Wow, just WOW! Amazing dedication and work..... Sawyer, a sawer from ancient times!
This was quite a build to watch!! Thanks for the video. I did notice your bench being loaded in the back of a pick-up truck. Did you happen to sell this bench & if you did, did you deliver it as well?? See ya & Merry Christmas!! 🎄🎁 🎅🎄
I'm more partial to popsicle top workbench.
Is not only a workbench, it is also a piece of art.
True craftsmanship!
PIZZA fart
I love how you somehow doubt your abilities as a woodworker, yet you're out here building some of the most beautiful and complicated builds on any channel on this platform. You're out here killing it!! Keep up the awesome work. Love it!
Thanks Josh! It’s been a weird thing to be working completely out of my comfort zone with an audience. Appreciate the kind words!
Sometimes challenging oneself to overcome obstacles and learn new skills is as fun as the accomplishment.
@@SawyerDesign I’m working in my comfort zone without an audience and I screw up more than I succeed
@@terristroh3965 I feel ya ... lol
I showed this incredible workbench to my wife and she said it would make an amazing dining table! Oh, the humanity! The love and respect for the 500 year old tree, that is so apparent in this phenomenonal build transcendences traditional workmanship. You are a wood working god.
The only problem with this as a work bench is that it looks so amazing I’d be afraid of ruining it. You did a damn good job on this.
Повністю відповідає моїй думці.
Agreed!! It's a stunning work of art!
You are an oasis in a desert of woodworking on CZcams. I have been Jonesing waiting for you to post something new. You are one of a very few creative woodworkers on the channel worth watching. You are definitely museum worthy. Keep it up and you will be one of very few worth remembering.
Thanks so much Rick!
Agreed 100%. CZcams is full of hipsters that have been fooled into believing they're "woodworkers" by an algorithm. This channel is actual woodworking. No pocket holes, no corners cut, no hiding errors with trim, etc. It is great to have another quality channel to look forward to learning from, because there aren't many left!
ps- I prefer the solid top as well.
Always shocked there's not a million subscribers to this channel, I don't even do woodwork and it's in my top 5. Thanks for the great content and videos
Thanks so much!
Most people use a workbench to make a masterpiece but you made a masterpiece out of the workbench.
I am a primarily hand tool woodworker - no power tools. I like basic, minimalist design with clean, straight lines and properly hand-cut joinery with no metal fasteners. I hate router roundover edges, unnecessary curves and racing stripes made out of contrasting woods. I think wagon vises are inferior to traditional tail vises and will never understand people who run a router with a chamfer bit in their workbenches' dog holes. HOWEVER...
This design just blew my mind. I've watched the video three times since you posted it a few days ago and I can only say I am in awe of your skills, both in design and craftsmanship. The way the arched legs get thinner at the top of the arch is just such an elegant detail - which is hard to admit for someone who hates curves! Truly elegant design and perfect execution. I'm not about to go out and buy a pantorouter just yet, but I really want to thank you for showing this old fart some new perspective. I would be proud to work on this bench - even if it looked wildly out of place in my shop.
Have you considered adding some dog holes on the front legs to help support longer boards, panels, doors, etc. to work on their edges? I have a sliding deadman on my (tradtional) Roubo workbench that gets a ton of use, but I think some well positioned dog holes along the right side of the arch would probably get you most of the functionality of a deadman - and the asymmetrically placed holes on just the right side of the arch would look sick in this design.
Anyways, thanks again for the video. Truly inspiring stuff.
P.S. - You made the right decision in going with the solid top. Split tops are just silly.
I absolutely love this. Thank you for giving it a chance. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate that and thank you for the kind words.
Definitely think some dog holes or perhaps a hook that works in the dog strip to support long boards is in order. I decided that should be done as needed as it’s not something I have needed to do a ton and I didn’t want to drill the wrong hole.
This comment really made me smile. Thanks again for taking the time. Take care
5.5 minutes in, and I am already blown away once again not just by your creativity (which is in itself mindblowing) but the level of skill you bring. Top that off with pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone, and it is no wonder I eagerly await new content from you.
Thank you so much!! No progress unless it’s a little uncomfortable.
@@SawyerDesign So true. If we aren't failing, we aren't trying enough.
I love how the things you make aren't simple straight lines etc. They're not simple, you put real thought into what you design & put huge effort into doing it well. Def one of the best workworking channels on YT imo!
The only thing more sexy than watching a man working (literal) wood, designing and building extraordinarily beautiful creative and useful products and that is watching the same guy surf ! Amazing!!! Loved the techno phantom of the opera music around 18 minutes in. I don’t typically comment or subscribe (big deal, right?!) but this vid warranted it.
Такой верстак достоин передачи по наследству несколькими поколениями!!!!!!
Beyond amazing!
Beautiful, elaborate, precise, functional...and did I say..BEAUTIFUL!!!!
You sure are talented!
Too kind! Thanks So much, Andrea!
Insane dude. That bench is un-re-al. Not only the workbench, but the video itself is world class.
This is not only a work bench it's a dining room table and piece of artwork as well. Ironically its much to beautiful to be a work bench. It's more of a look at and admire bench.
MAGNIFICENT!!!! aesthetics and funtionality.
That’s unbelievable, you set the bar at an entirely new level with every one of your builds!!!
Absolutely beautiful.
I prefer the solid top as well. The opening in the split-top is just a catch-all for all the dust, chips, and that one tool you can't seem to locate.
You did that old growth proud!
ABOUT ALL I CAN SAY IS I LOVE THIS BENCH. LIKED AND SUBSCRIBED TO YOUR CHANNEL.CAUSE IF YOUR BENCH LOOKS LIKE THIS, I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHATS NEXT. 😮
Not much can be said apart from what has been already. It is, of course, a unique perspective on a woodworking necessity and masterfully executed. It's my hope for you that your creation be added to the annals of woodworking history. Perhaps your bench design can come to be known with as much regard as Roubo's. Well done, sir.
Absolutely the best looking bench I have ever seen. You sir are a master.
Oh my god!
One word: AWESOME!!!
Gerard
Thanks Gerard!
What a beautiful finish - to the arc of that trees' life....
Man, that is badass. The structural engineer in me approves the use of arches wherever possible. Beautiful work, brother.
Yeah bring art nouveau back.. that workbench looks like an elven workbench in the Lord of the Rings fantasy world, I just love elven architecture because it's art nouveau..
I have been waiting for this!!! So excited to see this come together. Great execution sir!
Hopefully worth the wait! Thanks Scott
@@SawyerDesign It certainly was! Thank you.
I see a stunning bench like this and I picture Franc Clause working on it 😎
this is the best table i have ever seen. I want this in my Kitchen and in my workshop 😁
Caramba, o nível de perfeição é absurdo!
Split Top Sawyer!
Let’s Go!! 🔥🔥🔥
And, you also get credit for the great video editing and soundtracks lol had me doing the Split Top Sawyer Dance at the end😂 or…. What I’m considering the dance.
What a GREAT peace of design that works! I love it!
Greets from good ol Germany
Just do you, don’t ever care what people might think. It’s not built for them.
BEAUTIFUL , ITS A WORK OF ART, TO NICE TO USE THAT IS A REAL SHOW PIECE
Sweet baby jeebus... that is AMAZING... your level of creativity and skillsets are insane my friend .RESPECT.
You Sir are the Artist of Function. You just happen to work in wood. I continue to be awestruck by every creation. Thank you for sharing your magic.
One of the best things I've ever seen
that is flat-smooth spectacular. outSTANDing. thank you.
The Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer would've liked this one ! Fabulous design and craftmanship. ThX for sharing.
What a wonderful tribute to so ancient a tree.
Damn. I’d put that in my living room. You aced it. Masterful.
Thanks so much Robert!
Making us all drool with all 10 of your fingers, as usual!!
First 10 seconds got me so excited. This build is stupid good.
Plans? Well skills aside, it takes a mad man to build this.
Still accually in disbelief, how stunning this is.
Thanks Borys!! Haha there’s gotta be other crazy people out there. You already know I’m a little nuts.
AWESOME!!! or - a piece of art that is more than a workbench
Saw this on Reddit, so nice to see the build!
I love the way how your ads come into view as a PiP (Pic in Pic); frankly that's the first time I remembered the name of the company in that ad as it's unobstrusive and less irritating compared to the other standard ads you see on other CZcams channels! Keep up the good "wood"-working! That Roubo Workbench belongs in an art museum!
A truly work of love and more so it’s a functional work bench that’s is a sweet art piece
I don’t fuss with my shop furniture too much but, I’m glad there are people like you who do.
gorgeous design, fantastic craftsmanship, be proud my friend
Goodness that is beautiful!
Nothing short of bad ass!! Great video.
I skim watch everything on CZcams, even short videos. This I watched from beginning to end. Genius
Wow wow wow. Yes sir!
Jesus… in a world where CZcams is bursting at the seams with workbench build vids, this is one of the dews videos that genuinely stands apart.. and from my perspective, that might be one of the most difficult accomplishments for a woodworker using the platform..
Much respect and blessings from Maui, gonna try to keep a closer eye on posts this channel uploads
This morning, I saw that there was a new video........."oh great, I'll look at it tonight, it will be my reward of the day".....soooo, I looked at it this evening. As usual, blown away!
So glad it was worth the treat. Thanks Richard!
Wow!! Just WOW!!
One workbench to rule them all.
ROFLMAO when I saw half of your fingers covered in bandages! Nice! I can relate to that.
Absolutely SWEET.
That tree is in tree heaven singing your praises to the assembled forest.
That's A LOT of great work.but this everlasting pice is definitely worth it.congratulations👍
I want that in my kitchen not my workshop. Just stunning.
This bench is insane! 🤩 But what’s even crazier is the time it probably took to film/ edit!! 🤯 Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼🙌🏻
Dude that’s way to nice to hammer on !!!
I would keep that in the living room. Nice work
That is the most. Beautiful workmanship I have ever seen. Than you for showing.
Outstanding job. You are a Craftsman for sure.
Thanks so much!
Excellent work yet again.
Better than the original version! Nicely done!!
Stunning! Really love the design. Especially the reveal between the arch and the benchtop; that gives it the balance it needs.
The words "it’s just shop furniture" shall never be uttered on this channel.
Haha never!
1750 Roubo workbench
2022 Sawyer workbench
The most beautiful bench ever seen in the modern era.
Greetings from Italy
Ok come on man, that thing looks too good to be a shop bench. Fantastic craftsmanship. You turned a 600 year old beautiful wood into a work of art.
Dude, another banger, absolutely gorgeous, and the 500 year old lumber: *chef’s kiss*
😙🤌
As a US veteran suffering from PTSD and trauma from life’s ups n downs, I found woodworking as a way to cope and balance out life’s pressures. I find it quite relaxing, rewarding, satisfying, and sometimes complicated lol I love the masterpiece you’ve built. I would love to have the toys in your shop too. I love learning the various techniques and technologies used in woodworking. Great job my friend, a fan from MT
OMG that is SO beautiful!
As a Pacific N.W. native, I love that you used Doug Fir. Absolutely the coolest workbench that I have ever seen.
Thanks so much! Glad you liked it
That is amazingly fantastic! Beast Mode Mad Skills!
Wow... just fab!!!
Wow! What a piece. This turned out really beautiful. It has such a presence. Love that fine old pine too! Keep up the great work.
Great design and carry through.
Cool way to think outside the box I love it
Amazing work, i have to watch it again
What a beauty!
This workbench is off chops mate!! Blown away by the intricacy of the design, the execution & the editing/videography. Hats off to you
Your woodworking skills are absolutely amazing, your fearless creativity in design is truly unsurpassed. Thank you for sharing your creations with us!
Incredible amount of work in this amazing build...WOW !
I've been looking forward to this build video for awhile. Did. Not. Disappoint. The bench and the video are works of art. Your filmmaking and editing have really evolved as well. Thanks for more inspiration.
Such a lovely workbench, this is art at its finest! I do some woodworking myself so I truly understand what type of craftsmanship this is. Please keep up with these stunning builds!
Just crazy built...................love it
The precision and design was Top-Notch!
What a beautiful bench!
Complete insanity. The way the wood gradients from light to dark and the tiniest of details im nothing but amazed. Applause from Sweden and thank you so much for this, best 24 minutes spent on youtube ever.
Thanks so much Alexander! I appreciate your appreciation of the small stuff!
I must admit, that is the prettiest workbench I've ever seen. Very nice! I am about to pull the trigger on my new workshop build and now I know one of the first shop-built tools. Thanks!
Doug fir and mahog (?) nice combo. I love working with doug fir. Lovely build. Amazed how you captured so much of it on camera. Even your struggles to stand the beast up.
Thanks Thom!
Bravo! That is stunning!
That thing is beautiful.
wow I'm amazed by this masterpiece, congratulations it's beautiful
WoW.. useful art. Beautifully done.
Insane built and great work as always! Beautiful workbench
