@Glass Moon Gaming. Su put so much emotion into this song and it holds a special place in her heart. 1) It was her 20th birthday celebration in hometown of Hiroshima, 2) it was the first time that Yui didn't perform with them; backing out so late they were unable to change the choreography. According to Moa, Su was very upset over Yui's absence. They never performed together again with Yui formally leaving the following year and 3) her grandmother was a survivor of the atomic bomb; Su feels very strongly about honoring the anniversary of the bombing.
There is one point where Suzuka was close to tears (only the second time we've seen that) but then Su-metal reemerged and the Queen finished injecting those feelings into the song. Her ability to emote a visceral response is amazing. Many reactors and members of the ONE seemingly get attacked by the onion ninjas, resulting in teary eyes and then some. 😢😢

this show, legend S, was set up for the recording of a blu-ray, Yui leaves for health reasons, but the show goes on. It's a more emotional show than the others. Just Su and Moa on stage, the choreography performed as if Yui was present. Moa had to enter Yui/Moa's songs alone, fans participate even more, as if to fill in what was missing. Moa sang "GJ!" and "4 no Uta".
I couldn't find these on youtube,
I found the full show on Facebook. I'll try to post the link in another comment, in case anyone is interested in watching.

Baby Metal :No Rain No Rainbow
    Rough English translation.
    Why can't I sleep?
Why does the night end at dawn as I can't sleep?
I don't need anything, even tomorrow.
    I don't need a future without you.
    Why were you always laughing?
    Why did I feel lonely?
No one knows, but I really just wanted you to be by my side.
Even seemingly hopeless things would turn into light.
Even if it was raining for a long time.
Even despair may one day turn into light.
Rainbow will appear in the sky after a sad rain
    Everywhere in the sky.
We'll never see each other again.
I want to remember you forever.
If the dream of being with you continues,
I don’t want to wake up the dream.
    Why were you always laughing?
    Why was I lonely?
No one knows, but I really wanted to be with you, that's all.
Even what seems hopeless would turn into light.
Even if it was raining for a long time.
Even despair may one day turn into light.
Rainbow will appear in the sky after a sad rain.
    Even now.
Even if it continues the rain, it might one day fill my heart.

Legend S is my favorite show from babymetal.Only downside is YUI missing. But other than that man:
Probably best setlist ever:IDZ, syncopation, ROR, Akatsuky, DEATH, No rain no rainbow(with live piano and violin), Karate, Megitsune in one show??All my favorite songs
Moa was alone in few songs but still own whole stage like a pro.
Kamiband sounded really good.I dont know if its because mixing but they sounded super clean.Even better than usually(probably best kamibad performance i saw). I only heard one little mistake in ROR in whole concert haha.I recommend buying bluray because how super clean and good audio and kamiband sound is.

This recording is set in Suzuka's hometown Hiroshima. One theory is that she looks a little tearful as she sings while remembering the many civilians who died in the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Her songs are said to be more emotional than others. Her band maid will focus on Suzuka's singing ability, but I would like you to pay attention to the world top level technique of her backing "Kami Band (Japanese quartet)". Especially lead guitar Mikio's super technique. Moreover, he became the last person to return from this stage. He is the best "no rain no rainbow".

Yes it was Mikio's last show with Babymetal. His last performance was December 26th for Takayoshi Ohmura's (The other guitarist here) birthday concert also there was Gacharic Spin. There is a video of them all together doing a Judas Priest song with a triple solo (Mikio, Ohmura and Tomo Zo). Ohmura still plays mikio's signature guitars at all Babymetal shows, other events, and recording along with all his own signature guitars.

Yeah this song is an X-Japan tribute to Endless Rain, is like a response or a silver lining.
Good thing you upload this one with those filters to avoid copyright blocked.
There's a _kamishibai_ (narrated intro) before this song that relates Hiroshima sad past events in history with this song.
She being from Hiroshima and granddaughter of Hiroshima bomb survivor, this was really special for her.
A gorgeous hard rock ballad from SuMetal solos and BM in general, performed at Legend S Baptism XX 2017 20th SuMetal birthday it was a special concert due to many factors and many fans always get sad about it, me too of course, is a bittersweat live concert and one in a lifetime too. It was the last time Mikio Fujioka-sama played with BabyMetal before he past away and first live concert without YuiMetal, so many feelings. (R.I.P. kokami)🙌
She sang this at 10 Babymetal Budokan 2021 with our queen "playing" the piano, it really surprised the audience with the unusual silence break.
She supposed to sing this song during first album but she felt not ready to sing it with all the emotions needed, that's why is included during 2nd album later on.
There's a live version at Legend 1999 (2013) with Yui and MoaMetal celebrating their birthdays, isn't the best version since the guitar sound and mix are a little bit off but is good in terms of visual and a special moment being a live premiere.
SuMetal said that this guitars solos is one of her favorite parts, quote: _“I feel that the guitars in this song sound as if they’re really singing the melody, and I just really enjoy it."_
The Akatsuki Unfinished Version you mentioned was at Legend 1997 SuMetal 16th Birthday, not Legend 1999.
Japan got many other tragedies and natural disasters in history, like the 2011 earthquake, Suzuka Nakamoto(aka SuMetal) remembered that sad days and connected with Hiroshima past events, saying:
_I believe that persistently doing little things bit by bit as they come up will grow into a great power someday. The city i live in Hiroshima has itself been totally destroyed and then restored. This happened long before i was born but i have seen through pictures that Hiroshima went from a place with someday we will be able to look back and be almost unable to believe the destructive scene that we see now._
She's our queen for a reason, she touches our heart on every way.

Great reaction again - you are spoiling us with two in one day .... I'm not complaining.😉
So was this the best performance of 'No Rain, No Rainbow'? I would say yes, but maybe the later ones at Budokan 2021 are equally special - there was a very special moment in those.
Legend S was the only time they had the live piano and violins I think ... they pulled out all the stops for those shows. Jake Muller has already said about the kamishibai which preceded this performance and how it seemed to reference the Hiroshima bombing and the black acid rain that followed and turned the sky black. Su is a Hiroshima native, it is a subject she is very well versed in and that is very close to her heart.
Su has still only performed this 7 times I think - Legend 1999 (which included a special cameo role for Yui, Moa and a crystal piano), Legend 1997, Tokyo Dome, twice for the Legend S Baptism XX shows (yes Su's 20th birthday celebrations and her first time with Babymetal in her home town Hiroshima) and two more performances at the Budokan 2021 concerts.
The song was completed and was performed live before the first album was released, but Su-metal has said that it was her first ballad and she didn't really understand it, so she was concentrating on getting the lyrics right and the hitting the right notes, but she could not give it the emotion it deserved so that it might reach peoples' hearts had it been included on the first album.
She said that two years more of performing, singing their songs, possibly allowed her to sing this song properly - it was when she saw someone crying as they listened to this song that she realised this sort of song could move someone's heart. It was only then that she thought it favourable to be included on the second album.

Su was 19 during this performance, but she would turn 20 just a few weeks later. This took place in Hiroshima, Su's birth city, and I believe this is the show where they crucified her on the symbol at the end. I also think this is the show where the fans, er, I mean, The One had to wear a mask and a cape to get in. This show has an awesome stage, the moving one with the -wolf- fox heads that had the lit up eyes and the cryo jets. Great song, great performance. Su's ability to convey emotion is underrated.

NO RAIN 🌂 NO RAINBOW 🌈
NO RAIN, NO RAINBOW is a song from BABYMETAL's second original album, METAL RESISTANCE, by SU-METAL. It has the same music structure as Legendary band X Japan 🇯🇵 "Endless Rain" but with a different arrangement. A tear-jerker when listening to "Mikio Fujioka" guitar solo because he's such a phenomenal guitar maestro gone too soon.
This is special for Su and Moa especially Su because she got to perform in her hometown of Hiroshima. After the guitar solo, you can hear Su voice wavering as she tried to hide her emotion. Su owns this performance. Her facial expressions and mannerisms coincide with the song. The show at the Nippon Budokan for the 10th Babymetal anniversary is awesome.
    Information:-
    •Artist: BABYMETAL.
    •Album: METAL RESISTANCE.
    •Lyrics: YOSHIFU-METAL, Mk-metal, Nakametal.
    •Composition: Yoshifu-metal.
    •Arrangement: Ledametal.
    NRNR Lyrics:-
    Why can't I sleep
    どうして眠れないの?
    Why is the night over?
    どうして夜は終わるの?
I don't need anything, even tomorrow
    いらない 何も 明日さえも
    A future without you
    君がいない未来
    Why were you laughing?
    どうして笑ってたの?
    Why? I was lonely
    どうして? 寂しかったのに
    Nobody knows it's just
    誰も 知らない 本当はただ
I wanted you to be by my side
    そばにいて欲しかった
    Even despair becomes light
    絶望さえも 光になる
    Even if it keeps raining
    止まない雨が 降り続いても
    Even despair becomes light
    絶望さえも 光になる
Sad rain casts a rainbow forever
    悲しい雨が 虹をかけるよ どこまでも
    I can't see you again
    二度と会えないけど
    I want to remember
    忘れないでいたいよ
If your dreams continue, don't wake up
    夢が続くなら 覚めないで
    Why were you laughing?
    どうして笑ってたの?
    Why? I was lonely
    どうして? 寂しかったのに
    Nobody knows it's just
    誰も 知らない 本当はただ
I just wanted to meet you
    会いたい それだけだった
    Even despair becomes light
    絶望さえも 光になる
    Even if it keeps raining
    止まない雨が 降り続いても
    Even despair becomes light
    絶望さえも 光になる
    Sad rain casts a rainbow
    悲しい雨が 虹をかけるよ 今も
The unstoppable rain will fill my heart forever
    止まない雨が こころ満たすよ いつまでも

This performance is very special to Su-Metal because it is performed in Su-Metal hometown of Hiroshima. Su-Metal grandmother is a survivor of "hibakusha" of the Hiroshima bombings. You can hear Su-Metal voice wavering after the guitar solo. This concert is also without Yui Mizuno "Yuimetal" who withdrew from Babymetal due to a health hiatus and "Mikio Fujioka" last concert before his untimely death on January 5th of 2018 after suffering injuries from an observation deck fall while stargazing.
It is 75 years since the US dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 and 9 August, leading to the end of World War Two.
Those who survived the bombings are known as "hibakusha". Survivors faced horrifying aftermath in the cities, including psychological trauma.
The bombings brought about an abrupt end to the war in Asia, with Japan surrendering unconditionally to the Allies on 14 August 1945.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 We are moved by this song because we are human beings. I am Japanese but my nationality and literacy do not have distinct advantages to feel the emotion stirred by Su-Metal and Kamis. Su's voice and Kami's guitars resonates with the bones in my whole body.
This was filmed in 2017 and Su revived this song in the two last shows of 10 BABYMETAL Budokan last year with more matured voice. As an eyewitness of the those shows at the venue, I can tell you that NRNR 2021 was literally heartbreaking and made me forget to breathe. This 2017 version video, however, may be still the best performance although BM always say "the latest is the best". Yes, it may be so because of Mikio's last appearance with Su. 😢

And this song was written at a time when Japan was still mourning the loss of so many people in a massive earthquake and tsunami. In fact, I was healed by this song. It gave me a positive feeling to remember the many lives lost, but to live with hope. The lyrics, "Even despair becomes light, and the rain that never stops brings rainbows," are a gentle song as if to accompany the victims who endured the cold rain and sad farewells to their loved ones in the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake.

Lots of metal vocalists have got power and range (Floor or Tarja)... But Su has the ability to put so much emotion into her voice... You see her eyes are kinda glassy with tears.... Loved the part when the light is blue, she's got the sad expression but when the light turns red, her eyes just changes, and you see the Metal Queen is back... For her its not just singing a song, its a whole performance, gestures, expression, emotion. 🤘🦊🤘

I have listened to this song countless times over the last few years, and I can honestly say that there wasn't a single time that it didn't make me cry, including this time. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but these solos are two of the most emotional solos I know. If the first solo doesn't do it, Su's eyes immediately afterwards kill me. I have never encountered such an emotionally strong presence before, it gets me every time.

excellent content Glass Moon-Metal, you are going to love Legend S, it is so emotional, it brings tears to my eyes watching it myself, it is the beginning of the tragedies that would follow BABYMETAL, but they overcome with the power of the fox-god, just wait til you see the end of Legend S, it might just bring a tear or two to your eyes. the lore says that the fox-god split himself into three to be on earth again, but because of Yui's absence, he split himself in half for Su and Moa to rise above their own sadness and put on one of the best live shows ever.

Thank you! This is a song about love, it’s subsequent loss, and a desire for rekindling. It is in my top two BM performances, simply for the emotion it brings. Su-Metals vocals are outstanding and rival Shine, in my opinion. I’m sure everyone can relate to the lyrics in some way. There is another interpretation of the story, or motivation behind the song, but I’ll let Grington300 address it, if he desires. In short this performance was one of my earliest experiences with BM and led me to be a lifelong fan of Su-Metal. It honestly made me rethink my life’s work and how I treated others. As has been pointed out, this was Mikio Fujioka's last appearance with BABYMETAL.
They have a close-up on him during this part:
"Nidoto ae-nai kedo, wasure-naide itai yo."
(We shall never meet again, but I want not to forget you forever.)
Mikio passed away on January 5th, 2018, before the video was released.
In this footage, Su was about to turn 20, the traditional age of majority (adulthood) in Japan.
Yui was supposed to perform at this concert, but was unable to appear because of unspecified health reasons.
The introduction just before this song refers to to the bombing of Hiroshima, Su's home prefecture, and the location of the two 'LEGEND S - BAPTISM XX' concerts.
This intro was added for these shows.
That doesn't mean the song was originally written to be about those events, just that they were drawing a connection for these two special concerts in Su's home prefecture of Hiroshima)
The last line of this song is:
"An endless rain fills my heart, forever."
That seems like a clear reference to the X-Japan's 'Endless Rain'.
The actual music reminds me more of the X-Japan song 'Silent Jealousy'.

Su is a Hiroshima native so this show was super special for her and not only was this Mikio's last show (RIP!) This was the first show without Yui. First time performing as a duo. Which made Black Babymetal songs odd to perform as that was a YUI/MOA thing. But the crowd amazingly took on all of Yui's lines when they came up. It was amazing!
