- This is a great awning whether tailgating, camping, or hanging out at the beach. This is an alternative to the large awning permanently attached to the trailer with an economical price tag. This is a great way to create shade and rain protection. Moon Shade has updated this awning with some new features in 2021. They have a new color check out our You tube shorts.

Matt, your always 1 step ahead of us. Now that we completed our cargo trailer camper. We have been looking at awnings for our camper van for the last 2 weeks. Trying to decide for a no drill option. Have it narrowed down between the Moon and another company.
Great video. Wish they would come out with one slightly bigger. Thanks again.
Your video is the best I have seen. I have been researching awnings to replace my fixed awning on my teardrop. I need something that I can put up by myself. The fixed one on my roof rack now is just too much of a pain for me. Heavy, awkward, and no flexibility to move from side to galley.
Thank you for your review and awesome video. I ordered mine last week and yesterday received my Moon Shade (and 2 walls). So easy putting it up after watching your two videos, I barely needed to look at their instructions! Great tip on taking out the pole tip to place in awning grommet, then easing it back into the pole (watch your fingers, it'll pinch!). I love that I can put it over the back of my FJ or on either side. And when I decide on a camper...it will easily "fit" there as well.
Just got mine for tailgating on my van, and I don't have a roof rack. Almost couldn't get the magnet off, it's that strong. Love the awning though, and the quality is worth it.
Glad you found my tip helpful!! I love my moon shade and just got back from camping. 😊
That’s neat you get protection for both your changing room and the doorway, even with only 2 roof bars. Thanks for the review.
Nice instructional video. We ordered ours last week and there was a $15 discount. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome review, we'll presented and explained nicely. Thank you.
Great review! Adds another layer of adaptability.
Great gear. Thanks!
Glad you posted this! I'm a new Moonshader, and didn't know about the pole/caribiner relationship. Mine blew down five times today! I hope this solves the problem!
Glad we could help.
Another great video Matt! We’re waiting for life to slow down so that we can get our Hiker out! If you guys ever come through Utah hit us up and we’ll show you the secret stashes!
Great review, thanks.
Super informative. Thank you. We just bought one for our old school Dodge Ramvan
Thanks for all the details. Excited for it to arrive
Glad it was helpful! Hope you can get out and enjoy doing some camping once it arrives :-) We like how quick and easy it is to set up.
Great vid! Thanks!
Very nice shade cover👍!
Very thorough and informative. I’m sold.
Glad it was helpful!
You two are everywhere! 😅
Very neat. Seems very versatile. But a little too long for me to setup for a quick lunch break
Maybe Moon Shade has 10’ x 9’ in this setup, would give more coverage over trailer. Thanks for sharing.
I might be mistaken, but it looks like you could also put it up with the silver side up for reflectivity on really sunny days. Nice awning!
Not sure if you could do that or not as the clips for attaching the awning to the poles are on the grey side and the carabiners are on the silver side to clip to the attachments.
Those orange ties are awesome 👌 👏
We love our NiteIze ties, they do so many things around camp!
Nice video and review! Instead of replacing the tent stakes, consider replacing the cord loops with something brighter, like neon yellow.
Good idea!
We like trying different Harvest Host sites.

Matt - I like your channel very much. We are considering getting a Hiker Trailer (or similar size/weight teardrop trailer). I wanted to get your thoughts on using a 6 cylinder minivan to tow such trailers. Your input is appreciated.
That should be no problem to pull a small teardrop type trailer with a 6 cylinder minivan. Most of the tear drops are under 2000#.
What type of awning do you use on the passenger side of your trailer? I am trying to figure out a changing and bathroom set up along with the awning for sitting and eating.
We have a Darche 270 awning on the passenger side of the trailer. It is similar to the 23Zero but it is doesn't have th black coating on the bottom side so it is not as dark underneath which we appreciate.
You can find it at:gtfoverland.com/products/darche-eclipse-270%C2%BA-awning?_pos=2&_sid=444462b17&_ss=r
Make sure you are ordering the passenger side :-)
Do you have a link to your changing area? It's so cool!
the changing room is a 23 zero product but OVS has something similar. amzn.to/39onPzl
This looks like a great option! How do you think it would work on the back of the Hiker with the magnet kit?
I was thinking about that today. I will try it and update later.
@@MWDAdventures great. Thanks! We will have 2 support bars on our Hiker too. Hopefully will be picking it up in a month or two.
Matt, are you able to rotate the awning and have the 9' side attached to the metal pole so you get more coverage along the length of the trailer?
It can be rotated but the spredder bar is only for the 7 ft side
We will try to get video of putting the awning the 9' side along the trailer and putting the awning off the back, covering the galley.
👍🏾
Does the straight pole that you’ve run through the magnets come with the moon shade shipment? I don’t see it listed on the accessory page.
It does. I received my Moon Shade yesterday and set it up immediately. The strut pole is part of the main awning package, not an accessory. Not everyone may need it, but they include it. HTH
Where did you get the carabiners for the corners? They have a nice wide opening and I haven’t seen any like that before.
They are part of the awning
@@ericp509ify Thx. I was not sure since the wire loops are for guylines. Am I correct to think the pole that slides through the magnet loops is also included? I didn't see an itemized list of what's included when I went to the site to check it out.
Yes it does. The poles that cross the awning, the legs and the tension rod
I half to purchase my own rooftop ac for my new hiker due to supplier issues company having. Could you make suggestions as to type and watts?
Unfortunately I don't have any suggestions. Just be careful with the rooftop models as the normal construction can't support the weight of the rooftop, unless you purchased the trailer with the reinforced roof.
My truck roof is higher than where you mounted the shade, how much taller can you extend your poles?
Truck mounted is not a problem. I have mounted it on my truck a few times in other videos.
Does the straight pole you’ve run through the magnet eye hooks ship with the moon shade? I don’t see it listed in the accessory page on their site.
Yes, it comes with a 7' strut pole that we put through the magnet eye hooks.
@@MWDAdventures thanks!
what the f was the Jackery plug at the end?
I guess that support pole has no flex for the shape of the teardrop trailer?
No it does not flex - it is a straight pole.
Can you spray the stakes a glow in the dark color?
You could check out our newest video on the moon fab walls then have upgraded the stakes .
What is the magnet and pole link

Hey. Any thoughts on using two moo shades - one off the side and another off the back? I know that leaves a gap of sorts but with the way you can slide the awning maybe two of these with the moo walls is an economical way to create more covered space. Curious if it might work. Hope you’re well! Picking up my Hiker Midrange late March ,,,
Can you set it up only so that it goes out 9 ft or 7 ft?
Yes you could do two Moonshade awnings and a wall. But by the time you do that you might be able to get a 270 awning.
yes you can have it go out either way.
how does this hold at the beach?
We have not tried it at the beach. You would need to stake it down well so it doesn't fly away.
How do you get the discount code ?

Not something I'd want to mess with. Much prefer the 270 fan shape awnings that just open up and fold around. Too much mucking around necessary with this one.
The 270 awnings are definitely a great option - we love ours too. This is a more economical option for people that can't afford the 270 or have other options on their trailer that make the 270 not an option for them.
Those magnets are probably not going to hold up in windy conditions.
I believe their website states that on the "add on" page for the magnets - you are correct.
Looks like too much work to set up.
It goes up really easy. I can one person set it up if need be but two works better.
I can do it well under ten minutes by myself.
Lol, what a POS contraption. I would have my ARB awning and awning room deployed in half the time!
