When I first listened to the "you send me bullets, but I send you flowers" lyric, I was in a relationship where I could see the breakup coming, but I stayed because her words about the future contradicted her actions. It's now been four months since the relationship ended and, though the worst of it is over, I still get choked up when I think of how in love I was with a version of a person that was never truly there.
Edit: ugh, the chorus seems to make me more than just choked up
