The shelf on the yew selfbows I've been making is designed to take plastic fletchings. I figured the material doesn't deform as much, so I created a gully for the fletching to travel through. They were the only arrows I had so I figured it would make the bow more versatile Vanes seem to be quite common though
Yes, sir Mr. Joe Daniels has been trying to tell him all along. You can shoot veins off the shelf and still be accurate like anything else. It is all about practice. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate it take care and God bless.
6:32 Mr. Red is da man!!!! That was absolutely AWESOME brother!!!! The comment at 5:42 is the icening on the cake!!! I'm going to be using your quote! (But of course giving you the credit!) I only shoot from 15-16 yards. Once in awhile I do go to 18 or 20 but don't do very good at that distance. But I just chalked it up to the fact I'm not a very good archer! So maybe although you and my friend Retired Rambler do good at 20 yards; It may be true like you point out is that vanes are best from about 15 yards or closer. I thank you for doing this video!!! I did figure you would be able to use them as good as you are, and wanted to see you shoot them, but didn't want to bother you with it since so many dog me for using vanes! When I do my next video I am definitely going to point people to check this video out as well as your channel. As usual with you ... Awesome shooting man! You never disappoint! Like I said in the past, I can't for the life of me understand why you don't have a larger following??? God bless and thanks again for this one, it's exactly what I have been preaching ... It's not hard to be accurate shooting vanes off the shelf!
Wow. I tried vanes years ago. With no luck. Gonna give em another shot. (Pun) 😂. Arrows looked like they were flying very true very quiet. What bow are you shooting?
