  • Let's all hang out and get an old lawn mower ready for spring! I'm doing a basic tune up of a ‪@toro‬ 22" Recycler lawn mower. The video covers an oil change, spark plug replacement, adding a fuel shut-off valve, carburetor and carbon build-up clean with SeaFoam, and sharpening the blade. Let's relax and do some quarantine DIY projects together. Stay tuned for videos coming soon including #TheOldDodge, #CamoJoe minibike build videos, and more!
CORRECTION! This Toro does have a drain plug for the oil! Thanks TK Skagen for pointing that out.
Here are a few of the items I used in the video (paid links):
    SeaFoam Motor Treatment: amzn.to/39yzA0h
    Toro Air Filter: amzn.to/33UQNzv
    Fuel Shutoff Valve: amzn.to/3bBk4SI
    Oil Extractor: amzn.to/3atRSAW
    Toro Spark Plug: amzn.to/2QUjhEo
    Copper Anti-Seize: amzn.to/2WRcWgF
Angle Grinder (many cheaper options than this): amzn.to/3bBjEM1

I've always added 1-2oz in the oil foe 5 minutes to clean the varnish and deposits from the Crankcase before draining the Oil. WORKS REALLY GOOD!
Drainplug is a 3/8" Square (extension required) under the deck!
    Take care,

You’re right! I’m mad at myself I missed that. I’m used to Honda’s that don’t have a drain plug. You’re comment is pinned. :-)

Jason: Torque the bolt to required specs of the manufacturer.
Also Jason: That feels good, sweet. 😉

My friend... when cleaning outdoor tools you should try using silicone spray. 100 percent game changer, provides UV protection to plastic parts, makes much easier for future cleaning, and makes everything look new. I can’t tell you how many people come in my garage and think I have all brand new yard tools when really it was a 3-4 dollar can of silicone spray.

Can be used on plastic and metal, just not metal that gets hot. Also silicone spray does not replace grease as General rule of thumb.

I'll have to try that. Thanks!

Great video! Keep them coming! A lot of times push mower drain plugs are above the blade under the “deck”. Although tipping them on their sides works well too!😊👍 Keep up the great work man.
Edit: upon further inspection you can see the plug when you remove the blade to sharpen it.

I would of went with an NGK or Denso spark plug. I’ve had nothing but trouble with AutoLite and Champion spark plugs.

Great job on the lawnmower service. Please wear a mask when sharpening blades. You do not want to be inhaling fine shards of metal.

Instead of thread locker, I would use a lock washer. Just my opinion.

Jason any tips on the Toro for adjusting the auto-drive cable, everytime I try to adjust it’s either not enough so no personal pace, then I tighten the cable and I gets this squeaking noise and the machines goes very fast, I can’t seem to find the set spot

Jason!!. Is that a bench seat for a ram d150 in the left corner in the video in your garage?

Yeah, that was the original bench for my 87 D150. I swapped it for a different one because it was in much better shape.

I’d wouldn’t have replaced the spark plug until after the sea foam motor treatment. You’re blowing old built up carbon on a brand new spark plug. Why would you want to do that? Foul out a new plug....
