  • In this video I share a step by step guide on how to build the ultimate pea and bean trellis.
This trellis is perfect for raised beds or in ground gardens. It can be built to any size and to accommodate a wide range of vegetable plants like tomatoes and cucumbers as well. My favorite part of the trellis is that it is foldable so it can be moved to grow different plants, but it can also be folded flat for easy storage. I built my trellis completely out of free scrap wood that I got from a local cabinet shop.

Nice design! Thank you for sharing! I bet you could save some time on adding the string by just weaving through a single, long piece of string for each side (zig zag pattern) instead of tying off a new string for each vertical pass.

Love this plan... Would the tedium of the strings have been better if you sacrificed a little extra string and laced it as one long run? Or would that perhaps cause some sort of binding issue?

I actually tried that first and it ended up taking even longer because I had to feed the slack through every previous hole first. After like 2 or 3 holes, the friction just got to be too strong for it to glide properly. Good idea, just didn’t work with these materials!

Looks very replicatable and I am definitely going to try it in my 1st garden this year. Do you have updates on how well it works?

Hey Caleb, love your build here. I'm in the early stages of loading a video and thought I should Ask if I could use your trellis design for a video and thumbnail for my channel. Please let me know if you would rather pass and I will take it down. Thank you Chuck Beavers
