That's a bugger my friend , losing your dad at such an early age , words do not mean much but , as I have learnt , music and the 42 will keep those precious memories for you . Keep your chin up .
Dad is listening all the time And will guide you through life nice words speeking of dad I list my mum and dad and all my family ,, takecare Buddy 👍❤️ godbless
Mike Lindup is my favorite member in the band. He comes from a musical family (his father was a film & TV composer, his mother is a famous actress/singer from Belize), he was classically trained and kicks so much ass on the synths, and his falsetto singing is an amazing compliment to Mark King’s baritone vocals. It also doesn’t hurt that the album this song was from was produced by Earth Wind & Fire.
He's what brought me here. He not only plays masterfully, but his parts fit the songs perfectly. Similar to what Bernie Worrell did with Parliament Funkadelic. His synth parts basically make the record and steal the show....quietly.
He bridged the gaps of King bass brilliantly with his harmony and synth. I agree very talented yet, not mentioned as heavily as King. Defiantly partnered King style of jazz funk perfectly.
My late wife was an account for polydor, in the 80s, we used to get free tickets for so many fantastic artists level 42 was always my favourite concerts
Excellent music, In France many musics journalists in magazines were saying that Mark King was the best bassist in the World in the 80s. Thanks for the music Level 42.
Mark could well have been the best in the world, but if he was, it was quite an achievement, because he was up against some pretty stiff competition!!, Entwistle, McCartney, MacVie, to name but 3... however, there were dozens!
@@michaelrawson6261 McCartney was an amazing musician, but he could never play King's bass lines, he is nowhere near King's talent as a bass player, McCartney is certainly a better composer than King.
This is just incredible music from the great Level 42 I've been a very big fan of this 4 piece band from England UK !!! Dance disco funk soul pop r+b their work through the years is just incredible Lead vocals Mark King is just a very talented artist his playing of a guitar is just incredible staggering he has just turned 60 recently they were a ground breaking band of the glorious 80s !!!
Such a fabulous song and the first one from this amazing group that I really recall listening to in 1983 when I was 9. They then went on to dominate the UK charts for the rest of the fantastic 80s. On my 30th birthday I treated myself to a ticket to see them at York Barbican and took my mum-unfortunately she went out at half time as said she wasn’t keen so she missed all the greatest hits, but I had a fabulous time as the second half was just an 80s nostalgia trip. Favourite song has got to be “Its over”- great lyrics and the tune is so sad but really memorable. Also Mike and Mark were extremely easy on the eye as well as brilliant musicians on the keys and THAT bass. Wow!
There's a girl at the back making eyes at me. With her hair long and black is a sight to see . That was my girlfriend in 1983. She's my wife now and we've got 2 daughter's. Thanks to this tune.
One of Level 42's tracks featuring Mike Lindup's vocals extensively. Incredibly, Mike's mother is still living. Nadia Evadne Cattouse (born 2 November 1924) is a Belizean-born British actress, singer and songwriter. Although sadly, Mike's father, the composer David Lindup, died in 1992.
I have a new favorite song by Level 42! Love this video first of all! I love the guys having fun, living life, playing their instruments so well, Lindup and King sharing the lead vocals and I love Boon and Phil Gould singing along!
Met my dear wife to be on a blind date at the Ipswich Regent , in the days where there was no malice or nonsense , would love my dear Janet back and those days .
As a 16-year-old I bought this 45 single and played it so incessantly that I expected it to asking me new questions…40 years later I'm writing this comment…If nothing else I suggest (Sussex friends) you question your concept of 'Time'…And I'll leave this there.
We need to crowdsource a 90 minute retrospective documentary to pay tribute and provide a historical record of this incredible band and their contributors, producers etc. Time is short.

Larry Dunn and Verdine White of Earth, Wind, & Fire helped them tremendously.
One of the coolest peaces of jazz funk ever, the groove on this tune is killer............🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼

One for the all time top 10....Mark King owning the bass guitar, a classic feelgood tune from back in the day...😎😎😎😎
I remember there being quite a fuss when Mark finally completed the instalment payments on it. I think the band threw a party to celebrate.
Probably the most underrated band ever.
Without doubt, Live they were supreme.
They were on TOTP a lot and were commercially successful, so I would say there are more underrated bands out there...
Absolutely. Japan and Gang Of Four are two other bands in the same situation.
