What’s the need to out the glass card towards the right when playing it in hand? Just a habit in case you got a multi card?

As a general rule, multiplying the mult as late as possible is better. If you ever have additive mult cards or jokers, You want them to trigger before the multiplying mult card, and cards trigger in played hand from left to right, then in held hand from left to right, before finally jokers and consumables left to right.
For ease, picture you have two +3 mult playing cards (M) and a glass (G) card, and the base mult is B
Mult if order is GMM, your final multiplier is B*2 + 3 + 3, or 2B + 6
Mult if order is MGM, your final multiplier is (B+3)*2 + 3, or 2B + 9
Mult if order is MMG, your final multiplier is (B+3+3)*2, or 2B + 12
