    I'd like to see that firewall heat shield remade of metal and covered in that pretty silver cerakote. That insulation will help a lot keeping noise and heat from the engine bay out of the cabin.

  • @thewatsonian8111
    @thewatsonian8111 Před 3 lety +24

    The sound deadening (as well as knocking down NVH levels) also keeps unwanted heat out of the cabin. I think you will regret not replacing it.

    • @shawnclifford8617
      @shawnclifford8617 Před 3 lety

      I agree. It's not necessary.plus deleting the abs would be better.real racers don't need no abs!. See Fujiwara for example lol

  • @jamesemcclure
    @jamesemcclure Před 3 lety +14

    Order some new sound deadening material for the firewall. On short trips it would be fine without it but on longer trips the engine noise will be too much.

  • @paule5812
    @paule5812 Před 3 lety +17

    I think that firewall padding adds to engine bay sound dampening, just my guess it may be a little louder inside the cab without it.

  • @maverick2242

    Re the manifold, clean it up, heat treat the welds get that blue look say 2stroke pipe look, like Cam does on his expansion chambers and then use a clear coat Cerakote finish to maintain that look, jm 2c🤘

    • @lukethompson5885
      @lukethompson5885 Před 3 lety +1

      With all the time and energy put into it at this point I would respray the car. I don’t have anything against wrap but it’s a cheap “fix” for changing colors or making a car look better. At this point I think the car warrants a paint job, but one step at a time, he’s taken on a pretty big project Just in what he’s doing right now.

  • @boyscoutslayers
    @boyscoutslayers Před 3 lety

    The guy that gave you the quote for the drain definitely gave you the “f off price”. I do the exact same, a tough job that you don’t really need but you set the price so that profit makes it worth the headache.

    Hey buddy, I’m running an RS ABS delete on my 700whp street driven evo 8. Best clean up mod you can do for the firewall!!! The drivability with great pads and SS lines make it so that there is no noticeable difference. I drive it in stop/go traffic all day long and never worry about it. May be a little stiffer but you will always stop on a dime and have great pedal feel. Worth the investment for a clean bay

  • @keithprinn6900
    @keithprinn6900 Před 3 lety

    firewall shielding is there for a reason and the bigger turbo set up will produce much more heat. Loud hot cars especially on long trips are not a fun thing.

  • @MrCmayhew69
    @MrCmayhew69 Před 3 lety

    You could use sound dampener with foil backing instead of the black mat. Even use the black mat as a template. That would insulate and look much cleaner.

You should go the extra mile and build the botom end. 1 you will do it and never have to take the engine out again. 2 if you blow it up you will risk damaging all the hard work of cerakote you did.3 you will have a free mind at the end of the night. So the 6266 can make some decent torque, enough to put some strain on the stock rods BUT that all depends on how it’s tune and how much you want to push. With that said there are plenty of stock block evos running them with good results but if you can might as well build the block so you can push if desired

    the firewall padding is for sound deadining and a heat shield for the cabin. so don't remove it, and if you don't want to keep the one that came with the car just replace it. don't delete abs after all this is NOT a race car but a street car and abs is safety specially in a state where you see snow, it's not worth it.
