Strict laws and a little educating. If national TV played a part in helping educate the everyday Indian person about how littering can effect their future then that would help so much. But instead, national TV nowadays put out so much unnecessary rubbish which is completely non educational and instead making people even more blind to living a more responsible life.

Not just dried brown leaves even kitchen waste can also be added to the compost bin. Earth worms do the job for you... in Uk some councils collect kitchen waste for making compost on city level and sell it to local garden centers where everyone can buy... its such a wise thought these ladies are doing...

Well how satisfying it is to see Ms Aditi do what I couldn't. People need to realise that burning waste especially biodegradable ones will eventually harm them only. I try to educate people but they in turn take you for fool who gives lessons for free and tell you that "You and me alone cannot bring the change" and start cursing the government for not doing anything about it . This is the mentality of the people even those who call themselves educated

WHEN I was younger, it was mandatory, if your property touches the edge then it was your responsibility to clean that area. No tree branches no rotten leaves no over grown weeds. If a city council officer come by and your property is not kept as the asks they used to give you a ticket worming first.... and those touches the waters edges and no one owns it they used to pick a day, everyone will be notified. THE WHOLE village will there. I used to love it because always they cooked out...or and if you don't come u pay a fine. I don't know if the practice is still done or not. I have not been the country in ages

Mix it with cow dung or any animal dung which is abundant in India. Clean up and make use of a resource. Compost locks up carbon it also provides food for soil microorganisms. Retains water during rainfall. It also prevents soil erosion by building soils.

you could also separate the waste collected from Rivers into two categories
    1. biodegradable
like green plants and animal waste and food waste , algae etc
    2. non biodegradable like plastic etc
and mix your dried leaves with the green material (biodegradable) from Rivers and make compost and sell that too coz all we need is some green and brown waste in proper ratio and given required time right?
which results in good nitrogen and carbon rich material for plants
and send the 2nd type waste ( non biodegradable ) to recycle plants coz that waste might again end up in Rivers or landfills
    so please try that too😄😄
