      Yeah I'm totally in the same situation, I'm 18 now and always waited for my breasts being a round shape and with 'normal' nipples which never happened, I guess a year ago I found out about tuberous breasts and it was a relieve to know I'm not alone. I hope I can afford a surgery some day (although I'm kinda afraid of complications tho)

    Some people argue that tuberous breasts look fine, and are not deformed. Although I like that they see it that way, it is an extremely difficult thing for a woman to go through. There are no bras that will fit properly, nor will dressed for that matter, breast feeding is not an option, and it can be extremely uncomfortable with skin touching skin.

      Hi girlies. I also have tuberous breasts, and was always extremely self conscious. I'm 23 and this is the first time in my life I could afford to get this surgery done, luckily I have a good job. Mine were not as severe as this woman's (mine didn't really sag like that and my nipples werent quite as puffy, but I had close to no underboob like her). As for the changing room thing, yeah I got changed in the damn bathroom stalls with the door shut. As of now I'm about a month out from my surgery. I had 330 cc, high profile Sientra implants inserted in both breasts, through my inframammary fold (under the breasts), under the muscle. I also had fat from my lower back injected into my breasts at three different locations on each, one on the lower sides of each breast, one on the tops, and one in the inner portions of my breasts near my sternum. The fat has finally given me side boob and cleavage, I've never had either even remotely. The implants have given me a roundness I didn't think was even possible.. I see the implants dropping down and filling my lower pole more each week. This was my biggest concern, I wanted lower pole volume because I had close to none. My surgeon told me during my consult that he thinks an implant alone would have given me a nice shape but I could do the fat transfer as well if I wanted more cleavage and side boob. So of course I chose that too. Right after surgery, the lower poles were completely empty and almost hollow, because the implants were so high up on my chest. But as the weeks pass, I can see the implants dropping and my breasts are taking on a very nice shape. One thing that bothers me is that my right breast is taking longer to fill out the lower pole and drop, and it's still quite swollen on the top part of my breast.. but I can see that it's made great improvement already and continues to do so. Another thing is that my nipples are still puffy, which I didn't get 'corrected', but now that my breasts are larger and more round,my puffy nipples do not look nearly as strange and out of place. Before, I was like all nipple and no breast so now it's definitely not the case any more. My surgeon is pleased with my result but the final result will not be apparent for another few months.

      Don't let plastic surgeons define you, after all they always look for our insecurities to make money out of it, tuberous breasts aren't deformity, vags and boobs come in all sort of shapes and forms, as far as it doesn't effect you physical pain then it shouldn't be viewed as an illness or problem, only from a beauty standards point you can let it hurt you, I have the similar issue, good thing is you can change the shape if you want to by surgery but you're beautiful in your own way, most people don't care what type of boobs you have. My bf thinks my breasts are beautiful but since I found out there is a name for my boobs, it did make me feel like a freak thanks to Google and beauty marketing.

      Always ask for pictures and specifically pictures of breasts similar to yours! If they don't have many, chances are they're not knowledgeable. Also don't always trust the internet, some docs pay to be featured 'best doc' and remove negative reviews.

    • @barrettplasticsurgery
      @barrettplasticsurgery  Před 3 lety +2

      Tuberous breasts are not simply small or underdeveloped breasts. The appearance of the breast can range from mild to severe, and typical traits include: enlarged, puffy areola, rather wide spacing between the breasts, very little breast tissue, sagging, higher than normal inferior breast fold, and narrow base at the chest wall.
      The type of surgery best for you will depend on the severity of your condition.
      My preferred technique for tuberous breast correction involves a multistep procedure where the breast tissue is released in a radial pattern to prevent herniation into the areola and placement of a custom implant size is in the breast to allow appropriate expansion of the breast in the restricted dimensions. This can often be done in a single procedure but sometimes may require two surgeries.

    • @barrettplasticsurgery
      @barrettplasticsurgery  Před 3 lety +2

      The two main types of implants are silicone and saline. The shell of the implants can be either textured (which reduces capsular contracture) or smooth. A textured implant sometimes requires a larger incision. The shape of the implant can be either round or tear drop shaped (gummy bear). Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The different types of implant offer different pros and cons. For instance, the pros of silicone implants are that they look and feel more natural and ripple less. On the other hand, the pros of saline implants are that they do not require as large of an incision as silicone, less expensive, they have less incidence of capsular contracture (scarring around the implant), one can tell immediately if there is a rupture, the size can be slightly adjusted, and they can be used for women less than 22 years of age.

      Tuberous breasts can rarely be corrected without implants or at least a small one. The breast needs to be scored radially from the inside to expand it. If you don't place an implant behind the radial scoring it will fall back to its original state. You could theoretically remove the implant at a later day and graft with fat but that would be a separate surgery. Feel free to contact our office for more information.

    • @barrettplasticsurgery
      @barrettplasticsurgery  Před 3 lety +1

      Breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient.
      When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.
      Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.
      Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.
      You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

      That said, it is best that you visit a board-certified plastic surgeon for an in person examination. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Boyfriend of ten years didn't even complain about my tuberous breast but is now the happiest man on earth😂 it changed our whole intimacy...
