Incredibly impressed with this style of Black Belt testing. This gave me hope in traditional martial arts. In my opinion pretty good basic above average realistic training scenarios. Very taxing on the cardio system, I love how they handled multiple opponents. I also like the that even though the testing is hard that the training is as safe as it can get. There could be so many times that a strike could go awry. I like the carefulness of both the attackers and testing students. I was especially impressed with the tall lady ( FANTASTIC!!!) and the gentleman with the top knot. Both flowing into different techniques and adapting when a technique didnt go as planned. Wish they had this here in Germany. Last but not least everyone really , really earned their belts. That was grueling just adapting and having to recollect techniques.

The remark you made about realism coupled with safety is EXACTLY what we aim for. It isn't always an easy balance but it is one that is embedded in our system by our founder (and my sensei), Shihan Arel. The goal was to always have a training system that produced strong and practical skills for realistic self-defense while ensuring, in his words, that "everyone can go to school or work the next day" after practice.
