    Really like your pon reviews. I transferred my anthuriums and alocasia to pon about a month ago and they’re all doing great. I transferred a Phil verracosum today and am keeping my fingers crossed. I’m thinking I’ll let the reservoir go dry for awhile before I fill it up about half way. I would love to see more videos on your pon plants and their progress.

      I also just transferred a bigger verrucosum to pon. It looks a bit shocked and is hanging. I'm crossing my fingers that it'll recover after a few more days. I transferred a tiny one with almost no roots into pon a few months ago and it not only encouraged a ton of root growth very quickly but it's been living its best life in there, so I'm hopeful.

    Great video!! My anthuriums root system is amazing in leca but I struggle with leaf damage in leca, I am hoping they’ll love lechuza more!

    I've been using lechuza pon for hoya, philodendron and begonia. And so far, they've been doing better than my other plants in soil. My only problem plant is alocasia. I need to move my anthurium to pon because it's struggling. Thanks for sharing your experience!

      I haven’t fertilized yet since I don’t use fertilizer out of growth season. I will probably start in may using a liquid fertilizer diluted in water. I will be using Liquid Gold Leaf, i think it is a european brand 🙈

    I have a lot of aeroids in pon but not in self-watering pots. I just water them normally from above on the same schedule as before and they're quite happy. I'd also love a solution for when I travel, but it's clear not all plants really like self-watering pots unfortunately.

    and a big question for me: what kind of rope is it that originally lechuza pots use for self passive water sucking? i used regular polyester rope for my DIY ones but i am not sure it works that well..

    • @italktomyplants
      @italktomyplants  Před 3 lety +1

      They do use just simple polyester rope. But I know other collectioners who uses semihydroponics go for felt sometimes. Just be careful it is not an organic material and a syntetic one instead because in the long term, organic material dissolves. ☺️

    Such an informative review using the lechuza self watering pots together with pons in it entirely for Anthuriums. Could you advise when you were transferring your Queen Anthurium anrrow form and Crystallinum x forgetii did you wash off all the soil before you pot it into the lechuza substrate? Also, did you fill the reservoir to the maximum mark or only partially filled so as to leave a larger air space between the bottom of the insert pot and the water level?
    Thanks!

    • @italktomyplants
      @italktomyplants  Před 3 lety

      Hi! I wash off the pon because there is lots of dust in it somehow. But recently I started to put them in the pot and fill it with pon, then bring the pot to the bathroom and let water run through untill it is clear to wash the pon. This way it is easier then washing it beforehand!
      When I transfer plants to pon, the first two weeks I do not use the water reservoir, I just water them like I normally water any other plants, I just keep the substrate moist and I treat it like I treat aroid substrate. This way i give the plant some time to acclimate to semi hydroponics. After two weeks I start using the reservoir up to the half full mark. That is more than enough for me, as it keep for 2-3 weeks easily. Then i change the water to with fresh water. But if i were to leave for a holiday in summer, for more than 2 weeks, i would fill it to the maximum point.
      I hope this was helpful!
      xx

    Good to see some proofs of the L Pon. Do you really not water your plants until the water indicator states the minimum water level? I am still concerning if L pon keeps no enough water for the plants. please advice

    Oh! Wish you could send me a big tub of Lechuza! Can't find it in USA right now!😭 Have been making my own but without the fertilizer. Don't know what they use in their pon. I do know it only last about 3 months, if I got that right.💜

    • @italktomyplants
      @italktomyplants  Před 3 lety +1

      I know some people use leca or seramis with semihydroponics. (Seramis could be another European brand equivelant to pon.)
      My mum uses a mix she makes herself using perlite and vermiculite, i don’t know the ratio but it could be a starting point if you’d like to do some research.
      Slow release fertilizer in pon lasts 6 months according to lechuza but you can always use additionsl liquid fertilizers.
      I hope this helps ☺️
