Windows Longhorn has the best login/logoff sounds
this was never used in windows longhorn, it used xp sounds up until the vista sounds were introduced.
Among all the versions, the sounds of win longhorn is the best one I've ever heard.

I added all of these sounds to my Windows 10 plus I added the famous blue mushroom wallpaper made in 2000. Now I am actually downloading Longhorn on VirtualBox, then I will add the sounds. Cuz it really had XP sounds on these builds.

The sounds are unknown if they ever existed.
They probably doe exist because using a virtual machine running long horn you hear these sounds. Virtual machines are just running an OS exactly how it's supposed to and Microsoft never confirmed if it's real or fake. It probably is real though since it's just an earlier version of windows vista. So are they real? Yes. Probably at least.

Actually, (I think) it uses XP sounds all the way up until the RTM. It seems, along with the WMP11 and Mail icons, they were trying to keep these sounds a surprise.

The shut down, startup, logon, and logoff sounds are slightly angelic, but are quite haunting for me. MAYBE THOSE SOUNDS WOULD GIVE ME NIGHTMARES. But not really.

Update 2024: turns out these sounds are actually not from longhorn, actually they were from a Samsung theme pack from 2005 but someone called them longhorn and that disinformation has circulated for years. Honestly they are still the most fitting sounds for longhorn

guys in ubuntu 17.10 the New Mail sound from long horn is used in ubuntu as the Notify sound

These are fan made, till longhorn 4174 or build m6 they didn’t use this, which afterward they just used the vista sounds I think
