  • Fourth of July weekend, what do we do? A one-night overnighter on the Virginia Creeper Trail! We chose to ride downhill day 1 and uphill the next. Rather than show you the same trail twice, this video shows day 2's journey from Abingdon to Whitetop.
    ** NOTE - yes, this is a repost of my earlier video. I had to remix it when the musical artist decided their "no copyright" license changed. I needed to remove their soundtrack **
    What's to see?
    * Rolling farmland
    * Bucolic valleys
    * Railroad trestles
    * Running water
    * Mountain vistas
    * Oh, and me singing, "Time of my Life"

      It's a little out of the way but it's a good trail. about 35 miles end to end, so either a long day ride round trip or a ride uphill to camp at the terminus and a ride back the next day.

      @@AdventuresWithPaul I'm gonna ride this at some point. I'm always seeking longer bike trails. Right now I'm riding Overseas Heritage Trail in Florida Keys. Thanks

    Ive been on The Creeper many times, but have never done the entire route. Someday soon, hopefully.

      It's a good 2-day trip. We chose downhill day 1 (so that we could stay at a motel in Abingdon) and uphill day 2. If I did it solo I would have done the opposite and camped at the top. Cheers!

    I had a bit of Deja-vous watching this, then I read the narrative. So because some musician has a change of mind you have to re-do it, how painful. Good job anyway, Lednar from Cycleblaze

      I figured I would add the note since people may think, "wait a tic...haven't I seen this before?" And you're right - it's MOSTLY the same. I did add an intro and different music but otherwise it's the same. And regarding the music, I was able to strip the sound from the video, but that left the video silent in certain parts where the original music was the background. So I figured I would re-mix it with different music. I don't mind musicians charging for their product - it was just annoying that after several months they decided they wanted to charge for it instead. So I found something different, deleted the original video, and uploaded this.

    CZcams did an "edit" few weeks ago and what i thought was 'no copyright' music now show copyright on several videos. Most i dont have original footage saved anylonger. So no worries, 3 things could happen depending on the artist decision. CZcams might only flag the video so that if the video becomes monetized (1000+ subscribers which wont happen for me), mute the song in question, or remove the video all together. Also youtube might inactivate the account if continue to add copyright music.

      Thanks for the info. While I don't know if I'll ever be monetized I do like to make the videos and share my experience with others who enjoy the same activities I do. I also like to look back on them during rainy days when I can't go outside. If I do ever get monetized, I have no problem reaching out to the artist and paying them something so that I can have their work on the video. It was just a "copyright-free" music site changed their contract or as you state, CZcams changed it's business rules as to which music qualified and didn't qualify. I still had the original footage so I could remix it - when I first removed it there were a lot of sections which had the video silent because the music played in the background. Stripping the music out took out the "copyright flag" but made the video much poorer quality watching silent footage of a ride interspersed with shots of me talking.
