The girl was a contestant and Zhou Sen was an invited guest singer to sing duet with her. Despite being the guest, he did not overwhelmed her with the song, instead, he was constantly checking to make sure she is encouraged with confidence. Side note, the girl was sit singing because she had broken one of the legs during the competition.

Finally!!!!!! This song is like a legend, one of the best version!(any version as long as it is Zhou Shen singing, it will be the best) He is not only a good singer, he is humble as well. His voice blend so well with the girl and together, their voice makes the song come alive. A good singer sings well, but a grest singer works well with others and still stand out while letting others share the spotlight. Everytime I hear this version of Big Fish, I just fell in love with his voice and his personality all over again. That performance was at the Sing! Season 2 in 2017, 1 year before the recording of Super Vocal. Guo Qing was a finalist of her team. In the team final round, Zhou Shen was invited as one of the celebrity guest who performed duet with the Finalists.

About the lending strength part, I felt that too!!! I did read somewhere in the comments that the female singer had actually broken her leg or something so that's why she was actually sitting through the performance.
I believe she is just a contestant though cause I remember reading that he was there as her support on the song or mentor or something like that

The effect of the lyrics of this song (well, pretty much every song in Chinese imho) is really hard to reproduce in English. I've yet to see a translation that does the original justice.
But I think keeping in mind the translation of just one part of this song, the one that strikes me as the song's soul, would suffice because rest of the lyrics underpins the following.
「怕你飛遠去 怕你離我而去
更怕你永遠停留在這裡」
“More than my fear of you leaving is my fear of you becoming stranded here.”
Later in the song, this transforms into:
「看你飛遠去 看你離我而去
原來你生來就屬於天際」
"I can see that you have been born to soar in the heavens above, even as I watch you fly away, leaving me behind."

Guo Qin also named Doris Guo, was a 17 years old high school girl when she performed this song with Zhou Shen in 2017 "The Voice of China(Sing! China)", she won the second place in that year. Guo Qin has pure voice, I like her so much!!
