Over the last years I moved into a mostly hardware music setup, while still recording into, mixing, and mastering in Ableton. The settings being used can be translated over to hardware. Your videos have had a profound impact on how impact on how i'm sequencing and designing my sound.

Zen, I've been into house, techno, electronic music for almost 40 years. I've been playing with ableton for a couple few years. Got shitloads of unfinished music that I'm never 100% happy with. One day man, I want to make a classic.

Don't know if you'll see this Zen, but I had a question regarding sidechaining sub to drums. I noticed you and certain other producers don't fully sidechain the sub bass to where it becomes fully quiet when the sub portion of the kick is playing. Is this completely fine and there's no phase issues by doing it? I'm just curious because I'm wondering if I'm overthinking sidechain and all 😅.

I think its fine but Modern Techno has more sub frequencies and this loop idea doesnt sound round and have enough bass. I mean the idea is ok but the lowend has a lot more complexity in my opinion it needs more layering.
I feel you on this. Without throwing to much hate Zens way cause he is very good for the scene and upcoming producers, I feel these videos are deceiving because they lack depth. Ppl need to be aware of those who are trying to sell packs and those who are actually teaching the fundamentals and techniques used to achieve a real master ready track.
