I'd like to see that firewall heat shield remade of metal and covered in that pretty silver cerakote. That insulation will help a lot keeping noise and heat from the engine bay out of the cabin.
Order some new sound deadening material for the firewall. On short trips it would be fine without it but on longer trips the engine noise will be too much.
Re the manifold, clean it up, heat treat the welds get that blue look say 2stroke pipe look, like Cam does on his expansion chambers and then use a clear coat Cerakote finish to maintain that look, jm 2c🤘
@@ericishappy1979 lol. Feel like we all do at times. Nice gent just commented on mine. He might actually save me $100’s if not $1,000’s in the future builds.
If he’s gonna fix the core support and will want to repaint it. Which would be sick to have the wrap off and color match that fender and the rear bumper while he’s at it lol
With all the time and energy put into it at this point I would respray the car. I don’t have anything against wrap but it’s a cheap “fix” for changing colors or making a car look better. At this point I think the car warrants a paint job, but one step at a time, he’s taken on a pretty big project Just in what he’s doing right now.
The guy that gave you the quote for the drain definitely gave you the “f off price”. I do the exact same, a tough job that you don’t really need but you set the price so that profit makes it worth the headache.
Hey buddy, I’m running an RS ABS delete on my 700whp street driven evo 8. Best clean up mod you can do for the firewall!!! The drivability with great pads and SS lines make it so that there is no noticeable difference. I drive it in stop/go traffic all day long and never worry about it. May be a little stiffer but you will always stop on a dime and have great pedal feel. Worth the investment for a clean bay
👍x7k...done, now get building!😜. You need that insulation for the firewall. Imagine realizing the mistake after the build and you have to pull the motor again.
firewall shielding is there for a reason and the bigger turbo set up will produce much more heat. Loud hot cars especially on long trips are not a fun thing.
You could use sound dampener with foil backing instead of the black mat. Even use the black mat as a template. That would insulate and look much cleaner.
Man you made all this hard work. You should go the extra mile and build the botom end. 1 you will do it and never have to take the engine out again. 2 if you blow it up you will risk damaging all the hard work of cerakote you did.3 you will have a free mind at the end of the night. This is just my opinion man love youre videos there is no one like you on youtube working as hard you deserve more man!
Going above and beyond for this build, its been so fun watching everything. Hard to beat the sound of the black 8 though! We'll see whens she's all finished up, keep doing your thing!
Not gonna lie, watching him pull all those parts and harnesses out of the engine bay gives me alot of anxiety because when I'm working on my car I'm always stressed that I'm gonna forget where the shit goes and what hardware goes where etc. It's awesome watching how in depth he's going with this build.
I like the Way you Said.....”Because it makes me happy”.....When you where talking about cleaning up the Engine room 😉😁 I know that feeling to, so i really do understand how you feel 😉 Sorry for my bad English 😂 Michael from Denmark
as far as the ABS delete its not a trade-off for a "driving experience" and won't affect how it drives like it sounds like you think, the only difference would be whatever proportioning valve or brake bias valve you run
So the 6266 can make some decent torque, enough to put some strain on the stock rods BUT that all depends on how it’s tune and how much you want to push. With that said there are plenty of stock block evos running them with good results but if you can might as well build the block so you can push if desired
Got I like from me, since you completely disassembled the whole engine bay to make it look a lot more cleaner, you might as well do the bottom end of the engine.. God Bless brotha!
I’d get some of the foil backed adhesive heat shielding, it would be easier to keep clean and retain it, although it might be there more for sound deadening than heat shielding
i’d love to see you slap on a full voltex/varis bodykit for this blue8. walk us through with the installations and etc. there’s not much videos about it here on youtube. gonna cost u a lot tho... it’ll be a treat to see that happens but nonetheless i enjoy watching all of your vids daily. keep it up
the firewall padding is for sound deadining and a heat shield for the cabin. so don't remove it, and if you don't want to keep the one that came with the car just replace it. don't delete abs after all this is NOT a race car but a street car and abs is safety specially in a state where you see snow, it's not worth it.
Devin for all the effort you are putting in I think you should do the bottom end rebuild and buy a new core support to make it 100% would be a shame to lift the hood and see that damage bit eventime. I'm happy now the cv joints are not going to run dry lol 😆
Look out for a large version of a cat litter tray to place on the shop floor to catch all the crap, degreaser and rinsing. Then pump it out ? and repeat 😄
My evo 8 and abs light on due to rubbed through wire or something and I daily drove it in Wisconsin winters too! No need for abs if you just leave space in front of you in the snow! Delete it so it looks better
Since you have stripped it down you should go ahead remove both fenders, take your wiring harness and wire it all together and have it hang from above.👍👍👍😎😎😎
The more I see the factory “Blew by you Blue”, makes me wish you’d go back that color. Also, removing all the cars systems....😳....but it shows you’re committed. Can’t wait to see her all cleaned up.
id reccomened Boost lab for the t51r mod. Turbo lab of america has had some sketchy stuff going lately. I picked up one of their t04 rebuild kits for a pte turbo and was only able to use the new journal shaft bearings as nothing else fit. There's also more pretty bad reviews about how he swapped out chra's with bad ones and got turbos mixxed up. Not bashing, just looking out my dude! Hope we hit 7k!
Get a new firewall shield / deadening, whatever it is called. It is there for sound deadening and also for heat shielding. It is not good to just erase it. Either get a new OEM one or maybe at least put in some aluminium waffle plate thing.
Let’s go 7k, so SHE BUILT, send it bois and gurls! 🤘
“I don’t know much about cv axels”😅..but can rebuild a whole car with a wrench 😆This dude Devin is really something just amazing
Hahaha
lmao of right! Cut to next scene entire engine bay being dismantled lol.
“I don’t care, cause it will make me happy.” Greatest attitude to have and we should have more of that attitude in the world.
Devin’s EVO rebuild series > all other series. Love the videos man!
Right! I genuinely love all his rebuild series. Can't wait to have a garage to knock some projects out like that.
I'd like to see that firewall heat shield remade of metal and covered in that pretty silver cerakote. That insulation will help a lot keeping noise and heat from the engine bay out of the cabin.
"I dont know what I'm gonna do, but I never do. So let's do it" -Devin
Remember those fine words of wisdom from our favorite car youtuber
The sound deadening (as well as knocking down NVH levels) also keeps unwanted heat out of the cabin. I think you will regret not replacing it.
I agree. It's not necessary.plus deleting the abs would be better.real racers don't need no abs!. See Fujiwara for example lol
Order some new sound deadening material for the firewall. On short trips it would be fine without it but on longer trips the engine noise will be too much.
I think that firewall padding adds to engine bay sound dampening, just my guess it may be a little louder inside the cab without it.
Re the manifold, clean it up, heat treat the welds get that blue look say 2stroke pipe look, like Cam does on his expansion chambers and then use a clear coat Cerakote finish to maintain that look, jm 2c🤘
Lol Devin begrudgingly redoes the grease pack on the axles lol! I’m glad you did it man!
Proof that Devin reads the comments
Still needs to pack more moly grease inside of them, but only time will tell how long they will now last lol.
@@ericishappy1979 lol. Feel like we all do at times. Nice gent just commented on mine. He might actually save me $100’s if not $1,000’s in the future builds.
@@MrZimmaframe lol right, but they’re gonna look sharp as hell until then lol
Lmao nooooo he pressure washed directly into the expansion valve. All that water gonna be hard to Evac if he plans on using the AC.
We need to get this guy some Milwaukee red. Driver had trouble getting bolts off. Smh. Way to give us what we want!
I might be the only one that feels this way, but the wrap has got to go. Your buffing skills could make that EVO next level.
Honestly I feel you, but I’m pretty sure like he mentioned it was in a fender bender, that side fender doesn’t match the electric blue
@@dbol4034 well that will give him paint skill practice....But I agree with both of you

Polished ceramic coat on the manifold. Really helps with the heat.
Make like a “slip and slide” with a big tarp funneling the water out the door.
Dude this literally exactly my idea I had in my head. Lol nice

Bottom end build here we come!!! 😃
Definitely should put back in the fire wall heat shield lol
Reduces cabin noise as well
BOIIII we're gonna hit 7k. Better start ordering parts my friend
Somehow Devin can make a cinematic of anything lol.. cv axles and boots sitting on a work bench, proceeds to make a fire little cinematic 😂
Won't miss any seconds on how devin rebuild the evo VIII🔰🔥just how good he is its incredible how he explore and apply the way he thinks

The attention to details on this evo is fucking 🔥🔥🔥
Rebuilding a turbo so it sounds like music to your ears is definitely not rice. 😎 🤙🏼

Ive used an inflatable kiddie pool under the bay on my old subaru. It's works great and water doesnt get everywhere
I really love 2 things about this project: i would love to do this to my car, and all the love that beatiful Evo 8 deserves. Keep going!!!
Bed line then wheel wells and the rest of the unibody since you got this far with it. Save it from the rust!
Now this guy is living the life !
Let's go front facing turbo!
So glad the video got 7 k likes bottom end here we come!
Keep the sound protection on the firewall stops sound transferring into the car and heat transferring aswell
Don't take the heat shield off it stops the exhaust heat from getting in the cabin and possibly starting a fire
I wish I could like this more than once to get to 7k
Bottom end build. Get it done. Love the vids in the evo
Got I like from me, since you completely disassembled the whole engine bay to make it look a lot more cleaner, you might as well do the bottom end of the engine.. God Bless brotha!
Devin. Get a coupl cans spray foam. Run a bead around the car with a channel out the door. I’ve done it before.
haha My TDI makes a turbo whistle too.... but it is because my turbo is on the way out xD
Mil spec wiring harnesses! They have a quick disconnect at the firewall.
Grab a spill kit if you're going to pressure washing the shop it'll keep the water contains so it's not a big of a mess
Wrap the manifold with fiber glass tape 😍
Wire tuck is on point great series! 🔥🍽
7K likes 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 now you gotta do it
When you rebuild the turbo make sure you mark the turbine wheel to the shaft! Or you will have to get it rebalanced!
Firewall padding is all about sound isolation. It will look so much leaner without so keep that way :) Better order bottom end stuff allready :D
that thing on firewall was for sound deadening
My guy is balls deep in this Evo 🤪🤪🤪
Devin you really need that heat shield otherwise it will transfer a lot of heat from the engine bay into the cabin! Love your videos!
the dark blue clashes although it does look nice cleaned up. I would paint the engine bay a gunmetal or similar color.
8:46 that 10-60 tho🥵
I’d get some of the foil backed adhesive heat shielding, it would be easier to keep clean and retain it, although it might be there more for sound deadening than heat shielding
With almost 6k like in only 9 hours it’s definitely gonna happen. Nice job with the channel 🤙
really awesome to see someone who admits his mistakes. also hood stack it y not🤷♂️

U should definitely try and wrap the bay never seen it done b4. And u can put ur skills to the test. It would look clean that blue
I think you should go the extra half mile and do some good harness tucking and make it amazing
the firewall padding is for sound deadining and a heat shield for the cabin. so don't remove it, and if you don't want to keep the one that came with the car just replace it. don't delete abs after all this is NOT a race car but a street car and abs is safety specially in a state where you see snow, it's not worth it.

I'm happy now the cv joints are not going to run dry lol 😆
Maybe the use of a collapsible or inflatable tub to catch all that degreaser run off could be an option.
You should tuck the ac and abs lines!
Wow that's awesome ❤️
Get a new firewall heat shield please .
Devin, you should do something crazy with the engine bay like Rhino liner or repaint the whole bay.
Right as I needed something to watch! Thanks for looking out Devin haha
Also, I’ve never hit “like” on a video so fast before lol REBUILD THE BOTOM ENDDD LETS GOOO!
Yo Devin as you said balls deep keep up the good work and I think you should do the manifold yellow ceramic to match the other parts in the bay
Look out for a large version of a cat litter tray to place on the shop floor to catch all the crap, degreaser and rinsing. Then pump it out ? and repeat 😄
Forge all the thing, build the head and replace the hot side with a bigger exhaust housing
My evo 8 and abs light on due to rubbed through wire or something and I daily drove it in Wisconsin winters too! No need for abs if you just leave space in front of you in the snow! Delete it so it looks better
Always love a good Devin Niemela rebuild series
Ceramic coat the exhaust manifold! get it in alot of different colors, and is better than exhaust bandage
Need that firewall insulation replace especially you have hot engine to protect your electronics in the interior.
Be cool to paint the engine bay all black!! Especially now that it’s all cleaned out and good time to flush that heater core
Might as well go full send on it. You spent already tons of time on the small things that the bottom end is just a must to do....
