Thanks for sharing.. These rigs are long past due and I'm glad more are being made for our disabled American family..
I couldnt agree more!!! I am really excited about this line.
Hats off to Winnebago
As one ages it is nice to see there are still options
Cheers guys and thanks for this video I will be sharing it!
That is awesome.... what a way to have the needs met for all the people with disabilities that wish to travel.... Whoot whoot to Winnebago!
I agree completely!! It is very exciting for this population!
Thanks for the great review. A lot more folks will be able hit the road and enjoy what this country has to offer. 👍
I hope so. I was very excited about more people having the opportunity to full time....if you couldnt tell. RV walk throughs are not our strong point but I thought this one was important.
Very nice. Glad to see this segment of the human population getting attention from the builders. Thank you.
As always your video and preview of this accessibility RV was great. Thanks for the look @ what they offer.
Thanks so much. I hope it allows more people to join us on the road.
Newmar Canyon Star 3911 is a better option in my opinion based on quality and price. The Winnebago Adventurer is around $229k MSRP while the Canyon Star starts at $188k MSRP. Canyon Star has a much larger chassis, higher quality materials, and customer service is top notch.
Phil and Stacy- thank you for taking the time to bring attention to this rig. It shows you aren't only focused on sharing your journey or things that help you but also others. I am sure there are people out there that have no idea this is even an option. I hope many of your subscribers will share the video all over social media. Knowledge is empowering! Safe travels.
Thanks so much Lori! We hope this will help so many people.
Love it. My deceased wife (cancer) could have used these wonderful tools.
Thank you for sure we know all of people that will benefit from this video
I hope so!
Way to go Winnebago! Opens up so many options for people to get out on the road
As Phil said OUTSTANDING!! Great video!! SAFE TRAVELS
The most fascinating thing I saw just now was how tall Jennifer was and I was short you were. No judgments just an observation. And then when we were at the side of the bus everybody was the same height. Nice trick photography. Tons of smiles thank you...
I do not need wheelchair accessibility but I am so pleased that they are making it for the world because there are plenty of people out there men and women that are in need of that kind of assistance. Thank you Winnebago you make a nice product
Very clever curb work in the end! lol
Awesome video...👍👍
Some cool ideas!
Thanks, a big thumbs up to you guys for this review! HOOYAH!
You are so welcome! I really hope it can help someone!
Thank you for this information
I just asked y'all about handicap RVing and then found this. Thanks for the info.
This is an awesome rig!
It really was cool.
A thumbs down? Really? The video hasn’t even been up long enough for you to watch the whole thing yet! SMH. Seriously, though, very good video. I need to tell my little sister, she’s in a wheelchair. I really wanted to get to Hershey to meet you, just couldn’t make it happen. Thanks, and take care.
Thank you for that! As a nurse practitioner I understand how important this line will be for this community. There is such a huge need! Newmar was the only manufacturer that had a model in which a ramp was not a specialty order and it is so expensive! Even though these models are still costly they are at least half of Newmar. And just wait until they are used!! I am excited about this line....if you couldnt tell.
Thanks for sharing BEAUTIFUL
Thanks for the tour, shared on Facebook. Some friends who can benefit from one of these beautiful rigs.
Thanks so much. I really hope it open more doors for those in need of accessibility!
Shouldn't the micro/convection be below the stove? I don't see how a wheelchair-bound individual could reach it.
(What am I missing?)
I do love the consideration of Winnebago in offering models for accessibility-challenged RV'ers.
I guess maybe the wheelchair RV'er might have a companion who could reach the micro/convection. (Just because I'm alone doesn't mean everyone else is!)
You are right. They do come below the stove as an option. I think since they are not fully accessible (meaning not driving accessible) they assume someone will be with them. There are quite few things that I am sure will be changed over the next few years as more people purchase and use them. Usually, there is a disconnect because the designers/manufacturers dont always RV or aren't in need of accessibility. Thankfully, though it is a great start outside the $400k price range.
As a recent amputee I was afraid our dreams of retiring in a class B+ were over. Hoping that Leisure Travel Vans is also looking into wheelchair accessible RV's. Have my trusted prosthesis, but there are always times....... Thank you so much for showing us this and for all you do. Love watching your videos.
I hope they are paying attention!! Thanks so much for checking it out. I hope you are doing well.
While I don't need an accessibility model I love the room available with the slides in.
Me too! It is really cool.
This was very informative 👍
Thanks.
This is great
Very nice!!!!
Agreed!
OMG!! I did not know accessible coaches existed this is like knocking down one of the fences that has been restricting life for us! Oh my gosh!!
Out freaking standing
The main thing that all of these accessible campers are missing is an integrated track lift over the bed.
Don't like the fact that the microwave/convection oven is high. How does a confined wheelchair person access that? Most of the time they have other people with them, but.....
@@laurad7439 I for sure could reach it but I was 6'1 standing. I sit pretty high on my chair. Like I can still reach the cabinets in my apartment. This does limit smaller people to needing someone with them though. You're right
I was going to say this too. No room for a manual lift.
I love that they're tapping the physically challenged market. There are those out there who've been active all their lives who one day find themselves in a wheelchair (as well as those who've been in a chair for years if not all of their lives) who might well want to get out and travel. This makes that possible in an easier fashion. I know the manufacturers wouldn't do it if there wasn't a profit in it for them; I'm just glad that somebody IS doing it. Safe travels, y'all! -M (Good video, btw. I always enjoy y'all's videos though)
We agree completely!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh oooooooo Mi goodness!!
Those of us in wheelchairs.. love all the cabinet space on the tops of the walls.. smh OR the microwave so hight up .. we can't reach it / Because I definitely won't be sticking my face or arms across the gas stove..... :)
Excellent video!, now, with a little AF humor, I thought " Stacey, wear high heels but then at the end outside you were almost as tall as jennifer And Phil! Hmmm.
You guys cover everything and do an awesome job!! 👍
She made me look 3 feet tall, right!! lol
Received our t-shirts this weekend. Sorry we missed saying hello at Hershey. We were not able to go until Thursday.
Sweet! Thank you so much for the support.
I was getting all ready to give you guys a hard time because you weren't at the Gas Stop booth on Thursday, but then I looked back at your video and it was the 11th, Wednesday when you were going to be there, not the 12th when I was there. I know you came in sometime on the 12th too but I was out enjoying the show. Maybe another time. Yes the coach is neat, I didn't go in it but I did see it across the street from the Gas Stop booth. Pretty cool of Winnebago to make them standard models.
Sorry, we were unable to meet up but the show is so huge!! Its like finding a needle in a haystack!
a big thank you for thinking of us (disabled) it's fantastic !!! a pity that we are not this type of vehicle in Europe. Americans are the best when it comes to disabled access. The United States is amazing about it
The accessory one really needs with these rigs is a Phil. He may not always know how to handle an issue but he tears into it and fixes whatever.
Hahahahaha! Phil said to tell you he is a one RV man! lol
I love the support built in the shower for supports. Do you know if the ceiling above the bed for bed supports
They did not mention if the ceiling was reinforced. Sorry.
Am aware that rigs will improve as folks utilize them. Until now accessibility has only been a dream or a rare occasion of a buildout someone did for themselves. As rigs become more accessible the valuable input that people who use them give to the manufacturers and RV design teams will completely make a real difference for travelers on wheels. ( wheelchairs ) Make your voice count, don't just find fault with how things are now. look to the future to make it better. I am so thankful that Winnebago is taking the lead.
I completely agree! This is a great step with hopefully more to come.
But like everything else they make it completely unaffordable to most of the disabled people on social security. They ultimately are removing things but charging more. And they should have asked more handicap people what is actually needed besides the damn lift into it.
That roll in shower is a mess waiting to happen. As you show it that flat floor and single flap seal won't last long, and water is never a friend of an RV floor.
Stacie, you should have worn some high heels, although standing on that curb worked.
Saw one with a lattice floor over a shallow pan, instead of one drain outlet.
Did they not measure chairs before deciding on the width of the shower. And um where are the chair tie downs. Or putting oxygen ports built in. You cant just guess and assume
A true wheelchair accessible motorhome needs to be everything in the middle within reach. Microwave is too high, cabinets too high, oven door needs to open sideways, not downways.
Sink needs an empty spot underneath for wheelchairs to pull into underneath for the legs to make it easier to wash dishes. Shower needs a built in center seat in the middle, don't wanna fry electric wheelchairs or rust out a manual wheelchair while showering, now do we?
Ramp looks great, need side rails so we don't easily tip over sideways by accident while the ramp lurches up and down.
Need a platform area to strap down wheelchairs and or scooters (maybe room enough for both), so they tied down good in case the mobile home makes a sudden brake that won't cause them to slide across the floor or worse, fly across the room and crush/kill someone.
Just my two cents.
This great so many veterans will be able to come on the road
While standing there as I watched Phil and Stacy talk with the young man in the video, that was exactly what he was excited about but not only for himself. He was excited for his family because until now, traveling the country in an RV seemed undoable for them.
Exactly!! I am so excited about this new line.
I like that RV industry is now starting to make these type of RV’s. Just a thought, both the driver and passenger sections should be possibly be made accessible too on models. I wouldn’t think it would be hard for the passenger front side to have that option. The driver side would require lots but I would think it’s doable. 😃
Not impossible! The passengers seat does turn all the way around so people can transfer to that seat during travel but the drivers side would need a bit more work.
I am wondering if you can get a bathtub instead of the rolling shower installed in your r v
Some RV's have bath tubs.
Do they come in like 25 or 26 foot
When on the highway, how do you plan on securing a power wheelchair with someone in it. Also, you might want to check the 30 inch clearance. Most power chairs need a few inches more. There needs to be more clearance on both sides of the bed. Most people in power chairs load from once side. Like the roll under vanity.
They are designed to have the wheelchair person sitting in/on one of the seats or couch that has seatbelts. We are just glad that the industry is making them accessible for all.
I agree 30 inches is way too narrow. My husbands chair would never fit. It would need at least 4 more. Inches to not tear up the walls.
Wow! That was great. I like the room it has, which is a plus. However, for the price, extremely more design should've went into the flat floor shower; a disaster waiting to happen.
When you think about the price consider the fact that accessible vans start around $75k. The benefit is making them standard brings down the price tremendously. They are not longer a special order. Hopefully, as more companies join the bandwagon the price will continue to do down a bit.
I'm looking for an accessible RV (with hand controls) for me (disabled veteran - in a wheelchair) and my 5 Akitas!??
Newmar has offered a couple handicap accessible for several years. A friend in a wheelchair told me he liked the Newmar interiors better but liked the Winnebago's lift better. Either way, the industry is making more available without special ordering one.
You are right about that but the Newmar price it way to high for many who need the lift. Winnebago's line will cut the price significantly allowing more to enjoy the freedom of the road.
You get what you pay for in quality difference to me.
That may be true but not everyone can afford that price point even if they wanted too. This will allow a large group of people to join the RVing community that were priced out if it with the Newmars. I think accessible options at every price point are important.
The microwave should be below the stove. And the refrigerator should be lower.
where do I find a rental company ? I need transport a disabled mom 3 states. looking to rent for a 2 week period.
DO a search for RV rentals in your area would be the easiest.
How do I contact them? I do know that bought out Newmar
Here is their website: winnebagoind.com/
They have contact info as well as a link to find dealers.
Whi is there no room for oven. Wheelchair user can’t reach microwave.
I think this is awesome, however those prices are insane. Its more like the super rich disabled can now have a great RV. 😕
It is expensive for sure but have you priced an accessible van? they will run you 70K and up. Nothing is cheap with it comes to specialty items.
what is the price for this handicap model?
I dont remember right off hand. I thought I had the price in the video.
Is that the price with all the handicap accessories? or
👉🏼 😃👍🏼 👈🏼
Too expensive for me I'd love to have it .out of my price range
She says the lift is a 100 lb lift. That would not even lift a child in a power chair. I believe that is a 1000 lb lift. My chair weighs 450 lbs by itself.
Sorry, wouldn't work for a family, mom, dad and adult son in wheel chair. You show me one affordable on disability then I'll believe they've done something for everyone, or just anyone over 2 people. We have a Winnie 35 ft. and with all the modifications and thousands of $, it still isn't wonderful. But we did it by exactly what is needed, not any manufacturer who isn't living the way a wheelchair bound 'needs' to. And I look at this and wonder, who do they think they are setting it up for? Hmmmm Sounds nice but not reality.
It isnt perfect but a step in the right direction. Hopefully, more manufacturers will follow suit. It does come with a drop down bed as well.
Na
There really isn’t very much accessable about this coach! You need to learn from the consumer, me for example, I couldn’t use this…
No offence to the designer but Y would someone be looking at their bedroom while doing number two? should of placed toilet in shower with 1" curb to prevent water and make it as a transfer to toilet to shower. tremendous amount of wasted space in this RV thumbs down.
The open space is for someone in a wheelchair. They are really making strides in accommodating those that need assistance.
