Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy is a minimally invasive technique that has practically made open surgery extinct, is the opinion of Dr Kedar Patil. It avoids the major cuts, discomfort, long recovery period and scars of open cholecystectomy. Gall Bladder Removal Surgery using Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy ensure that the Gallstones are safely and completely removed and the pain associated with the gallstones attack is a thing of the past.
Why is it that the entire gall bladder removal surgery is performed? why not a surgery for gallstones removal from the bladder?
The reason that the entire gall bladder is surgically removed is that the stones are being produced within the gall bladder itself. Once this process of gall stones production commences, it cannot be stopped. Therefore it is better to surgically remove the gall bladder. If the stones migrate out of the gall bladder, they may obstruct the common bile duct. In this case a procedure called ERCP needs to be performed to remove them and clear the opening of the common bile duct.
