Okay, from the community perspective on the Miami Boys. I worked for a nonprofit next to East Lake Meadows in the mid-80s. A guy from Miami was hired to work w the teen program. He had a fine younger sister so I went by his place since he was a coworker (I was college student btw). Everyone at his spot smoked weed on the few occasions I visited. Within a year of him coming to the A with his “family” East Lake Meadows and east Atlanta had become crack central. I can’t say w certainty but I’m sure he came to recruit esp working w young people and showing them how to make fast money. I witnessed this w my own eyes until I moved in to another job. I’m not street but I’d venture to say the dope game started in east Atlanta and made it’s way to the west side. Those OGs had the west side on lock until crack came through and the young boys (Shawty Lo’nem) started hitting the block.
