    FPDC-FRONT POST DOUBLE CROCHET
    DC INC- DOUBLE CROCHET INCREASE
    FPHDC-FRONT POST HALF DOUBLE CROCHET
    STITCH EXPLANATION
HDC- YO and insert hook in stitch, YO and pull through (3 loops on hook). YO and pull through all loops on hook.
DOUBLE CROCHET INCREASE (DC INC)- Make two DC into the same stitch
FRONT POST DOUBLE CROCHET (FPDC)- YO like a regular double crochet, instead of going into the regular top loop you insert hook from front to back through the space between double crochet stitches below. Yarn over and bring the hook back to the front, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through last two loops. This creates a lump or a “post”
    NOTES TO READ BEFORE STARTING*
    • The chain 2 counts as a stitch
Repeat what is in asterisks * *
•2 DC means 1 DC in the next two stitches. 3 DC means 1 DC in the next 3 stitches...and so forth.
    DIRECTIONS
Start: Make a slip knot onto your hook and CH 3, SL ST into the 1st chain to form a ring. CH 2.
(Optional substitution for a beginner-start with a magic circle instead of a chain 3…)
Round 1: DC 7 inside loop-making sure to crochet over your tail at the same time. SL ST to the second chain of your initial CH 2. The CH 2 counts as the 8th stitch. (8 sts). CH 2.
Round 2: DC in the CH 2 space, DC INC in each stitch around, SL ST to the CH 2. (16 sts) CH 2.
Round 3: DC in the CH 2 space, 1 DC, *DC INC, 1 DC*around. SL ST to the CH 2 space. (24 sts) CH 2.
Round 4: DC in the CH 2 space, DC, FPDC *DC INC, DC, FPDC*around. SL ST to the CH 2 space (32 sts). CH 2.
Round 5: DC in the CH 2 space, DC, 2 DC, FPDC, *DC INC, 2 DC, FPDC*around. SL ST to the CH 2 space. (40 sts) CH 2.
*For the following rounds you will start your row skipping the CH 2 space and making your first DC into the next ST because your CH 2 counts as the first DC of the row.
Round 6: 3 DC, FPDC, *4DC, FPDC*around. SL ST to the CH 2 space. (40 sts) CH 2.
    Rounds 7-9: repeat round 6
To make a FPHDC for the next round you will repeat the same method as a regular FPDC but instead make a HDC stitch.
Rounds 10-11: HDC 3, FPHDC, *HDC 4, FPHDC*around. SL ST to the first (40 sts). CH 2. (For round 11 no need to ch 2, just cut and sew in ends)
Sew on the pom pom with your tapestry needle.
