I love Eiffel 65. Got all their albums including the few that they came out with when they called themselves Bloom 06. Glad they changed it back to their original name. The “da ba dee” part, they say, is just something they liked so they put it in a song. They originally planned their name to be simply “Eiffel”. The 65 part was added by accident. From what they say, it was the last two digits of someone’s phone number that somehow got attached to their name when they went to have their name...I guess finalized.

We used to joke on the dancefloor that they were singing, "I'm blue, I'm in need of a guy!" Lol. Blue, because he's sad.
It was all about dancing in the 90s and we'd dance until we were all exhausted. "Blue," Eiffel 65, "Come Out and Play," The Offspring, "December," Collective Soul, "Gel" by Collective Soul, "Tub Thumpthing," Chumbawumba, "Song 2," Blur, "Everybody Dance Now," C+C Music Factory, "What is Love?" Haddaway, "Smells Like Teen Spirit," Nirvana, "Ballroom Blitz," Sweet, "Mr. Vain," Culture Club, "Tribal Dance," 2 Unlimited, "Hard to Handle" The Black Crowes, "Thunderstruck," AC/DC, "Blow at High Dough," "New Orleans is Sinking," & "Little Bones," The Tragically Hip, "The Twilight Zone," 2 Unlimited, just those for a start and we'd be ready to pass out!! Talk about a good time.

He's basically saying he's depressed (blue) and no-one listens. Everything in his life is blue because it's all affected by his depression. He literally starts the song with "Yo listen" but because the lyrics are set to upbeat music of course most people don't actually "listen" to the lyrics, just the happy music, kinda like how people with depression try to hide it from others with a seemingly happy demeanour....
The original video also featured a blue alien trying to fit in with the rest of the world....which is how people with depression can feel in life.
It's quite clever really and it's actually quite deep for euro pop.
