    There are countless free and open source to never go back to google or any mainstream corporations. It is up to the person if they want to have their information manipulated while allowing a tool to be in control of them when it is the tool that is supposed to be used. I left all of those businesses and did not look back. You can easily go to the library if you MUST use apps that you really don’t need.

      @@mikegarwood8680 we need more people on the other video sites - including content creators and also need more people on OSM. Google's CZcams and maps are what I find hardest to give up. Both redit and ruqqus (which is a newer, freer version of reddit) have deGoogle groups. Oh, ANDROID is actually the hardest to give up....forgot about it. You can't install a new OS on just any model of Android. As far as I know, only the more expensive models have been tested and have OS programs made for them.

      @@genkiferal7178 Don't buy an android phone. Linux phones are in their infancy right now with Librem 5 and PinePhone. They will progress. More will come.

    But it hurts to see how dependant we are on tech
    - Where everyone’s on google docs, I’m taking notes in my book
    - Need to get somewhere? Street directory
    - A lot of my still super infilled wisdom. Observation and wisdom from older generations
    Don’t get me wrong. The internet is lit. I do love it, not lying. But it’s interesting how pervasive it is

      Late reply, you're still using Google products. Brave is Chromium, and Chromium is owned by Google. Use Firefox.

      @@socialix_ no thats very wrong brave is based on chromium but that doesnt mean brave is literally same as chromium they wrote the codes them selves they didnt copy and paste it

      Brave is based on chromium and is dependent on google, so any security vulnerability that appears on chromium will also appear on brave. Google could also put in telemetry and make it non-portable essentially hard locking it in

      Actually, I don't believe this is a joke. China bans Google as a search engine, and has a modified version of Google earth. So all the technology used in China, does not have label "Google" on it, but it's almost 100% developed by Google.

      @Eliza Knight , using VPN does not mean you block Google, unless the VPN has a built in tracker and ad protection, instead what I suggest you do is use ublock origin, or adgaurd if you are willing to spend some money, vpn only masks your IP.

    I think the only reason Google does not ban this video and others alike is that nothing is really said 'how' to remove yourself from Google. There is no real technical detail discussed. And LineageOS can only be installed on a couple of old phones, so they are no real threat to Google. Google will only be threatened once the open-source community develops a platform that is affordable/free and can be understood and installed by most non-technical users.

      If you have an android phone, you're stuck with google services , although you can use open source apps by installing f-store. Newer Xiaomi phones can restrict permits to apps, and also let you uninstall some, but not the most important ones.
      Huawei newer phones don't have google services but you can use the aurora store or the huawei store for alternatives.
      There are linux phones that don't have any data collecting apps in them, but these are niche phones, not yet appealing to the masses.

      there are many ways. you can use something like pihole or a browser addon like ublock origin, umatrix or edit your host file which is a bit hard.

    she did all this for nothing! she still has a friggin iphone, it know where you are 24/7. apple and google track 24/7 via wifi scanning. only way around it is to get a Linux phone, or a de-googled android running an AOSP rom.
    so with that said, she didn't accomplish anything lol
    also, theres alternatives for any and all google apps, obviously she doesnt know anything about tech

      the option for wifi scanning in the settings does NOT turn tracking off. it may disabled it for 3rd party apps, but the wifi scanning ppl are worried about is baked right into android/google, and iphone operating systems.
      so like i said, you NEED a linux phone, or a de-googled android running an aosp rom if you dont want to be tracked.

    Sorry, but this is a bit inconclusive. Given that Google tracks your IMEI number (number unique for your device, and stores basically all devices you logged in to google with), AND sees also the wifis you connect to, so they can probably still track you as long as you have google installed even if you have vpn.

      Sure they probably can, but it's still way less than using the services as if. I used to get personal info about my mental health and other real life information from Google, but I get more or less memes now or funny videos after using Duckduckgo

    Everything cost's money. Big Tech giants are there in our lives and we cannot undo it, ranging from Facebook to Google to Amazon. I have heard that Indian companies like Reliance Gio is heavily funded by Facebook and Facebook wants to compete with Amazon in India.

      Android itself is open-source. It only "belongs" to Google if it's modified to ship with Google services. But it can be used without them.

    Why is Microsoft worthy of being blocked? I thought they were the only viable alternative (in certain cases) to Google, Amazon, and Apple. Also, aren't they more secure and attentive to privacy than Google/Apple?
