I have a 97 k1500 6.5 turbo diesel, I’ve done tons of upgrades to it from lift pump to harmonic balancer, and even turbo, don’t forget to upgrade those oil cooler lines on it! They will leak even if you get brand new oem ones! Leroy diesel makes all kinds of good stuff for the 6.5!
It makes me very happy to see a 6.5 in a capable person's hands haha. I LOVE my 6.5 most reliable vehicle I've had
No kidding? Very cool. I've got to get this one up and going.
GM 6.5L is really good motor and it is just simple mechanical we can work on them, I have a 94 Crewcab 6.5L, 240,000 miles on it. Agreed that 6.5L have good mpg.
Here is an owner of a GMC k2500 '95, greetings from Spain.
Robbie your ears must have been ringing I was just saying UBT hasn’t dropped a show in a while and a day later it’s here excellent timing!!!!!keep up the good content!!!!! Hoping to see some OBS goodness soon!!!???
Took a small hiatus for a bit but trying to get back in the swing of things. Thanks so much for staying tuned in.
This very nostalgic for me. My dad had a '93 3500 with the 6.5 diesel. The oil lifter pump would break every two and a half years like clockwork. Other than that it was pretty a good vehicle.
So cool! I'm rally glad to own this one and put our spin on it
Mike really knows his stuff. He needs his own channel. He is a funny dude.
I recently just got my 2nd obs, first diesel 96 k2500 6.5 can't wait to watch the progress!
Sick truck guys! Can't wait to see how the build turns out for ya!
My first truck was a 1994 silverado extended cab 2wd 5.7 and I drove it to college and it had over 200k miles original but it was super reliable and had really good power. Miss that truck. Can’t wait for the build!
So cool! I love hearing stories like that
Must have filmed this Saturday as I see my Galaxie in the background on the trailer lol
That's it! A couple hours after he got back.
I was checking that big ol ford. ...
People need to realize how badass chevy rectangles are lmao
About time you guys got a OBS!! I just picked up a OBS 2000 Chevy Silverado cclb 3500 4x4, and the 454 spun a bearing and the engine locked up. I’m picking up a ‘02 6.0 with 140k on it tomorrow and I’m gonna LS swap it!! I can’t wait to get started! Keep up the great work! 🤘🏻
I did the vacuum pump delete and grabbed an hd gates belt as well. I'll grab the part number for y'all when I get home. Edit: I checked and the text has been scrubbed from my belt. Something must be crooked. But the belt is 1/2" shorter than with the vacuum pump
Looking forward to hearing it with the 4" exhaust y'all bought for it.
I got my tune from kennedy diesel for my 94 one ton. Love it, helped fuel econ, power, and helped my trans behave a bit better when I'm hauling my heavy loads. I plan on cutting out the webbing in the intake hat here soon. Down the line I'll be looking at a marine style upper intake as well.
This will be a good build, video quality was good, angels were food, lighting was good, volume was good, good quality.
Why would you eat angels???
Thanks, man!
Pumped on this build
Me too! Should come together quickly.
Finally OBS nation!!!!
Yes sir!
I had a C2500HD with the 6.5 and loved that truck. Rust got the best of it, but the power train was still going strong. It had the mechanical IP and such.
Now I'm wrapping up on dropping it into a Toyota FJ80. I also did an HX35 swap to give me some more exhaust options (I opted for 3" with a side dump), 4l80e with shift kit, custom intake, etc. It is going to be a great setup. I can't drive it until I get a lift due to oil pan clearance and everything is on back order right now.
Beautiful truck, and for $1K, man... Really excited to see the progress of this special build! New horizons are being opened.
Yes they are!
QUADSTAR TUNING QUADSTAR TUNING QUADSTAR TUNING they will get you hooked up with EVERYTHING youll need for this truck
I just wanna say. I pee out of my ass
The photos in that mag look amazing!
They are. Use code United to get 20% off a subscription.
Looking forward to watching this series. Picked up at 92 6.5 from my grandparents. It just crossed 89,000 miles.
New video coming soon!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Nice! Can’t wait. Can y’all link a parts list for this video?
I'm in! I have nearly the identical platform. Difference being that mine has the S engine which has the EGR. Still driving my 94 with all the reliability upgrades.
Looks like you have a great a great plan set for this one....count me tuned in😎
Nice video. I'm looking forward to seeing what the truck is turned into. I've liked the 6.5 Detroit Turbo Diesel since my mom had a 2wd 1994 GMC Suburban 2500 with the 6.5 in it. I could get the Suburban back if I wanted to and had the money as a keepsake since mom passed away in 2019.
Thanks! I'm really excited to see how it performs.
Such a sick truck!!! I have the same one, interior and peeling white paint but tbi 350/4/60e. In the middle of an LQ4/80e swap. It was my grandpa's from new.
man, that's so rad!
Last summer I bot ‘94 K1500 with 6.5 & 4L80. It’s in great shape with 60k miles. I love the truck.
I added American Racing Outlaw wheels. I’m going 90s look.
Love what you are doing with the truck.
Thank you very much! Yours sounds a little more cherry than mine lol
Nice truck, reminds me my old Silverado 1500 I drove it to 350k, the guy that bought it from me still driving it with same engine
Awesome!
UBT and an OBS build..... it’s the best of both worlds
I worked at a GM dealership for 13 years. We had a policy that if you took a 6.5 diesel or Cadillac Catera into service, you would immediately be fired! LOL Good luck Brother!
haha thanks brother! Hopefully we have a decent one.
Nice to see an OBS build! Cool new addition to your fleet.
Im happy to finally have one I'm excited about
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS They are starting to come up like the squares, gonna be a cool truck. My Gpa and Uncle had ones just like that, white too. Happy for you buddy!
Yingling Beer!!! Real deal!!
Camp and Beer
Heath 6.5??? Upgrades..?
Good stuff
Nice truck for sure. My old boss had a long bed OBS 2wd diesel Non turbo man it was a dog!!!!! Lol but we never had a issue with it ever
I’m looking forward to watching this one !
Thanks for continuing to stay plugged in!
Awesome!!
As an ex GM diesel tech I can definitely say the PMD is the biggest 6.5 issue!
Yes sir! Thanks for the guidance
Did you ever see mainweb cracks? I unfortunately found out my 98 is a 506 block which apparently is notorious for mainweb cracks. Had my truck for over a year now and she's been dead reliable. I have installed a fluidamper and one piece crankshaft pulley to combat weak cranks
"BIG D" Detroit approved!!
Yes sir!
i have a 95 k2500 6.5 and it smokes a bit more then that on start up but i also have a glow plug not working. highly recommend the g60 glow plugs as the help with the cold starts. mine should be here any day now.
cool truck
Super cool!
Awesome Robbie! 👊
Thanks, brother!
Ready to see more I just bought a 98 2500 light duty that matches my 98 1500
It’s next up.
Dude This is pretty sweet! Love the channel!
Awesome thank you!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS
Y’all have inspired me to ls swap my square body
Maaan I'm ready to see more progress to this truck! I have a 1995 just like it.
Oh mine also has a almost perfect dash in it the speaker grilles are broken, the truck is one of the straightest trucks I've seen especially since it is a farm truck and it has a good working factory dash guage panel that lights up as gm designed them to no burnout spots when the lights are on and even the 4 wd indicator panel lights up,it is a 265k mile truck..
My early 94 has 4 things about it I consider awesome considering it was originally bought for use as a farm truck it's had 4 owners and all of them are farmers, so even though it has a little rust it's only around the edges and it has like 4 dents in the whole truck. The dash is not all busted up and it's factory, the guages illuminate as they are designed to and don't have the numerous burn out spots when the lights are on,has the factory grille and it's chrome mirrors both are factory and not even cracked but the grille looks like crap Because the chrome plating junk is peeling off,but being a farm truck so is the clear coat my truck is two tone onyx black top and bottom and I believe quicksilver in the center running down the side of the truck and it has the triple stripe red pinstripe separating the top paint scheme from the center. And it has 265, miles it has the gm am/fm stereo radio with separate bass and treble rocker buttons, but someone robbed the metal audio control module out from under the dash for a v6 w/t 91 c1500 cheyenne.
Don’t forget about the faulty oil cooler lines
Rob you ran over your beer? That's roughing the beverage lol. Another great video
To be fair, Mike actually ran over it but I sat in on the front tire
Make some more videos on the truck I’m currently working on I 94 6.5 and starting to build it up and I want to see more videos on this truck being built as I go forward with my build
We're about to. Definitely jinxed myself by saying it was going to be quick! lol
Bad ass truck!
First episode I've watched and they have yuengling. I will be watching more.
Thanks for watching, man! We don't discriminate on many beers but our go-tos are Yuengling and Modelo
NOT A BAD TRUCK, IMPRESSIVE! Even before all the modifications, it's nice for an average joe, but we ain't about that here 😉
haha exactly
Just did my 6.5. love it it has headaches lol
Rushworth Night Train Wheels
Yeah differently into what y'all are doing with this truck, I have a 94 Chevy c2500hd with a 5.7l tbi and have been thinking about upgrading to a turbo 6.5l mainly for fuel economy and torque.
Awesome!
that hell of deal for 2,000 buck and it look very clean
It really is
Finally an OBS
YEAH!
Cool truck..that build its gonna
So pumped!
y'all make my day
haha we try!
That 6.5 has a distinct sound
It really does. I love it!
Damn the wheels are exactly what I want on my obs
Detroit Steel Wheel knows what's up!
Im buying one as well
Just like my Silverado except the transmission and rear axle.. and the primer grey Galvanized steel spots on the Dr door is how my truck looks almost all the way down the Dr side, except mine is onyx gloss black quicksilver down the center of the sides of the truck and is the Z71 has a 0.40 over 355tbi, and heartthrob deep tone dual exhaust kit..
Bought a 85 crew cab gmc c3500 with a 6.5 in it last year. Put 2 new promaxx heads and new turbo plus a lot of other little things. Drove it to work 30min away Fine. Then on the drive home I think wrist pin bushing let go. Beware of wrist pin bushing.
Whoa! Good to know.
Dang, I should've come over with Rick and Jeremy lol
Welcome anytime brother!
Intercooling the 6.5 Turbo will give you a nice bump in power, mileage, and longevity
You should clear coat that paint job I'm not even watching the rest of the video because that is would be the coolest clear coat paint job ever
Nice Benchmade knife 😝
I love my 6.5
Next time you're up around southern Illinois to see Jessie out of level 7 you should hit me up I have a few trucks that you guys might like to see. Only about a mile from level 7
I don’t know if the lift came with shocks, but you may want to consider other options. In my experience they definitely live up to their name. “Rough” Country
It did. Considered that myself.
Why did I breath in when he showed the camera the wipes? I know I can't smell them but man did my brain try.
haha gotcha
Sick rig the reason that it has the 4l80e is because of the 6.5 because the 4l60e can't handle the 6.5 to much tourque
Very well could be but when I was looking into it all I got the impression that wasn’t the reason - that it was simply up to how it was ordered. Either way, I’m glad it does.
A flow tie grill might look good.
Love the video... all the content... I still got 1 question for you..... how the HAIL do you let anyone, run over your beer. Well, it was a Yeng yang...... we just need to talk about your taste in beer from here on out..
All joking aside, cool content.
Keep it coming
man, I honestly couldn't figure it out at first but saw in the footage when editing that I sat it on the front tire and left it. smh
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS LMAO
I understand
I'm wanting to put 285/75/r16 Goodyear duratrac at tires on my Z71.. mine has the factory headunit control panel, but the data module box is missing..
Heavily modded 6.5 owner here!
Hey Robbie I hope everything is well with you it’s been quite lately for UBT.
All good. Been taking a bit of a break but about to get back at it!
Want to do a 4 inch lift on mine but,I want to straight axle swap a Dana 44 75-78 front axle and all spring lift with stainless steel brake lines and braided brake hoses..
Oh yeah that's the other thing I was going to mention I realize it is a early 94 so it has the metal 80's style below eye level mirrors, but factory for my truck and they are not broken and has absolutely no broken glass!! And the rear side windows actually extend out no srw...
Still waiting on this build! I have a 1995 same drivetrain exactly, 3:73 gears, same color even...
It’s happening! I even have all the parts
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS awesome! Well I just broke the tranny in half on my 95 K3500 crew cab, not sure which way to go but I might pull the motor, stud the block and put it in my 95 k2500 6 lug...
I got my 95 6lug K2500 stripped down and in for paint, I decided to go that way instead of putting $2500 into the K3500 for a new trans. I'm gonna freshen up the motor and do the head studs then put it in this heavy half!
Just found your channel and this video, have you guys abandoned this build or on the back burner?
Buy sleeved tierods, you'll thank me someday lol
Good to know! We're gonna redo all of the front movable parts.
Greetings: 07:01 Guy mentioned 15in rims, Why? It has nothing to do with the application. 08:42- The PowerStroke was 175hp, 205hp and 210hp..never 250hp. On a good note- Remarkable find....a TBI trimmed 6.5 Z71 in great shape and drives well. Thx 4 the share.
Can u elaborate on the 2 stroke oil in the fuel? Is that work on cummins, and powerstroke as well ?
haha I don't know much about it other than it's a an old school trick that helps clean the injectors, I think. Mike sad he'd been doing it for years in his LBZ so I gave it a shot in this old fellow. Please do your research before trying it in your truck.
Is there a dedicated website for buying, selling and trading c-10’s????
Gotta love GM and their defective white paint!
Make sure to do a pmd relocate and a high flow waterpump
On the list
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS Cool I'm looking forward to seeing more of the truck not many mess with the 6.5.
Look up Quadstar Tuning. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
Cool because as much as I say I love gm square body trucks,I actually got rid of my 86 Chevy k20 custom deluxe longbed c6p 4x4 beat up rusty farm truck, I traded for a early 94 Chevy Silverado extended cab short bed z71 with a rebuilt th700r4 transmission from a 1990 chevy k2500 and new replacement nv241c part time transfer case, and it has a rebuilt 1987 chevy 350 0.40 over 4bolt main tbi injection truck.
So cool! They're definitely great trucks.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS yeah as I told my best friend I kinda miss my 86 Chevy k20 square body I kinda don't I acquired the early 94 Chevy Silverado because I have a autistic son who is also almost completely non verbal so he isn't going to understand not to lean all the way up by the metal dash in the k20,so honestly I believe he will be safer riding in the back of my extended cab,my extended cab truck has way more interior room than my square body did,it is a 40/60 split front bench seat but it being a Silverado dr side is pwr. Even though this truck needs rockers and cab corners,it's doors and floorboards are solid.again impressive since this is a farm truck since it was bought new, really it's only downsides compared to my 86 Chevy k20 is Silverado is pwr options 86 is not and the early 94 Chevy Silverado is a short bed obviously my 86 Chevy k20 was a longbed. The 94 Silverado has the preupdate 94 Chevy grille hence it's a early 94 made in the first half of the year, but one way to tell it's a 94 factory standard on 1994 year models 3rd brake light on the center of the back top of the truck cab, and this truck has a true dual exhaust system although it started a a cat back heartthrob glasspack and 3 1/2 inch outlet slant cut 18 inch long exhaust tip kit but it was ordered for the 3 inch cat flange it has the smaller one being a early 94.so it's welded on and straight pipes back to the heartthrob glasspacks, and the tips come straight out the back exhaust was on the truck when I got it,I have thought about redoing it heating up the pipes and making them 90's behind each rear tire but it sounds great so I left it alone.
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS on my Facebook there's actually a short video of the early 94 Chevy my late brother made shortly after I got it because it didn't run on its own when I got it I put a brand new fuel pump sending unit assembly with a Napa fuel filter and got it running,it's actually my profile video on facebook..
Would like to see an update video on this truck even it just included a daily drive video compilation.
It's coming before the Summer!
Hey Robbie, can we get a update video on all UBT trucks?
Absolutely. That's why I mentioned it in this video. Coming soon!
The pic “look you were going for “ truck had Badass wheels , anyone know of them particular?
They are Detroit Steel Wheel MACKs
I’m leaning towards Bedliner paint job 🤔
Haha it’s at least getting rattle canned
Any more uploads for the OBS
Not yet but coming soon!
Thank you for the video! Who made 6.5 diesels? Detroit diesel or Isuzu ?
Detroit Diesel designed the architecture back in 1982
i've watched so many videos and appreciate all of them but i have a question. what is mike's favorite chewing gum?
He likes them all!
What does OBS stand for?
Old Body Style
I can't find a second video. Can anyone confirm of this is only a 1 part or something
It’s the only one but the second one is coming! Hang tight
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS - Oh good. I watched this one and couldn't find another video. Thought maybe the truck had an early death.
Makes me miss driving around my 95 6.5 TD Z71😭 sadly the diesel motor is getting thrown in a 97 dually
Yeah, we've got to get going on this one!
@@UNITEDBYTRUCKS would be awesome !! Definitely not enough quality 6.5 content on here hopefully you guys can change that 👍
straight axle swap the front of it ifs doesnt last offroad period .thanks
