    Thank you for sharing this organization tip... my first tray came today and it fits perfectly in a side drawer of my antique desk... ordering two more... one for my other distress inks and the other one for my new Ranger Dye ink pads that fit perfectly on their sides - 3 per row x 4 rows = 12... I'm so happy to have the perfect solution that fits me... now I'm checking out a lipstick stand for my Gelatos! have a great day!

    OMG!!! Thank you so much for this totally awesome idea!!! I actually had a similar container from Target (only $3.49) and gave this a try. I LOVE IT!! I bought some more containers and have all my non-stampin up, non-distress ink stored in these and they fit in my drawers perfectly. This is a game changer really. Now my ink pads are within easy reach and I can pull out my container and put it on my work surface, then it goes neatly back into the drawer. I really can't say enough good things about this idea!!!

    Thanks for this Darlene. I am using the Alex drawers to store my ink, and I have the long single tray and my non Distress inks are always falling. I think these compartmentalized ones will do the trick. I also LOVE the idea for the distress inks. I have to see if I have space to have them out, but now they are crammed into the Alex draw and I can't flip through. I have labeled them (and it IS a pain !) but I would rather store them the way you have. I appreciate you sharing this with us.

    Thx for sharing your storage solutions, there are some great ideas. Especially like the nail polish trays if I had a designated craft room... alas I don't"!
    Personally though I feel that there is lots of unused space in your drawers and as I have limited space to store my crafting stuff that would drive me nuts. Also, I do have some OCD tendancies and as I have to craft in my living room I like to have stuff that is not strictly decor (artwort, ornaments etc) out of view unless it's in use.
    I have my inks stored on the side in a small bedside drawer unit, and have labelled the sides (I just do them one by one as I get a new ink so very little work is involved) so I can see the colors instantly. In a drawer that is approx 12.75in square, I can store 22 distress and other inks in each of 4 rows (made with cardboard dividers that take up virtually no space) so 88 in total. They are not jam-packed in, so there is wiggle room but they also don't fall over either so it's a perfect fit. But I don't have 88 inks...yet...
    I also have my Viva Decor Inka Golds in the same unit also stored on their sides and other misc. bits & pieces as my collection is still growing. If all 3 drawers in my unit were filled with inks that would be a total of 264 in a very small but easily accessible space!

    Glad your storage system works well for you, easy to see what you have, grab it and go! However, my Distress Ink Pad lids don't stay on very well, and the ink dries out, so....I put rubber bands around them really tightly to hold the lids on since they don't seal well, and then I put them in a plastic container with a silicone seal in the lid. Keeps them nice, but not as easily accessible as yours!

    I have had two of my distress inks seep over even with them sitting upright. I noticed a couple ink drops on the top of the base. I cleaned it up, made sure the lids were on properly, and the next day I had two huge ink spots. That still did not solve the problem. They continued to leak. I turned them upside down and shook off as much as possible, cleaning up my mess with blank cardstock. I've moved them, added paper towels and a plastic tray under them. So far so good.

    Thanks, Darlene. I wish I had enough room to be this organized. I have my inks stored in airtight plastic boxes and it is a big pain in the neck. But.... I use ceiling fans in order to help keep my electric bill as low as possible. I feel that because of this, that the inks will dry out faster. I sure wish I could find a more convient way. I bought some zip bags on e-bay that I hope I can keep each pad stored in individually, so I can keep them more handy and not have to dig through a box for the color that I am looking for. The nail polish cotainers look great. I just don't have the room.

    Thanks for this video! Beautiful storage solutions! I was wondering on which occasions you use non-SU pads. Because I have mainly SU til now, but I want to buy some LF or SSS, as I am not absolutely satisfied with the SU pads being splashy. I know as die inks they even out a little, but not too much :(.

    • @darlene003
      @darlene003  Před 8 lety +1

      +Rosa- li It usually has to do with color - I want a different color than what SU has. I also have distress inks, which I rarely interchange with SU, since they are completely different. My personal opinion is that the SU inks are better quality than others that you mention - you can see my comparison: livelovecards.com/dye-ink-comparison/

    A lot of ink pad makers say it doesn't matter how you store your ink pads. I am old very old have some original stamping up pads and other kinds, experimented with them over the years and it hasn't made any difference. I have frozen them not recommended (left in my car at -0) The heat in a car dries them out.

      I've heard a lot of different information about storing distress ink pads and distress oxides. So I contacted Ranger and Tim Holtz himself. They both told me ink pads can be stored vertically with no issues of ink running out of the pad. I also heard a long time ago about storing ink pads upside down to keep the pad moist, I've stored mine both ways and found no difference in how long the ink pad lasts. I have a blank archival ink pad I store vertically. I use i very often and it still makes a crisp stamp and it's about 6 years old. Hope all this helps.
