  • Well I have an interesting POV for you this time around, this POV was meant to include a diversion but the diversion was late going in so it didn't happen but another incident did happen that involved a women using the emergency buttons on the outside of the bus to get on board even though the bus is full and not paying her fare. Luckily for me a plain clothed Police Officer was on board to help get the women to leave the bus.

    Great video as always Taylor! That was quite the scene you captured - you're right, forget about the bloody fare evading, the fact that she decided to press the emergency button to open the door was enough to want her off. Good on you for standing your ground! Goes to show that every trip is completely different hahah!

      Thank you! I was very lucky that I had a copper in plain clothes on board who helped massively to get her off the bus if he wasn't on board I would've had to do a code red to get police assistance so thanks to him there wasn't further delays

      As a bus enthusiast, I think it’s outrageous to take advantage of the emergency button. The driver has to let u on not urself 🤦‍♂️. Also ur driving my fav the E400H.

    Great video! The lady that got on via the emergency buttons shouldn't have done that In my opinion, she should of waited until you were comfortable to let people on. I know a lot about the way buses work and especially the emergency doors, but I don't take that knowledge to my advantage.
    Also, when do you think you would ever get a Scania to drive on the 177 as they very rarely do the route lol, the last one to happen was around January at 10pm, whoever got to drive that Scania got really lucky as the bus enthusiast community went nuts over it!

    • @TaylorStraub
      @TaylorStraub  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah it is extremely rare to get a Scania I do remember seeing the Scania you are talking about the main reason we don't use them is that they are not hybrid and we have to use hybrid buses to go into Peckham because it is part of the Low emission zone. So it would have to be a "perfect storm" so to speak of them just not having any buses to give to you to be able to get a Scania on the route but who knows it may very well happen again

      @@TaylorStraub Ah I see.. Also, the 177s are up for tender, do you think that Stagecoach Plumstead (PD) will retain or would Goahead London Peckham (PM) retain with some ex-63 MHVs?

      @@TaylorStraub I agree, since Peckham are also losing the 63 bus route so who knows.. PD could end up losing the route. I prefer the route as Stagecoach, I'd take PD over PM anyday

    When there is a diversion in place and the controller is saying go left at this road; go right at that road, etc....so what if you're a new driver who doesn't know the road names in the area very well...what do they have in place for such scenarios to help drivers?

    • @TaylorStraub
      @TaylorStraub  Před 3 lety +3

      What I would do (don't know if this is a technique other drivers use) but I would ask the controller what is the last bus stop I serve on the normal line of route before the diversion starts that would help me make a picture of roughly where the diversion is and where I need to be before I need to start worrying about where i'm going lol. Then when I get to that last bus stop I would ring the controller again and have him walk me through the directions again. Unfortunately there really isn't a great system in place to help new drivers in this situation. I've always said that they should install specially modified sat-nav's specifically made for bus drivers that has all the routes pre programmed on there and integrates the MDT and Mobitech so you know exactly where you are going, you can call the controller or TFL and you can set your destination blinds etc. That way in the event of a diversion the controller can program the diversion into the sat-nav on his end then it would update the route on your end. That would be the dream but I highly doubt this would ever happen. In reality you just have to keep calling the controller and he will help guide you with directions

      @@TaylorStraub Thankyou for taking time to provide what happens...the sat nav idea sounds like the way forward especially for new drivers..but like you say is unlikely to happen which is a shame because the technology is there and could / should be used to help drivers...as for that woman getting on the way she did when you had the bus full sign clearly showing she was bang out of order..

      I had the bus full sign displayed so I wasn't letting any passengers on and the woman waiting at the bus stop pressed the emergency button on the outside of the bus and got on, walked straight past me without paying and sat at the back of the bus so I wasn't having any of it I wasn't gonna allow her to disrespect me like that so I just sat there till a Police officer in plain clothes that was on the bus got her off
