@@KayleighRoseEvans I got onto the course!!
@@Mara.Isabelle amazing news !!!!!!
I have a social work degree interview coming up so thanks for sharing this video.
I like the idea behind sharing personal life experience that motivated me to pursue this role, however I feel very uncomfortable sharing my past difficulties as a young person and my family life.
These experiences certainly shaped the values I have today that are in line with that of social work, I just can't see myself sharing that effectively in an interview sadly.
Hi I hope you do well in your interview. I don't think you need to go into detail at all and should never say what you don't feel comfortable with. But saying that you have faced some challenging life experiences which motivates you to help others would be enough I feel!
@@KayleighRoseEvans thank you, and thanks for getting back to me Kayleigh.
I am going to take the interview tomorrow, it is going to be recorded through Modern Hire.
Trying to find the right balance between excited and nervous currently.
Just hope that I put myself across well enough.
@@SGC90-t5y Hi just remember to breath and have water with you (I know that's simple but it buys you brain space). I often have a pen and blank sheet of paper with me and jot down if they ask a two part question, bullet points of what they ask so I don't forget the question and go on a tangent (although I know that might not work for everyone!)
The main thing is to show your passion and that you are open-minded, open to learning and genuinely care about bettering the lives of others.
Hope you get some rest ahead of it. Good luck 🤞.
Thank you so so much for this! My interview is literally tomorrow and coincidentally as my first interview it’s my first choice 😭
I wish you the best of luck ☺️☺️

"Advice for men getting onto a Social Work Course" - ask yourself why so few men choose social work as a career.
I was listening to your channel while doing some painting in my house and had to stop. While I myself align with your sentiments, politically speaking, you do realize that alienating individuals that may not align perfectly with your political views is a disservice towards the SW profession right? I know plenty of people on the other side of the aisle who are equally in need of therapy, treatment, and care. A social worker should be tolerant and neutral. You can conquer ignorance with leadership and love, not judgementalism and cancel culture 🤦♀️ There is a great need for people in this profession who are willing to care about everyone, not just those that mesh with our own ideologies. You: "We need to be anti-discriminatory, anti-racist" Also you: "Let's 'other' massive segments of the population who might to us for help. Yikes.
Thank you so much for this advice. I have my social work Masters interview in the morning. I have a presentation to present so a little nervous but fingers crossed :-)
Hey pleased you found it helpful. 😁 Oohh hope it goes well. 👍
Thank you so much. I was offered a conditional place today so happy! Just need to get a great grade now in my degree this year
