Long-Distance Bikepacking Setup (Detailed Walkthrough)

- Hi friends! In this video, I run through a VERY detailed packing list and talk about everything I've learned about packing during a long-distance bikepacking trip from Canada to Mexico
I use a hybrid setup that combines most aspects of bikepacking but with the rear rack seen in bicycle touring. This gives me more capacity and convenience than a typical bikepacking setup, but it's still lighter and more capable off road than a traditional rack and pannier setup. Adding small rear panniers would be easy and a good way to add capacity if needed

It's nice to see someone not making a big deal about spending big bucks on all of the fanciest gear, starting with your perfectly fine hundred-dollar used bike!
😁😁
dude brah that's my tag!
Seriously great idea with the Toaks holding your Nalgene to save space. Really smart layout overall.
I feel a little better about how much crap I haul around on trips knowing you did 2.2k miles on that bike!
Hahaha thanks for watching! Glad it was helpful
Very impressive! Organizing the bundles, planning for future needs and the unexpected, and enjoying the ride. Love your treasure finds along the way🌈
Glad you enjoyed :)
Awesome video, I'm setting up my bike for a 6 month trip so this was definitely helpful
Awesome! Good luck!
lol love that you were so casual about fending off a racoon attack
Ahahahaha 😁
VERY COOL
Thanks!
Hey Avery. Love your content! What are your thoughts on the S5 versus the fuji xt3? I own an xt3 and use it for filming, primarily bikepacking, skiing and hiking. I really like the video quality, but i am very frustrated with the lack of IBIS on the xt3. would you say that the S5 is a big upgrade from the XT3 for video, and if yes, why? Best regards from Denmark :D
Hey! Thanks for watching! The s5 is 100% an upgrade, for me though the lenses got to be so big that the size was an issue. The body is a similar size, but the Fuji lenses are tiny! Probably just depends on your priorities, I’ve just ordered an 18-55 is lens to have stabilization and still really small
I have a fake leatherman in my bike also. You can't have to many small bags on the bike.
haha awesome! Thanks for watching
Good job making San Diego 👏 which way now⬆️↗️➡️↘️↪️

Hahaha exactly!

What?
@@AveryCaudill what was that vegy thing for soup? Is that vegan stuff? Because i don't eat vegan stuff. It is bad for the muscles, brain and bones.
@@emiel1976ep it was just powdered vegetable stock
