Machu Picchu Hike: Incas Under Spanish Rule 🇵🇪

- ■ MACHU PICCHU, PERU: When the Spanish Conquistadores, with the backing of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V's imperial ambitions, ventured deep into the Andes mountains of modern day Peru, they ran into another imperial power; the Incas.
From a little tribe on the brink of extinction in their home territory Cusco just 90 years earlier, they'd struck back and carved out a massive territory for themselves and in the process subdued all opposing tribes in what is today Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Chile and even parts of Argentina.
Exactly how less than 200 Spaniards managed to subjugate the powerful Incas, that's a topic I cover in a separate video. I'm having some technical issues with a corrupted file though, so exactly when I'll be able to upload it is anyone's guess at the moment. So to not keep you all waiting I'm uploading this one first.
So who were the Incas? What was their society like? How did they fare under Spanish rule? I cover these and many other questions as I wander around what is to date the most unique world heritage site I've ever visited in person: Machu Picchu.
I've never felt the urge to throw a paper plane so bad in my life.
Wow it's more beautiful than I've ever seen on any T.V show
I totally agree. Beautiful video.
Harald, I'm heading here in 2 weeks and your history lesson just made it more interesting. Safe travels and keep it up, top class this.
I'm actually jealous you're going. It's gonna be fantastic. Better than any photo or video can convey
@Dennis Rodic well, less of a carbon footprint just staying put instead of going, if you're concerned about that aspect of travel.
Who else wants the vlogs to be longer? Harald you’re vlogs are the only ones I can watch all the way bro. Good content 👍😁
Yes longer videos Harald.
Have already asked you Harald...make them loooonnngggeerrr Please !
So glad he's made them longer.
Harald you are one the best youtubers so far 💪
I watched every Video. Keep it up ☺️
Greetings from Germany 🙂
Thanks man!
Probably the first human being to ever utter the term "muff diver" at Machu Picchu. That's our man, Harald!
Just the first on CZcams...there have been instances of people hiding so that they could sleep in the ruins overnight. Probably some muff diving goin' on then. Also there were people stripping naked to take pictures of themselves there...
Only Harald has such a progressive vocabulary!
69th thumbs up!
Pretty sure the correct term is "prolific baby makers"
Far too long.....No such thing. You're seriously my favorite CZcamsr, and have made consistent gems for quite some time now. Keep it up Haraldo Baldez
thanks man
Very true never get tired or bored with haralds vlogs very educational learn something new thanks to haraldo and his travels great and views 😮💙
Agreed, I could watch Haraldo for hours :)
Harold the PTSD is strong with you mistaking Jeffrey your buddy for his cousins. It's natural to mourn in this way....Burundi
WOW!!! It's so beautiful there....Harold i dont care if your videos are 2 hours long lol i will be glued it watching them....thank you for the history i appreciate all the hard work you put into making them....enjoy the beauty of it all
I totally agree with you Mary. His videos are so fascinating and interesting and educational. I wish they could be longer, but I cannot imagine the time and work that is involved for Harold to get them posted. But yes, even if they were two hours long, I would be glued to watching them also. :-)
This is the most beautiful video yet. It's stunning! Thanks for making these videos 💟
Cool stuff, agree
An absolutely insane amount of rock went into building that place and all 'Inca' sites. The walls are like your standard blocks but under the ground and the terraces you're walking on are feet upon feet of larger rocks at the bottom followed by layers of progressively smaller and smaller rocks just under the sand and soil. Within those layers too are like little channels to direct water to other places so it doesn't erode the soil. The engineering that went into building that thing is just insane.
You pretty much explained the history like an experience guide would. Mucho amazingo considering you took 1 week to learn all the history!!
Sadly the first 20 minutes of footage is lost. Would've made more sense with that included but have some people trying to repair the file now. Fingers crossed for it working
@@HaraldBaldr sending some Inka spit for good luck!
Harald todays video was so captivating that I had to watch it twice before committing. Well done!
I really like how you put the historical information in there, its just puts the cherry on top of a huge cake.
The Spanish conquest of Peru was one of the most important campaigns in the Spanish colonization of the Americas. After years of preliminary exploration and military skirmishes, 168 Spanish soldiers under conquistador Francisco Pizarro, his brothers, and their native alliescaptured the Sapa Inca Atahualpa in the 1532 Battle of Cajamarca. It was the first step in a long campaign that took decades of fighting but ended in Spanish victory in 1572 and colonization of the region as the Viceroyalty of Peru. The conquest of the Inca Empire (called "Tahuantinsuyu"[2] or "Tawantinsuyu"[3] in Quechua, meaning "Realm of the Four Parts"),[4] led to spin-off campaigns into present-day Chile and Colombia, as well as expeditions towards the Amazon Basin.
Interesting despite all their depredations and plunder of the New World the Spanish government still went bankrupt...twice.
Perfect timing for the uplaod, one day I hope to visit Machu Picchu. I visited Florence after watching your series and I loved it, even met the nice lady at Altobio in central market 👍
Amazing video! The filming and background history made me wish the video didn’t end so soon. Give us more like this please.

Hi Harald - your vlogs are never too long & we don't lose attention as they are always well edited & succinct.
If it's an interesting & varied place such as this, then you naturally take enough time to do it justice - as you 'progressively' did!
Super cool wide lens video Harald! Should get a million views plus on this one! That place is special and just think of those people thousands of years ago who made it so inspiring! Thanks Harald and keep the videos coming.

Stops walking 2 seconds later.
2019 : Photos = Selfies.
while he's filming a 30 minute selfie 🤣
love the vids bro
Hi, Harald! Thank you very much for your narration. I learned a lot about Machu Picchu, Incas and specially their emperor.
Damn this is good stuff!
Harald, you just saved this old guy all that huffing and puffing, climbing up there to show us Machu Picchu - and the at-least $500 to get there. Your history talk was gravy. Having watched tons of your VLOGs to all the fabulous world places, I've concluded the best parts of it all is "Harold," himself. Your choice of Italy as the planet's top spot is "spot" on - even though you make the best of the rest of them. Here's a salute to your realism and sincerity in everything you do.
Cheers William!
Go and visit, it will be the best $500 you will have ever spent. I went there in 2016, the whole journey from cusco - aguas calientes - machu picchu was an unforgettable experience. Watching on a display doesn't do it justice!
I love this. Thanks for showing us. This trip just got moved up on my list.
Allô Harald it's always pleasure being with you on these wonderful trips around the world, you always my day when I watch one of your videos. Merci beaucoup mon ami...:)
Cheers for watching
That is one BEAUTIFUL ❤️❣️❤️❣️😍 PLACE... your living my dream, thank you so much for sharing.... I would love to build my dream home up there.... it's just so amazing 😍❤️
SIMPLY AMAZING PLACE LOVE THE MOUNTAIN VIEWS AND THE SCENERY THANKS FOR THE JOURNEYS YOU TAKE ME ON YOUR A GREAT TOUR GUIDE KEEP IT UP.*****
Great vlog!
In the area that is supposed to close at 15:30 look at the difference in the precision cuts of the stone compared to stones earlier in video.
It is widely thought that these precisely cut stone structures are from another civilization that was pre-inca. In other places the stones used for building are enormous.
I'm happy to hear that you will be spending more time touring the area.
This is awesome content!
So awesome Harold thank you for doing the videos I feel like iam along with you .
Harald when you said that he had a high labedo and was massive muff diver I spat my tea out over my phone funny shit LMFAO😂😂😂 don't listen to the people who want you to be more serious that is your usp and a great one at that M8 keep up the great vids 👍
