree, messi for me as well is the GOAT. 🐐
Well... I'm late to this but something to give props to Escaloni is that he took out the pressure from this Argentina side by mentioning before Copa america 2019 that they are not the favorites to win the tournament, at that tournament if they happen to win Brazil in the semis then they could've got another copa
Hey how about a video on Italy's rise too? From not making it to World Cup 2018 to winning the Euro 2020 and it makes me sad that Diego Maradona isn't alive to see this. Also the top 5 of all time are Pele, Maradona, Messi, CR7 and Cruyff .
Muy buenooo! My due respects, first time I hear such an objective and well-balanced analysis of Argentina's football and its whole background. No one would say Messi is no longer Barça player! Saludos amigo.
I never liked football that much. I never watched any leagues, cups or anything besides when the national team played. And even then, I never felt anything special during those matches. But this Copa America, it was the first time I truly enjoyed watching football, and seeing my country's national team win this cup, Seeing Messi crying tears of joy this time, really moved me, and I really cried too when the match finished. I wen't outside with my girlfriend to celebrate, we got on my car and drove around, screaming and honking, and seeing the happyness and joy all around us, everybody celebrating. It was a truly beautiful moment.
Really nice video!!, just to add to the first point about the arrogance of the argentinian team, it is at least curious that they managed to win when they were seen as the underdogs (there were a lot of doubts about Scaloni as a manager before and during the Copa America, and the brazilian team was seen as invincible, even with Fenandinho posting in his instagram: "WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOME RIVALRY IN SOUTH AMERICA"), even here in Chile, the general sentiment was to support Argentina to win... With that said, cool vid!, if possible, I would love to see something like this for the Chilean team from 2015-2016... Thank you!, i subscribed :)
Remember me. I've been following u since your 5ks. I love the way you mix the jokes and facts. This channel certainly deserves to be the GOAT of football channels someday.
Gotta say Argentina did win the king fahd cup 1992 vs saudi arabia (the first ever confederations cup) and the Artemio Franchi cup (match between champion of europe vs champion of south america) vs Denmark 1993, both official tournaments by FIFA. This lead to the "arrogance" since between 1986 and 1993 Argentina played 6 final matches, winning 5 of them. Denmark got his revenge at the confederations cup final 1995, that was another blow to the team.
In Brazil if we win the Copa America, it's business as usual. When Argentina wins it, they riot, lol Well deserved, the Seleção isn't what it used to be, Neymar is a crybaby and Messi is the best player in the world. Congratulations hermanos.
This team has something that no other Argentina NT had since 1993, commitment. They all played hard, they all ran all game all games, they all helped each other AND they all helped Messi, so it didn't seemed that they just gave the ball to him and expect he does all the work, as we've seen in the recent past where it was Lio running against 5 defenders with his teammates always behind him 'cause either they didn't understand him or they couldn't keep up with him, the complete opossite that we see at Barça. Cheers from Argentina.
They can win it if messi gets his 2019 form back and has a 50+ goal season also they need to use messi in the attack and play with 3 forwards instead of using him as a distraction.
@@IsmailKhan-dp9vt i dont think his form decreased compared to then, perhaps a little but his numbers are low because of the horrendous team we had compared to Valverde's team. That and Messi at the start of the season was having a horrible relationship with barcelona so that must have made quite an impact with his form for the first few months of the season. He started regaining his form when the young prospective players like Ansu Fati and Pedri stepped up, he probably saw a light of a bright future with this team and he started smiling again. After then you can see his form by looking the stats at the start of 2021, his goalscoring record is tied with Lewandowski at about 40 something with around 14 assists, that is ridiculous. He could end up with 70 goals by the end of this year, plus he just won the copa which eased him so much we might see his best form out of the recent years.
@@gabrielnugrahaandika4807 the thing is messi used to dribble players but he hasn't been able to do it that much after the Liverpool loss mabye he lost hope or his confidence was shattered.
@@IsmailKhan-dp9vt he cant do that anymore, its not a confidence thing he is getting older. As sad as it is we wont see those mazing runs anymore. But he doesnt need to do that, his effectiveness and footballing iq alone will still get him the top scorer and playmaker. The other thing that makes him the best is that while his physics is waning, his other attributes steps up, if he cant be the best goalscorer, he'll become the best playmaker. He would still be the best in 2-3 years and he will still be world class until he's 40. The only thing that could stop him is probably a serious injury or something.
I'd argue to just seem them both as the goat in respect to what they do. They're both insanely skilled players and I feel that we should respect both of them for different reason. I'm very grateful to have grown up seeing both of them play, and I'm sure future generations will be jealous watching the footage of them.

The video has aged well now that Argentina have won the World Cup using similar if not the same tactics. Kudos!

Is it just me here who watching when argentina won the world cup?
Who’s watching this after Argentina won the World Cup 🎉
In the same time period 1993 to 2021- Brazil reach 13 major finals and won 11 of them.. Brazil always bigger than Argentina
Big example England 😁
Who lost another final against Italy in Euro's
That's the pressure to have a genius player like Lionel Messi be in your national team. Luckily he already won everything and has nothing else to prove 🐐 🇦🇷 🌟
How they won?
All Argentine players played 150%, messi played 200%...
Why you sleeping on di maria?
@@pomegranates3269 Fideo would be one of the players who gave 150%. I think his comment was pretty clear.
This kind of quality deserves more recognition been watching for a while now and i hope you get a breakthrough
My man!
I started to notice something special was happening in this Argentina team when they played against Bolivia for WC qualifying in 2020. It was a hard away match and Argentina won 1-2. They played with their heart and they looked united than ever.
I cried so much when we finally won. I was at the game when we lost to Chile in 2016 and it hurt so bad. It felt so good to win. Thank you God!
As an Argentine, I can tell you the key is Scaloni, he managed to give the national team back it's mystique and unity. Riquelme said in an interview "this squad is the first in a long time that plays as a team and not just as a national squad"
And now they won the WC deservedly!
Aguero was always a liability in the NT. There was a reason why he's rarely been chosen
Agüero has his good moment in the NT, but this cup was not one of them. Except for the final, Lautaro Martínez was vastly superior.
HIGUAIN TOOK ARGENTINA TO THE FINAL
Higuian wasn’t playing that bad before the final. People literally call him a curse for Argentina
Winning in the manacana was just incredible, you could not write a better script
But in an empty stadium...

lol that’s a funny way to think about him. He won even when he was unemployed 😭
Ever heard of Maradona or Prime ronaldinho. It’s football porn
@@benperez8291 lol
exacto
Good catch Klaus ... most of the time I do not understand why people compare Messi to Ronaldo. There is not comparison. Messi should be compared to Maradona, Pele, DI Stefano or Johan Cruyff. CR7 is not even closed to those players. I am argentine but I stick to the common sense in order to be objective and not subjective and it is easy to see the huge difference.
No man deserve it more than Messi. Congrats Messi 👏👏👏👏
it's been almost 3 weeks and I still cry when I see Messi holding the Copa America. God I love this man. Vamos Argentina Carajo!
It took 4 tournaments in 7 years to finally give messi an international trophy, god the south americans love Messi XD XD
This was made with respect, apretiation and love. Thank you for this, you've got a new sub in me

I really appreciate the work you put on them
Respect to those that came to this channel before me.
I still recall how Redondo got dropped from the 1998wc squad because he had long hair
Then in the 2006wc Pekerman ignored Messi and somehow stuck with Tevez
Then Higuain came in and the coaches stuck with him even though he was average at best.
The upcoming worldcup will be awsome... there are sooo many good teams both in Europe and South America.
It wasnt the coaches that stuck to him, it was the players
Copa America? Thats not relevant

After 1 year, there is no debate about GOAT....
Hey how about a video on Italy's rise too? From not making it to World Cup 2018 to winning the Euro 2020 and it makes me sad that Diego Maradona isn't alive to see this. Also the top 5 of all time are Pele, Maradona, Messi, CR7 and Cruyff .
Italy also didn't make it out of the group stage in the 2014 and 2010 world cups. Consistent years of humiliation and defeat
@@adriangonzalez7666 2012 euro final tho

Hope that one day you’ll do a video about great talents that never reached their potential: Anelka, Quaresma, Cassano, etc.
Your video popped up as a random recommendation. It's really nice. Thanks.

Dude your analysis is awesome.
How the hell is winning considered arrogance?
In Brazil if we win the Copa America, it's business as usual.
When Argentina wins it, they riot, lol
Well deserved, the Seleção isn't what it used to be, Neymar is a crybaby and Messi is the best player in the world.
Congratulations hermanos.
Greatest football rivalry on this planet, but we love brazil and brazil football history.
Nice informative efforts.Well done.
I really Enjoy your videos bro, very entertaining stuff. Much love and appreciation !
Without Mascherano it's almost impossible that argentina will reach another Wc cup final with this team!
Can you make a Leicester 2016 title run video btw love ur vids

I'd argue to just seem them both as the goat in respect to what they do. They're both insanely skilled players and I feel that we should respect both of them for different reason.
