TACE - Trans Arterial Chemoembolization Procedure
A Patient presented with symptoms suggestive of a giant hemangioma, confirmed through imaging studies. The lesion was found to be significant in size, necessitating intervention to alleviate symptoms and prevent potential complications.
A management plan was made opting for transcatheter arterial embolization to target the feeding vessels of the hemangioma to induce thrombosis and shrinkage.
The embolization procedure was performed via a right femoral artery approach using a 5 French Cobra catheter. Subsequently, a 2.75 French microcatheter was selectively advanced into the common hepatic artery, targeting the upper and lower branches supplying the hemangioma. Injection of embolic materials, including bleomycin and lipiodol, was carried out to achieve effective occlusion of the vascular bed feeding the lesion.
Post Intervention procedure, angiography confirmed successful embolization without complications such as extravasation or vessel dissection, ensuring effective occlusion of the vascular bed supplying the hemangioma.
