Awesome video! I can't wait to start dipping my toes into the world of vinyl! I am definitely going to try to pick one of these versions up.

As long as you can get a 2016 reissue, it should be the excellent KG cut of the album. They disappeared for a while, but I think they are back on Amazon and (surprisingly) Walmart online. If you do get one, let me know what you think!

OR the 2023 Rhino - Start Your Year Off Right series, clear wax .. It's also cut by KG, uses the same plates and sounds stellar! 👍👍

great insight/ cool experience!! will def subscribe!.... well done. . Keep in mind that dynamic range increase typically ='s lower overall volume levels (as far as I am of aware)

I think you're right. That's been my experience with louder and quieter records.

I had no idea that there were more than 2 versions of this album, really interesting stuff

Thanks for stopping by! There are multiple versions, and most of them are so similar that I wouldn't notice a difference unless I paid very close attention. In fact even the differences in the Steven Wilson remix would play without me noticing if I weren't carefully analyzing it. Either of these are great for casual listening.

Only difference between the two is Heart Of The Sunrise has a few more Moog notes on the Steven Wilson cut. But, they're both very well done. If you're really into Yes, fine...get the Steven Wilson Remixes box which aren't cheap (nothing is anymore) or if you just want a clean unused fresh Yes Fragile of the original mix, the Kevin Gray cut has been reissued for the Atlantic 75th Series.

I agree. They're both fine ways to listen to the album. I do find myself going more for the Kevin Gray cut simply because it's not buried inside of a boxset (first world problems, amiright).

I’d be interested to know how the original pressing from the 70s compares. Enjoyed your video 👍🏽

I hope you didnt pay all too much for your Kevin Gray copy, it has went up in price quite a bit.
I never compared my SW and KPG copies too carefully, but I remember the KPG being tonally right but pleasant to hear while the SW was a bit snappier, more highlighted if you will, making it clearer but perhaps more fatiguing to listen to at loud volume across the whole album. Thats usually how SW remixes compare in my mind, a great alternative for new clarity but here I enjoy both about as much I think. King Crimson is one band where I think SW almost exclusively improved the sound.
As for the MFSL version, I never liked it since day one, on Hoffman forums I criticized it for being muffled and bass heavy. Only recently have people come around to realize this in comparisons however, I guess it just took a big scandal for people to not be biased towards them ;^)

Thanks for your comment! I think I got my KPG copy for a bit more than the retail price. I think your description is spot on. The SW mix is analytical and could be fatiguing to listen to. The KPG master is an excellent presentation of the original mix. I enjoy them both.
I've never heard the MoFi press of *Fragile*, though. I have a MoFi press of *Close to the Edge* which I very much enjoy.

Update: The "Atlantic 75th" Fragile is the same KG cut from a few years ago. It's out there, reasonably priced.

@@glennquagmire7696 There hasnt been a 45 of Fragile until now. You mean he did this the same time as the 2016 33? Any sources?

Ok this should be interesting 0:07 in and I'm saying not, I repeat not SW...
